## What is DupFinder?

DupFinder finds true duplicates — not "similar-looking" guesses. Every photo, video, and file is compared by its SHA-256 content fingerprint, so a match means the files are byte-for-byte identical, even when the names are different.

PHOTOS & VIDEOS
Scan your entire library, see duplicates grouped with thumbnails, keep the newest copy with one tap, and delete the rest safely — everything goes to Recently Deleted, recoverable for 30 days.

SIMILAR SHOTS
On-device visual analysis groups retakes, bursts, and near-identical photos. Adjustable sensitivity, instant re-grouping, and a swipe mode to review each shot full-screen.

SCREENSHOTS
iOS tags screenshots natively, so DupFinder lists them exactly — in a photo grid with one-tap selection and smart picks like "older than 1 month."

BLURRY PHOTOS
Every photo gets an on-device sharpness score. Review the blurriest first and clear them in bulk.

DupFinder now runs on iPad.

A sidebar puts all nine tools one tap away — Exact, Similar, Blurry, Screenshots, Large, Review by Month, Files and Contacts no longer hide behind cards. Grids use the wider screen instead of stretching three columns across it, and swipe-to-review is tuned so a nudge no longer counts as a decision.

Everything still runs on your device. No accounts, no analytics, no uploads.

Select by dragging, better duplicate contacts, and better German.

SELECT BY DRAGGING
In Screenshots and Large Files, drag across the grid and everything between your starting point and your finger is selected — not just the thumbnails you cross. Drag back to release. Hold near the bottom edge and the grid keeps moving while you keep selecting.

DUPLICATE CONTACTS
Contacts that share a name are now found even when the whole name sits in the first name field with the surname empty — the way contacts imported from a SIM or from a messaging app are usually stored. That case was quietly missed before, so scans could report nothing while duplicates sat there. A contact with only a single-word name is still left alone.

GERMAN
Every German string has been read end to end by a native speaker and corrected.

SETTINGS
Selection haptics can be switched off if you would rather select in silence.

SETTINGS
Everything in one place — appearance, language, photo access, reminders, storage and the keep list. Open it from the gear on the Home screen.

PARTIAL PHOTO ACCESS
If you shared only some photos with DupFinder, it now says so, and lets you add or remove photos and albums without leaving the app. It also tells you plainly that duplicates outside your selection can't be found — a short selection makes the result incomplete, not just smaller.

SELECT BY SWIPING
Press and hold, then drag across a list to select many items at once. Works on exact duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos and contacts.

REMINDERS
Cleanup reminders now tell the truth: if notifications are switched off for DupFinder, it says so instead of claiming a reminder is scheduled. Reminder text is translated as well.

Plus German wording corrections throughout.

DUPLICATE CONTACTS
Finds contacts that share a number, an email, or a full name. Before every merge you see exactly which contact is kept and what gets copied across. Nothing changes without your confirmation.

LARGE FILES IS NOW A GRID
Thumbnails with the file size, and the length on videos. Press and hold, then drag to select a whole run at once. New filters: screen recordings, short videos, 4K videos and panoramas.

VIDEO COMPRESSION, REBUILT
Videos now shrink reliably, including smaller ones that used to be skipped entirely. Large videos are encoded in short segments and the progress is saved as it goes, so if you are interrupted you carry on from where you stopped instead of starting over. You also see a real time estimate before you commit, measured from how fast your own iPhone encodes.

One honest note: iOS does not allow any app to encode video in the background, so DupFinder has to stay on screen while a video compresses. It keeps the screen awake for you and tells you how long it will take.

KEEP LIST
Swipe right and choose "Keep all" — that group never appears in a scan again.

YOUR CLEANUPS
The home screen now shows how much you have freed in total. Measured, never estimated.

Compressed photos and videos also keep their original date, location and album.
