I get what you’re trying to do with keeping everything internal but not having any way for artists to a) search for venues and “apply” or b) mark ourselves unavailable on days in the calendar is a burden. Totally understand if you don’t want non registered venues inadvertently advertised via the calendar but let us block out days or even time slots. That way venues can see if we’re booked already or not. ### 5/5 — BEATGIG IS THE 1 APP! *2025-03-07, version 29.0.0* I joined BeatGig in December 2023, and by March 2024, I had already received my first gig as a DJ at Throw Social DC. Going by the name DJ Ghost, I can confidently say that BeatGig has truly transformed my career. The platform opened up new opportunities and gave me the exposure I needed to take my passion for DJing to the next level. The process was smooth, and the support from BeatGig has been unmatched. So I went through the arduous task of setting up my account and artist page. However, there is seemingly no way to search for gigs in your location. In NY, and ALL the listings are for TX and FL. I’m hoping I’m just doing something wrong, but I have tried many different things and nothing is working. I hope this turns around cus the idea is great. So far, it’s awful. ### 1/5 — Bad For Musicians, great for venues *2024-09-17, version 26.0.0* I’ve gotta start by saying this is a great idea on paper. The issue is that hard working musicians ultimately must concede to whatever venues want to pay them. If not, the venues will just find an amateur who isn’t a career musician who’ll play for $50 for 3-4 hrs. That’s not how this industry works. With the same logic, I should show up to the bar and be able to negotiate what drinks or meals cost. With this app, gone are the days of setting your own prices. This app favors venues NOT musicians. Don’t let venues control the industry. You need some kind of manager approval to set up your account so there is now way to book your own event through this unless you have a lengthy and unnecessary phone conversation with a “account manager”. App is incredibly glitchy and any asks for information or help or assistance goes unanswered. I would avoid this app for two reasons: one, it’s not very well put together, two, it undercuts and pays less to working musicians than what the standard market rate in any area is, and then they take a percentage from that. For booking/management services, you can do way better. ### 1/5 — Not a good experience for me. *2022-12-09* I was booked as a DJ. Told me to play different music than what the owners of the venue wanted, said they would connect with the owners on my behalf and then ghosted me and cancelled all my bookings. Used my likeness before asking my permission. Wasn’t a respectable business relationship. I was asked to edit this review to exclude the name of the person I was dealing with but wanted to remain transparent about my poor experience. 2 stars because they at least paid me more for the gig than I asked for, even though I was told I’d have a residency before beatgig was even involved with the process. Didn’t feel like I was genuinely valued. Actually one star because I feel like they only reached back out to me so I wouldn’t give them a bad review. Unfortunately can’t say I trust my booking agent. Would love to do more business with Beatgig but I believe in myself more than I believe in this app. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Solid way to manage bookings and payments with venues *2025-12-17, version 30.2.0* I’ve been using BeatGig as a musical artist, and I have found that it is a solid all-in-one platform for scheduling gigs and receiving payments. It is easy to navigate and is connected seamlessly with other platforms (email, bank accounts, etc). I initially had a little trouble setting up my account, but the customer service was very helpful and attentive in getting those issues resolved and understanding my needs. I was playing the same venues regularly and not really getting a ton of traction. I started using BeatGig in 2023, and the results were almost immediate. I was able to play new venues in key cities. Better paying gigs with more of a crowd. The staff at BeatGig is responsive and will help you with your goals. They also have the resources to create and distribute and EPK and get you some new opportunities. The app is user friendly and well thought out. The Analytics feature helps to easily track income and keep things straight for tax season.
