### 3/5 — Good but needs an update.

*2025-09-28, version 1.7*

Look I like giving games a shot and I can tell this game is good but I can also see it needs an optimization update. I find the art style great and fidget is neat but without an update the game runs with 3 fps when in combat. Im sad I got it without knowing its laggy combat. I already like the game, but I’d probably get it on steam instead. I just want to see it at its full potential. So please update this game. [Update.] this game after reopening it did begin to work, but I have noticed that it takes 7 to 8 minutes before it starts having a frame drop. I still highly recommend this game though do you be cautious there are safe points required to save your prop for us and it might require you closing and reopening the app every eight minutes to continue playing as long as you reached a checkpoint you are a ok

### 2/5 — Нету звука

*2023-08-10*

В игре отсутствует звук, нету музыки

### 2/5 — Crashing

*2022-11-11, version 1.7*

I’ve heard this game is good. I just can’t play it. I just bought this game. Every time I start a game, it crashes. I literally can’t play the game☹️.

### 5/5 — A Fantastic Game that You Must Try

*2022-08-21, version 1.7*

Dust was a fantastic game to play! The story and art was phenomenal. There’s also plenty of content in game to keep you busy. It’s still so crazy how a game this fantastic manages to run on a phone.

This is a must have game. The price is well worth it and you get so much content for it.

I wish there we more games like Dust. I’m a bit sad to say goodbye since I finished the game but it was a very enjoyable experience. Again I definitely recommend it.

### 5/5 — Best game ever

*2022-06-02, version 1.7*

Love it love it love it love it thanks so much for putting this on the iPad and iPhone and you did great

### 5/5 — Best in class

*2022-05-04, version 1.7*

This game is “old” and still better that pretty much everything in the App Store. Pay once and that’s it. Awesome graphics and completely voice acted. Nuanced yet simple gameplay mechanics. Great with or without a controller.

### 4/5 — The graphics need to improve.

*2021-12-26, version 1.7*

Please improve to real HD.

### 5/5 — Epic game!

*2021-10-20, version 1.7*

Excellent game with a heartfelt story. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Best of the best !

*2021-09-24, version 1.7*

The game is a classic arpg with stunning artwork and an epic ost. After replaying the game twice (2017 and 2021) I can’t say my experience have been anything short of spectacular. Aside from the main quest there were plenty of areas to revisit for exploration and side quests. Not too much npcs or npc interactions but for this type of an 2D arpg format it was sufficient. The battle mechanics were smooth and seamless; the boss skills acquired after defeating bosses were quite a unique concept. The interaction between Dust and Figet had the yin and yang factor. The protagonist was taciturn and stoic; the side kick was humorous and verbose (Almost Banjo Kazooie esque, expect Banjo was clumsy and Kazoorie was hilariously eccentric). Dust and Figet were an epic duo on an epic adventure. The ending left me with wanting more. Hoping and waiting for part 2 to be released. One of my top 3 arpgs of all time.

### 5/5 — 👍👍👍👍👍

Good👍👍👍👍👍🌼

### 5/5 — One of the single best games I’ve ever played.

*2021-05-02, version 1.7*

The voice acting and hand drawn environments and characters alone make this game one of the best I’ve ever played. But the incredible story is the most amazing and is what makes this game second to none. The cut scenes are beautiful and the gameplay has been well adapted for mobile. The plot line and characters are irresistible, making this game impossible to put down once you start. The fact that it is fully voiced is a quality that very, very few games have and the voices chosen absolutely fit the characters completely. It is truly a work of art. I am very glad to have played this game and experienced the masterfully crafted story and world. The characters of Dust:AET will forever have a place in my heart.

### 5/5 — Countless hours and nostolgia!

*2021-04-21, version 1.7*

I’m not ashamed to admit to that at all. It was so good, this is the first game I wrote about for my first (SFW) fanfic without using the word “said” as a personal challenge just for fun (from the prespective of the Fidget, the best side character in any video game; she needs more love)

I beat this masterpeice twice on Xbox 360, twice on PC, now on mobile and the Switch will be next for sure, pouring countless hours into the game just listening to the slappin’ music!

My *only* complaint would be the time-trials, but with enough trial, there will be less error (pun intended)

This game definatly deserves all the praise it gets, and I’m still playing it to this day (in 2021) so they did something right! Cannot reccomend this game enough and looking forward to a sequal!

