## What is Dugs n' Pubs?

Dugs n' Pubs is a wee business based in Edinburgh, Scotland and run solely by one girl, Rhian, and her Dug, Bailie (he's the wee fella on the sticker/logo).

** Please note that since Dugs n' Pubs is run only by one person based in Edinburgh, the majority of the listings on this app are for Scotland with a large focus specifically on Edinburgh, Glasgow and the surrounding areas. There are some dog friendly maps for other parts of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, since I live in Edinburgh and I rely on member recommendations for any listings further afield, the app's coverage outside of Scotland is limited. The database however is constantly growing but as you can imagine there’s only so many pubs and cafes I can get to!

Rhian

********************************

On the app there is an extensive Edinburgh & Lothians section including a visitor guide and separate interactive maps for pubs, cafes and shops with nearest location functionality. The Edinburgh section has 400+ dog friendly listings split by area and various categories.

The Glasgow section is also extensive with nearly 200 listings and an interactive pub map as well as an interactive cafe map. Both of these have nearest location functionality. You can also browse individual Glasgow listings by area or category.

Other areas covered in Scotland include The Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Argyll & Bute, Ayrshire, Dundee, Fife, Stirlingshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Loch Lomond, Perthshire, The Scottish Borders, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire. However, as mentioned above the coverage in these areas may be limited. Please get in touch before downloading if you need further info on coverage in Scotland.

***There are also interactive dog friendly maps for parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, at this time, this app's coverage in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is limited and not all towns and cities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are covered. If you live in either England, Wales and Northern Ireland and are looking for an app to help you find dog friendly places in your local area, then please do NOT download this app as it will not provide enough coverage for you. Please feel free to get in touch via email if you would like to help expand your local area's coverage.

Of course, if you live in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and will be visiting Scotland on holiday with your dog then you will likely find this app useful. If unsure however, please get in touch first before downloading.

The information for England, Wales and Northern Ireland has been provided mainly to help out Scottish users who may be visiting England, Wales and Northern Ireland on holiday with their dog. Therefore the listings in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are mostly found in major cities or tourist areas and only provide a limited number based mostly on members recommendations while traveling outwith Scotland with their dog (rather than from local knowledge).

Other Features:
* Favourites functionality is available for all listing sections.
* Pet Travel Section
* Photo Gallery
* Offline Support for a selection of pages / listings

Please note that this is a standalone app. However, if you have a Dugs n' Pubs Big Dug login, you can access additional features on the app including "My Location". However, you do not need a login to use the app.

Please email via the feedback form on the app for feature requests.

If you encounter an issue with the app or find that it is not meeting your needs, please do get in touch in the first instance prior to leaving a review as I will try to help you out as much as I can.

### 2/5 — Clunky

*2022-08-14*

Very clunky app. Not very well thought out. I just want to open the app and instantly see a map of where I am with all the nearby dog friendly places marked on it, and a filter to only show pubs/cafes etc. Instead it’s primarily list based, which isn’t very helpful, and the map functionality that it does have is clunky and frustrating to use. Could be so much better.

### 1/5 — Out of Date

*2022-05-05*

Good idea and fine interface. But have provided info about missing dog friendly places using app’s facility for doing so, but have never received acknowledgement nor had places added. Not useful because of these numerous omissions and lack of updates even when reported.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-04-11*

Can't search by type or location. Slow, returns empty pages,Have to browse through all categories to find a restraint for example. And not free? Rubbish.

### 3/5 — Sadly out of date

*2021-07-22*

Looked great at first sight. But years out of date. Falcos at Bruntsfield. Really? Pity.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2020-02-18*

Fantastic app, dont know what I’d do without it. Don’t like asking places if you can bring the dog in. This saves any hassle. Well done on making this.

### 5/5 — Woof tastic

*2019-03-20*

Love this app for keeping up with new dog friendly places in our local area as well as top tips for when we are away from home. Keep up the good work!

### 1/5 — Poor

*2019-03-02*

I wanted to like it but it really doesn’t work very well and misses out whole areas of the country (especially in Scotland!). Shame.

**Developer response:** Hi Susie, are you using version 3.2.5? This sounds strange if you are. I don't know what areas you believe are missing for Scotland but your review is not correct. There are 1000's of listings for Scotland and also pins on our interactive map. It is the most comprehensive Scotland guide out there. It covers all areas. I put a lot of effort into ensuring we have an extensive collection of listings in Scotland. For example, there has been around 200 new ones in Scotland added in the past week. Before posting a review please consider emailing the support first for any business. Negative reviews with incorrect information can have a large effect on small businesses which is unfair. Thanks Rhian

### 1/5 — New layout

*2019-01-16*

Can’t understand why the layout was ever changed for this app. It used to be simple and very easy to use and now it’s too much of a fuss for a quick glance at places nearby. Instead I’m required to scroll about the screen and find the places as if it’s some sort of treasure hunt. Hopefully it will be changed back.

**Developer response:** Hi Nat2Gra, are you using version 3.2.5? If not please can you download that version as you will find that everything is as you would expect it to be. If it is not I would be grateful if you could send me a support request. There is a Scotland Other section which has a large selection of interactive maps and listings. Thanks Rhian.

### 4/5 — Good app!

*2018-03-30*

Don’t know what I was doing wrong before but previous 2 star review is retracted! Is there maybe an issue using it not on WiFi? Either way I’ve gone back in and can now see a wide range of things in my area.

Many thanks to the developer for swift response to my original review as well

**Developer response:** Hi there, please get in touch via the feedback form on the app as that doesn't sound correct. It's true there are more in Scotland but I sent a sticker to the Paper Duck in Harborne B17 so I know they are listed. I searched Birmingham B17 on the Midlands map and can see Paper Duck, Hop Garden, White Horse and the Junction. At least 20 straight away around that area. Also places in Moseley including Prince of Wales in B13. Places also in B1 postcode inc Brewdog. I can send a screenshot when you contact and give you instructions. Please always contact first as most things are easily resolved and I am always willing to help out straight away. Thanks

### 1/5 — Clunky to use and not enough content

*2018-03-26*

I live in a very dog friendly neighbourhood in central london and not a single one of the dog friendly establishments is on here. In fact, there’s very few places on here in london at all.

The app is difficult to use as well. It insists on you dragging the map around with two fingers, why? And why do you have to tell it where you are? Surely it can work that out.

Can’t believe I paid for this.

**Developer response:** Hi Iampomo, that's strange as in the database there are 440 listings in total for London and all should be available in the London map when searching. Can you confirm where you are looking and which borough / postcode you live in?

The London section had a large upgrade not that long ago and continues to be updated. For example, I have sent out at least 10 dogs welcome stickers to London venues in the past 3 weeks and they all get added to the database. If I know how you are using the app and which area is causing the problem I can investigate.

Update 30/3: I have removed the 2 finger drag for you which was the default map behaviour. Also now all London places show at once but are grouped by area so you can see the full coverage. These were changes you were looking for. Also if you click "Get My Location" once it should be saving your location for the next time. Any other problems let me know. Thanks
