### 4/5 — Fun game, but too fast

*2013-11-19, version 1.05*

I loved the idea of this game and played all three modes. The only problem is that it took me just over an hour to beat all the modes combined. I'd love to see mots added on to this game, but in the meantime, it's a different type if word game and worth a try.

### 5/5 — Quite enjoyable..

*2011-07-07, version 1.0*

A fun word game, quirky humor, success depends on the luck of the tiles you draw. I'd definitely recommend it.

### 5/5 — Dungeon Scroll

*2011-03-06, version 1.0*

Excellent game highly recommend

### 5/5 — A wordy winner 

*2011-01-26, version 1.0*

This game is a must have for any word game fans, and those wanting to improve their English skills. It is irrelevant wether you finish it on your first try in 45 minutes, or take a few more attempts, because it is a game that is different every time you play it as you get different letters and can chose different power up options each time. The role playing element makes it fun and challenging. A great alternative to the other word games available.
The only thing that would make it even better (and in my opinion an app store top choice) would be an online and Bluetooth multiplayer option whereby we are each battling each other and can maybe even level up. It could be huge!!! Go on devs....you know you want to 

### 4/5 — I cast the word: Good!

*2010-11-15, version 0*

Dungeon Scroll is actually quite a decent word game for the iPhone. The gameplay is smooth, there's plenty of replay value, and there's even a variety of stats that you can view to track your game scores and discovered items. However, the game's World Map is very mundane and lacking any real significant rush to get the game finished. It would've been much better if the game's areas were more enhanced. Other than that, this is the perfect word game for any word-rpg fan.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2010-10-05, version 0*

The mix works very well. It makes you think a little.

### 4/5 — Cool game...

*2010-08-15, version 0*

I'm not too far in, just wanted to say good job and have a suggestion: can you darken the text since its on a light background, makes it kinda hard to read.

### 5/5 — Yes

*2010-07-27, version 0*

Perfect. Without a doubt.

### 4/5 — Nice addition to the puzzle/RPG genre

*2010-07-19, version 0*

Mixing word play with RPG elements work great. The one qualm I have is that it would be nice to look at the player's stats. It wouldn't hurt to have a simple story involved, too. And you should add additional save-slots in case I want to share my ipod with friends who want to play their own separate game. (That's why I'm not marking it 5 stars. Because as good as this game is, there are some simple features that can be added to make it much better.)

### 5/5 — Superbly original!

*2010-07-15, version 0*

Excellent fun, find it more challenging than other word games (especially when bomb monster appears). Really enjoy the RPG componant! Would not want to change current version though would like to see an option with stronger RPG componant. Regarding save feature - this frustrated me at first, however, finishing the game was all the more satisfying once achieved! This is definately worth playing, very unique.

### 4/5 — Pretty Good

*2010-07-06, version 0*

I like a lot, and it is my favorite word game, but I wish there was a bit more of rpg in it. Overall, a very good game, though.

### 4/5 — Great game

*2010-07-04, version 0*

All i ask is an update that upscales it for the iPad. Love this game.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So disappointing!

*2016-12-05, version 1.06*

This game was a huge disappointment! I beat it in a few days of playing it on and off. I was expecting there to be a few more levels after I beat the first set of dungeons but that was not the case. Kind of a waste and not worth the repeat play. I honestly felt kind of cheated with this game.

### 1/5 — Too Many Bugs, No Updates!

*2009-12-29, version 0*

I've been playing DS for a while, and there have been no upgrades, or any response to problems reported. My highscores are not recognized when it should be in the global top 10. There are other glitches throughout the game. I think the creators have abandoned their supporters!

### 2/5 — Game crashes around level 13 of 20

*2012-05-31, version 1.0*

I have enjoyed playing this word game for quite some time, now. Sadly a recent update has introduced a bug that kills your game session prior to completing all levels. Once this is fixed, I'll increase the rating from 2 to 4 or 5 stars (based on whatever else is added).

### 2/5 — Meh.

*2010-12-17, version 1.0*

Basically it's Scrabble but with crappy graphics, annoying music, and sound effects that you can't turn off.

### 2/5 — Good game but some flaws

*2009-09-24, version 0*

This game had great potential but some serious flaws. I started out thinking "Wow what a great game!" then I died.... You die it's game over. No continue. No retry. You start over at the beginning and have to go through from the beginning of the game. This wouldn't be so bad except for when you die instantly due to big fingers and hitting the wrong letters by accident. Imagine playing a game for 30 minutes, having full health but accidently hiting an S instead of an A and dieing instantly... back to the beginning. My second gripe. No information. Once again another game where you have no idea how some things work. Would definetly be a 5 star game if it wasn't for some serious flaws. As it stands now not sure if it's worth the $2 price.