### 5/5 — ✨

*2021-02-17, version 1.7*

Amazing! Graphics are awesome and the whole plot is just so interesting! The ending was sad but amazing!!

### 4/5 — Why is there keyblade in this game?🤥

*2021-02-09, version 1.7*

First off this game is good good story everything but… why does dusts weapon look like a keyblade?
Ahem did u get that from kingdom hearts?
Just next time don’t put a keyblade in a game but otherwise the game is great 👍

### 5/5 — (:

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not optimized for iPad mini6

*2022-06-27, version 1.7*

Ratio cuts off buttons. Unplayable on new iPad mini

### 1/5 — Not working on 2020 iPad Pro 12.9

*2021-01-17, version 1.7*

Games great, played it on PC, but whenever I start the game on iPad I just get the backstory narration with a black screen that never ends.

### 1/5 — I love this game, but I seem to have a major problem!!

*2020-11-22, version 1.7*

This game is amazing, with a wonderful story, graphics, and more. Although, ever since I wanted to create a new game the screen goes dark when I hit play. The narrator talks but I can’t see nothing and when it’s done it just stays blank with no audio. What should I do?

### 1/5 — Game wont load past the title screen

*2020-10-29, version 1.7*

Purchased this game for my iPad Pro 12.9. To my disappointment the game does not load passed the title screen. I can hear the narrator but the screen itself is black. I’ve reinstalled the game a dozen times to no avail. If anyone has a solution, could you please share? I’d love to get refunded for this app

### 1/5 — Broken game

*2020-10-28, version 1.7*

I would like to get my money back because I couldn’t even play the game all I get is a blank black screen

### 1/5 — Black screen. Does not work.

*2020-10-24, version 1.7*

Should work with my iPhone. I get a black screen when I get passed the title screen. Wont work. I feel like I should get my money back, because Apple says this will work on my iPhone.

### 1/5 — Good game but doesn’t work

*2020-10-21, version 1.7*

I loved this game on PS4 but can’t play it because when trying to start a new game the opening cutscene just loops over and over

### 1/5 — Game is broken

*2020-10-13, version 1.7*

I see a lot of people complaining about this too. Once you try to start a game it just plays the audio for the intro cutscene and is just stuck there with no way to continue. This game is amazing, but it is also currently completely broken. I hope the developers can fix this eventually

### 1/5 — GAME IS BROKEN

*2020-10-11, version 1.7*

Cannot advance past first intro scene. It’s just a black screen with audio and no way to advance.

### 1/5 — Update please.

*2020-10-09, version 1.7*

Yes it’s a fairly old game but if it doesn’t work then you should remove it from the App Store. Doesnt work on iPhone 11 iOS 14. Title screen works fine but after you load in the narrative is just a black screen and looped. Wasted 6$ for now and I doubt it’ll be fixed.

“Come on dust you gotta get up”

### 5/5 — One of the best games ever.

*2024-11-25, version 1.7*

On my 9th birthday way back when, i received an xbox 360. Excited to play all the newest games i came across the demo for this game, by far after playing all the other games and demos Dust: AET was my favorite of all of them, even just the simple demo on the 360 was enough to show the great storyline, amazing art, and the fullness to the game. Unfortunately my family was not able to afford the game or had access to the internet to do so, so when the time came around my xbox eventually became buggy, out of service, and barely runnable (i still have it bc she was my first console) but due to this and me just growing up over the years i was never able to play the full game. Years later i found this on the play-store for a small price, i was so excited to finally be able to play this game I’ve admired since my childhood and I’ve got to say. It is truly one of the most amazing games I’ve ever played. The soundtrack was beautiful, the Art is beautiful , the storyline and atmosphere of the game is just phenomenal. I mean truly i am so satisfied with how this game was everything i pictured it to be, It brought heartbreak, it brought laughs, it brought satisfaction. I Highly recommend you play Dust :AET 10/10.

Truly a Beautiful and Amazing Game.

### 5/5 — iPhone 12 and I’m assuming above iPhones issue

*2024-10-18, version 1.7*

The game is great but on my iPhone 12 Pro it will run amazingly until like 20 minutes into the game I doubt Humble Hearts still updates Dust: AET anymore but if you do please fix this issue. P.S Dust: an Elysian tail is a god like game

### 5/5 — Oh dear, how am I to ever sleep now?

*2023-06-30, version 1.7*

As of 1:56am today, a few days after purchasing this game, I have finished it.

