### 4/5 — Great game, but a battery drain

*2015-01-12*

I like this game a lot... It's like Dungeon Raid but there's a lot more to it (items, equipment, quests, etc). The only problem is that I feel it drains the battery a little faster than a game of this type should. Still, a fantastic game and I'll probably be playing it for a long time to come.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2014-07-11*

I like it very much . Strategic part and building of character are very engaging... If I could think of a just one thing missing, it would be a tiniest animation of a fight somewhere in the top of a screen , because all these monsters must have faces !!! I don't like to think how they look like as I progress in the game ... Just a bit animation something a kin of "Devil Shard" , and the game would be 11/10 perfect !!

### 3/5 — Good concept, but not very polished...

*2014-02-14*

The actual gameplay is nice, the matching is a refreshing change from typical match-three games because you can connect diagonally as well. Not competing for matches against the opponent lets you set up larger matches, but it also means that the matches are much more predictable because the enemy always does the same amount-ish of damage (plus occasional extra skills).

However, it seems like there are some pretty obvious improvements to be made:
     1. When the Merchant appears in a dungeon, if you don’t buy anything, you end up fighting him. This seems like a glitch?
     2. Gold does not carry over when you die, which is already dumb, but it makes no sense that your “bank” of gold is replaced with whatever you happened to have collected at the time of death. For example, if you are saving up for something and have 400 gold, then go adventuring and collect 25 more, but die, your total gold drops to 25. Leaving the dungeon before dying seems to add the collected gold, however.
      3. It took me a good 20 minutes of playing to realize that you could buy gear and upgrades. A brief walkthrough would have pointed this out, and because you can’t see how much gold you have until you go to buy something, at first I thought gold was pointless.
     4. Enemies aren’t really very different. Some have special skills, but there isn’t much variety.
     5. “Classes” aren’t very different at all. Exaggerating the strengths and weaknesses in this case would be a good thing.

In all, it’s a fun game, and has potential to be great, but it’s not there yet.

NOTICE: The “Support” link on this page links to a website for a game that isn’t actually this game. Not sure who has the power to change that.

### 5/5 — Simple and effective.

*2013-11-09*

This really hit the spot when I was searching for a good puzzle rpg. It is simple and it is really good, a winning combination when it comes to handheld games. The difficulty ramp up is spot on also. I only manage to get to 75 monsters or so before getting destroyed. Only one gripe though, the defense stat doesn't seem to do anything at all. Monsters still do 100+ damage when they have 100 power and I have around 400 defense.

### 5/5 — Dungeon Story

*2013-09-03*

Hi I'm Tom from Portland,OR
I just download this game onto my iPod and just made an awesome discovery. You can upgrade a lot things I like that a lot. This game is new beat game by far. Thanks from Tom.

### 4/5 — Good

*2013-07-22, version 1.4.0*

This app is pretty good! Get it!

### 5/5 — I like this game

### 5/5 — Well done

*2013-07-09*

Heavily influenced by Dungeon Raid, but this is actually a good thing. A great game, and not a carbon copy. However, in early gameplay, there are a few balance issues I noticed.

*Tavern Quests are a bit too varied in difficulty. Killing 5 boss mobs in much easier than 25 normal mobs, the sheer number and scaling makes the latter much more difficult. Most of them are alright, but several playthroughs reveal which ones you want to aim for.

*I'm not quite sure this is intended... But when you decline a merchant and close out the shop, you fight him, and he has 1 HP. Nice for picking up coins and taking a health break, but still, I don't think it is supposed to be that way. If so, ignore this.

Other helpful things would be a brewery progress bar, unless it is very quickly obtained, and a total gold indicator when you pause a dungeon. Overall, a very addicting game, and has a hard limit, as opposed to Dungeon Raid, where an infinite game is possible if you set it up correctly.

### 3/5 — Fun but have issues

*2013-07-06*

Purchased the double coin option from the store only to have it revert to single coins after resetting my iPad. Fun game but it would be nice to have a restore purchase option.

### 4/5 — Pretty cool!

*2013-06-18, version 1.4.0*

Rpg elements cover a lot. Slow moving... Can't just blow through it. Pretty cool!

Needs in app support to report bugs/contact dev etc.

The town elements- starting off on lvl two for greed doesn't work on blood dungeon.

Also -5% off gold doesnt work on upgrading ind stats

### 5/5 — Great casual dungeon crawler

*2013-04-29*

I like the ability to purchase equipment, items, and training. I like the different character classes and the advancement of each without losing your level. I like the quests for a short and sweet play, since the actual dungeons can get lengthy.

I don't like the random aspects sometimes. Go into battle with a dragon, full health, full energy to shield, heal, or bomb. Bit, you still lose because the dragon used dragon fire countless times in a row, which knock you down to 1hp. I guess it's an element of luck, but sometimes it's a game breaker when it shouldn't be.

Overall, I'm giving it 5 stars because I do really enjoy playing it, even after passing level 100. Most games don't keep my interest that long.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2013-03-19, version 1.4.0*

I really can't believe how much time I've spent on this game! There's nothing sweeter then making a ton of gold, buying new items and watching the damage pile up. I would however like to see a picture of the enemy or the hero or even just the attack if possible, I'm also genuinely interested and excited for any future updates

### 3/5 — inferior Dungeon Raid clone

*2013-03-11, version 1.4.0*

just not as good

### 5/5 — Suggestions for an already great game

*2013-03-01*

This game is really fun to start with... However as time goes on, leveling up gets boring. Thus I agree with below that this game should have an ability tree of some sort to spice up leveling up. Still a great game, though.