### 3/5 — Loved this game, needs updates

*2017-07-06, version 1.06*

Loved this game for a long time. But the last update was April 2016, and there are some obvious glitches. Like the leaderboard shows I made it on there on 1/25/3420. None of those date numbers are correct.

As others say, it's easy to beat the game, and yes. There are only 25 levels.

But ... I try to beat my highest scores by using bigger words or letters with more points. I also like to see the Easter eggs pop up. So far I've found dragons, flowers, and a persona.

### 3/5 — Please fix bug

*2012-05-28, version 1.0*

Freezes around level 13. Has frozen on me 3 times

### 3/5 — A little bit too simple

*2011-03-28, version 1.0*

I like the concept, kind of like a scrabble version of puzzle quest, but it lacks the depth of the afore mentioned game. Once you've fought the first level, you basically know how the remaining 24 levels are going to go. Basically, I like it, I just wish there was more to it!

### 3/5 — Not what I expected

*2010-08-20, version 0*

I was hoping that this game was gonna be a turn based game not being attacked while trying to find words. It's ok.

### 3/5 — Creative but flawed

*2010-07-24, version 0*

I enjoyed the premise of the game but unfortunately it is not as compelling as it could be. The gameplay is repetitive and there is little incentive to keep going. The graphics are limited, and using similar (if not the same) letters over and over again per level takes the fun out of assembling words.

### 5/5 — A Timeless Classic

*2023-05-28*

Used to play this forever ago on my old kindle fire. Just as good now as it was then!

### 5/5 — Nine years later, this is the game I have played the most on iOS

*2022-04-19, version 1.08*

A gem. Smart and fun.

### 5/5 — Fun RPG themed word game

*2019-02-18, version 1.08*

I am really enjoying this game, love the old school RPG graphics.

### 5/5 — Great Game but why has the high scoreboard disappeared?

*2018-04-23, version 1.06*

I love this game but my global high score board is blank and won’t allow me to post my scores - what’s gone wrong? Please fix if possible.

### 5/5 — Nice Word Game!

*2013-08-09, version 1.05*

Fun word game where you have to form words from a jumble of letters. There's more strategy to it than that, and it's set in a dungeon where you are supposedly using "magic" words to defeat monsters. This game also has a number of Easter eggs that will surprise you with a chuckle. Nice way to pass the time on the bus or something.

### 5/5 — Good game

*2012-07-07, version 1.05*

Excellently addictive word game with adventure added.
well worth a try.

### 5/5 — Forget Sleep...You

*2012-06-05, version 1.0*

This is quite possibly the best word game out there. I've played all the great ones: Words With Friends, Word Weaver, Abca, Bookworm, Woodwarp, Magic Words Arcanum, Word Crasher, and Textropolis, but this one is the most fun and challenging. Don't get me wrong though. All the proceeding are very good and have MUCH to offer, but Dungeon scroll is probably the most imaginative, challenging, and greatest one out there. NOTE: The developer is coming out with version 2.0 soon to fix the bugs which cause the app to crash on my 4S. Can't wait!

### 5/5 — Needs to make allowance for special needs players

*2012-01-18, version 1.0*

I am a big fan of rtsoft games, and was angry when I couldn't come close to beating this game on normal. I didn't want to practice or go down to easy like a little girl so I wrote an application that took the letters I had left and made the longest word using them. I set the level to hardest and painstakingly paused, entered in the letters, generated my words and then entered the into the game for quite a while (think hours) until I had beaten the game on hard.
Now you're probably thinking that I deserve to be on the high score list and be praised for my ingenuity and perseverance BUT as I was submitting my high score it informed me that I had paused too many times and was unable to submit my score!
This is a shocking error on the developers head and I hope the person responsible feels terrible.

### 5/5 — Amazing Word RPG

*2011-11-14, version 1.0*

Dungeon Scroll is actually pretty cool. The game is a cross between Text Twist, Boggle and Scrabble, with monsters you defeat creating word "spells". The RPG elements are very light, and include boosting your health, boosting damage, add luck for magic tiles or add points to your lot, and they come up as you're playing the game, so, its a no brainer. The addicting part comes with the attacks as some of them get faster and harder as you go along. The game is so addicting, I just wish it were a little longer. (the harder levels really are hard.) If you pay attention, Dungeon Scroll is also humorous, with the random items you find as you play the game. If you like word games, the price is right for this retro styled gem. (Wishlist: The graphics could be a little better. The game could be a little longer with additional worlds and more monsters. It would also be fun to make this multiplayer online to play against your friends ala "Words With Friends".)

### 5/5 — Great

*2011-07-25, version 1.0*

Great little game.