I initially came across this game through exploring some of the older works of the VAs here, but I suppose what made me stay was because it kinda reminded me of my childhood. I knew of the game in passing as I grew up, but I didn’t really know the title or anything. I knew nothing about the content or concepts going in.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m a student fresh out of high school freaking out about basically everything there is to freak out about, I barely made it out alive. I came to this game with the idea in mind to use it as a kind of comfort. I typically end up falling in love with older or ‘lost’ content from either before I was born or from when I was too young to comprehend/be exposed to it. It’s rather annoying if you ask me, but I digress.

The world that I find myself in now isn’t at all what I expected it to be. It’s a bit of a cliché to say maybe, but after Covid hit, I feel like everything shattered. I don’t think enough people realize how much of a mass-psychosis we’re living in right now because of it, it’s not like anything was done about it. I feel like I’m picking up the tinniest shards of myself and trying to fit them anywhere they could go.

It’s kinda funny how relatable Dust is in terms of character struggles for this era we’re in specifically. I mean, it’s not like having a life crisis is something that’s only happened recently, but more people are having them now I think, and in a much heavier manner.

I miss traditional animation all the time when I see new content, but I guess the industry may be changing right around now with the movies coming out most recently.

I used to play games with my brother all the time, bright and early in the morning even, but it’s been years since we’ve done it. My brother is also currently in a different state as of now, so it’s a bit hard to do nowadays regardless. I miss it…

Now for the actual review of the game itself! (THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS OF THE GAME)

I suppose I feel the most inclined to say something about Fidget first. I have no idea how she was received when the game came out, but I get the feeling that some may have just pegged her as annoying and useless on principle (you know, if the accusers couldn’t read or something). I like her a lot, she’s definitely one of the better companions out there to have present throughout a journey. She’s ignorant about a few things, but it makes sense considering she’s probably never left her people before, and it isn’t painfully obnoxious like some characters.

I like how this game handles tragedy, honestly I was a little shocked when the father in mudpot died, but it foreshadows the concepts the game ends off with nicely. The themes really make this game applicable to anyone.

The hand-painted backgrounds and animations are gorgeous and provide interesting environments that aren’t super repetitive, and the little bit of 3D animation for Ahrah and the coins and such are a very nice touch. I think it lends itself quite well since Ahrah is technically a separate being and it probably made it easier to handle in making the game I’m sure. All the characters we interact with are unique and devoid of same face syndrome, the monsters are all different and the banter we share with Fidget is fun (I love the occasional fourth wall breaks, it could’ve easily been overdone but it didn’t interfere with my immersion of the game for me).

This game did comfort me, truly. Could just be because of the fact I made it that way in my head, but I really did enjoy it. It’s a classic to me.

I think I’ll make a wax seal for Dust and Fidget if my sister can help fill-in the colors I’m missing.

I don’t really anticipate anyone to read this, I am late after all, even missed the 10 year anniversary by a full year, but I guess I just couldn’t stand not writing a review. I’m just missing everything I have to leave behind already, I suppose…

### 5/5 — 10/10. A game that never dies.

*2023-06-04, version 1.7*

Wow, just wow. This game aged super well for the time being. The Plot, the characters, everything. Is perfect. I love the effort put into this game, I hope those years of making the game was worth it!

Oh yeah, and I may be a little late, but happy 10th anniversary. This game is one I will cherish. Super fun, and somehow addicting to!

### 5/5 — Stunning! Blew me away!

*2023-03-15, version 1.7*

The visuals, music, voice acting, story, all of it is excellent and is totally worth the price! Wish I could re-experience when I first played! Overall great! This is what makes a great game!

### 5/5 — Great Action with Light Metroidvania

*2023-02-01, version 1.7*

Enjoyed the heck out of this game. The fighting and gameplay is fun and rewarding. Love the Metroidvania aspect of the game. But where it really shines is the compelling story and characters. The voice acting is rather good. It’s got controller support. Highly recommend this title for Metroidvania fans.

### 5/5 — Nostalgia

*2022-11-06, version 1.7*

I’m first played this game years ago on Xbox 360 and fell in love. With one of the most unique story lines I have ever played through it keeps they player engaged with not just the story but the characters, you meet so many and get attached to some. With side quests and different game difficulty’s it’s hard to ever get bored with this game. To anyone wondering if this is truly worth it, you just need to trust me and play it to believe it!

### 5/5 — Nice

*2022-09-11, version 1.7*

No other way to put it, it’s just a great game