### 4/5 — Awesome but one problem

*2013-02-28, version 1.4.0*

If u die ur coins that you find wont be awarded u have to complete the missions that are suuuuupeer long

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — update!

*2017-12-22, version 1.4.0*

Will this app be update to support the new iOS and devices?

### 1/5 — I have no time for this game! Plus, it is very boring!

*2016-11-28, version 1.4.0*

Blah! Yawn
I am 😴 of this game. 💤

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2013-01-13, version 1.4.0*

This game is just a poorly copied version of the vastly superior Dungeon Raid. Get that one instead. You'll be glad you did.

### 1/5 — Copy cat of Dungeon Rain

*2013-01-11, version 1.4.0*

Yup. Just another cheap Chinese knock-off. Wish there was some actual ingenuity or innovation in this game, but alas, there is none here.

### 1/5 — Give me a good player incentive to update.

*2012-11-15, version 1.3.2*

Monsters can become "enraged". Well, one of the good tactics in this game is to hold a teleporter/goldfield monster at bay and clean up on gold while balancing between collecting gold and healing. You've taken this away, so what does the player get as part of the "balancing"? Or are the changes to make the game even more of a grind?

From Zhong's comment, it is a good thing that I didn't update!

On a positive note, something to add would be a small chance after defeating a monster (based on luck and how many monsters previously slain in the run) to enter a "Treasure Chamber" field of all gold. Reset the chance after a Treasure Room encounter.

If you like Puzzle Craft (which went free today), then you will like this with a Dungeon RPG theme.

### 1/5 — Worst upgrade

*2012-11-15, version 1.3.2*

After the newest upgrade, this game became a junk, the monster too difficult to defeat, and all the new function are rely to the Iap.

### 2/5 — Update it to work on IOS 11

*2017-10-03, version 1.4.0*

Please update it to work with IOS 11, I can’t play it now because I have IOS 11

### 2/5 — Shame

*2017-01-25, version 1.4.0*

I think I've already reviewed this game..however I've been playing for a while now and it's a shame really because I actually like the game..

But the ranking is poor while the baddies get stronger your level never seems to improve that much, when you gain a level your stats don't refill. You could find yourself facing a tough creature with better life while your stuck with a board full of coins that you collect one at a time and no hearts to replenish your life.

The graphics are nice tho'.

### 2/5 — Has potential but in-app purchases? Really?

*2014-03-30, version 1.4.0*

This is not a game that can request in app purchases. It is a nice $0.99 game and a full version of it should be sold for that amount.
Nevertheless, boss fights should not be made super hard to lure people in buying addons.

### 2/5 — Dungeon Raid clone

*2012-11-20, version 1.3.2*

Okay, so Dungeon Raid is hardly an original game in itself, but this game is so much a clone that it even uses the same sounds!!

Of course, its cloneliness of a great game is what makes it good. But it still has a huge issue, and that is that it's just one monster after another - unlike DR, which has randomly (but appropriately) leveled monsters and occasional lulls so you can collect stuff like money, in this game the monsters are queued up one after the next, each one stronger than the last. There is no chance to recover or collect coins except when you simply have to because there's nothing left on your screen.

Hey, I don't knock clones - especially free ones. But if you're going to copy a game so shamelessly at least make it as good if not better! This can be a good game if the monster queue thing is fixed. Til then, stick with Dungeon Raid - the real deal.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great alternative to dungeon raid

*2017-04-23*

Loved dungeon raid but nothing has been updated with that. Playing this and I still continue to find things I haven't noticed from the start adding to the gameplay.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2016-07-05*

A worthy addition to Dungeon Raid and Darkin. It's too bad the game was never updated further, I'm sorry if the developer had to give up on it due to lack of downloads.
Please come back! Dungeon Raid is being left to wither and Darkin is gone so this could be the game that newer iOS players need!

### 5/5 — Very good

*2016-02-04, version 1.4.0*

You, Sir, did an excellent job.
Dungeon Raid was one of my favorite casual games and you took its formula to another level.

Looking forward to seeing what's next.

Ps. Your interface is just a tad clunky. Otherwise, perfect game.

### 5/5 — So much depth in this game!

*2015-12-20*

Love the game! Why is this not featured as a classic in the App Store?! Wish they would take out the in-app purchases, but it doesn't effect they game play at all. They should make a second one! This it would do so well in the current market!

**Developer response:** Glad you loved it! After so many years your wish has come true! We have now created a sequel, check it out in the App Store :)

### 5/5 — A classic!

*2015-10-28*

No matter how many years go by this has always been the game I'll eventually tune to once everything else has lost its luster.

### 5/5 — Abandoned?

*2015-05-08, version 1.4.0*

There are "coming soon" features in the game but the last update was in 2013 💀

### 5/5 — Best Game Ever!

*2014-07-23, version 1.4.0*

2014 Love the update guys keep them coming :) you can read my last review below from 2012 ;) proud Dungeon Story fan <3

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2014-05-07, version 1.4.0*

Wouldn't it be nice to get another update? I found this game too late to experience the thrill of new content. :)

### 5/5 — Strangely addictive

*2014-02-15*

It is amazing how much time can be spent playing this game. There are enough abilities, items, and characters to level that it sort of has that "just one more turn" feel.

### 5/5 — More gameplay than I anticipated

*2013-12-23*

This eventually got too grindy for me, but I played for a surprisingly long time before that happened. I didn't expect to play this until I had leveled up my character more than 300 times, but this game kept me going for a while. A combination of a fantasy wrapper, items to make a character more powerful, and a variety of opponents requiring different strategies keep this interesting for some time. If you're looking for a swipe to match game that's not just bare bones, check this one out.
