## What is Dumb Home?

Smart-home gadgets are sold on a promise. The box says "works with everything." The fine print says otherwise — and you only find out after it's on the wall.

Dumb Home tells you the truth first.

Paste a link to any smart-home device — a camera, a lock, a sensor, a hub — and get a plain-language verdict built from verified technical facts: what it actually does, what it needs to work, and the catch the marketing left out. No reviews, no opinions, no affiliate spin. Just what's true, with the source shown.

WHAT YOU GET
• The catch, first. Every verdict leads with the thing the box hides — the subscription you didn't know was required, the hub it secretly needs, the "Matter support" that isn't there yet.
• Verified, not guessed. Every claim is grounded in real specs — FCC filings, certification records, manufacturer documentation — and we show you where it came from, with the date we last checked it.
• It refuses to oversell. When something genuinely won't work for your setup, it says so. This app would rather tell you "don't" than sell you a maybe.

SEE YOUR WHOLE HOME (free for your first 6 devices)
Add the devices you own and see how they actually fit together — which ones share a network, which talk over the Thread mesh, which need a bridge to join the party, and where the real gaps are. No account required to start.

KEEP THE TRUTH CURRENT (Dumb Home Pro)
Smart-home gadgets change after you buy them — a firmware update quietly removes a feature, a "works with" claim disappears. Dumb Home Pro keeps watching your whole home and surfaces what changed, so the deal you bought is the deal you keep.
• Unlimited devices and multiple homes
• The living view that tracks changes over time
• $3.99/month or $15.99/year. Free for up to 6 devices, always. Cancel anytime.

Dumb Home is made by Culturo LLC. We make money from subscriptions, not from selling you devices — so we have no reason to tell you anything but the truth.

Dumb Home Pro is an auto-renewing subscription ($3.99/month or $15.99/year). Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-08-31

Finding devices on your Wi-Fi now shows each one the moment it answers, instead of waiting until the end and listing them all at once.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-23

Dumb Home can now look for the smart-home devices on your Wi-Fi and offer to add them, so you don't have to type in a house full of gadgets one at a time. The scan runs entirely on your phone — nothing about your network is sent anywhere.

Or start from a screenshot. Take a picture of the app you already use — eero, Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa — and Dumb Home reads the device names out of it.

Both land in the same list, side by side, so you can see what the scan found, what your screenshot found, and what both agree on. When two entries look like the same device, the app asks rather than guessing.

And when it doesn't know, it says so. A scan can only report what a device announces about itself, which is often a chip maker or a serial number rather than anything you'd recognise. Where we can, we tell you what family it probably belongs to and show you exactly what the device said. Where we can't, we say that instead of inventing an answer.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-29

Now in your language — and easier on your eyes.

• 12 languages, now including Japanese and Korean.
• Dark mode, bigger text, and higher contrast — matched to your phone's settings, or set your own.
• More than one home: keep a flat, a house, and a parent's place separate, each with its own devices.
• Add the device you're holding with a single tap.
• Steadier under the hood — we now spot and fix problems faster.

Same promise as always: the plain truth about what your smart home can actually do. No reviews, no ratings, no sales pitch.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-26
