At first. Until I realize there are controls labeled in the menu but not doing anything. And then there are random crashes. Oh how dreadful they are. Every time that happened, I lose all of my good weapons and there’s no way to buy them back. Very frustrating. However, the level design, plot, controls, and some other things make me sad. You need to do the same 3 missions until you get to the boss level like 6 times. Minor things, like high sensitivity, not being able to cancel a shot, and no way to toggle between running and walking all come together to leave a bad taste in my mouth. If you want everything this game has and more, play Space Marshals. Once you get the setting to auto reload and the use of weaponry/hiding/run away while reloading, it’s actually pretty easy. But it is so frustrating to play that I consider not. It simply closes down mid game sany times every day. Doesn’t matter whether I just restarted or not. The little fest I got was four games. The mechanics are simple and easy to understand, and blowing away robots with old-western style sci-fi fantasy revolvers feels great. I do have one issue though. Whatever I do there is no sound to it. Ive tried everything, but it refuses to give me an audio experience. Pretty disillusioned by that. But, I have encountered absolutely zero micro-transactions and no ads, which honestly makes me ecstatic. It’s hard to find a game like that nowadays. I hope the devs are able to separate from Netflix and make it even better. ### 3/5 — Crashes a lot *2025-04-01, version 1.3.1* In the middle of a mission the game crashed and it probably wasn't my iPad because I have one of the most newest generations of iPads and when it crashed all of my data was lost ### 4/5 — Don’t let the stars stop you - it’s great *2025-03-05, version 1.3.1* I gotta say when I popped into the game I was leery with all the poorer review scores. I love this game, it’s in a lot of ways a mashup of space marshals and Borderlands. I do think there are some polish issues, do I can’t give it 5 stars even though in a lot of ways it deserves it! I really hope they give this a polish pass vs just letting it sit in its current state. Has the potential to be one of the TOP games in the App Store. ### 2/5 — Good but major design flaws *2025-03-03, version 1.3.1* (Update 3/24) Found yet another bug - in a Transmit signal mission in the marshes, couldn't activate the signal with the item, so I had to quit the mission causing me to lose and buy back my weapons 😖. Also, what spending batteries (or whatever that resource is) to "activate system" do??? I tried it once, and it didn't seem to do anything. Waste of resources. 😒 Also, the first and second bosses should be switched. The second one is way easier than the first. Man I like playing the game, but just SO many bugs and design flaws. (Update 6/12/23) Wow just uncovered three bad bugs in the process of like 20 min. So last night the game crashed on me while on a mission. I didn't bother going back into the game. Today when I did, I had no weapons, and the Buy Back counter was empty. So I lost my really good weapons I'd acquired weeks ago! Then I played a sabotage mission, and the last control center to sabotage was unreachable - the electric fence that usually goes down after killing everything in the room never did. So I couldn't complete the mission. I returned to the main menu, hit continue, and guess what? The game treated my "failed mission" and returning to the main menu as a death! So I had to go and buy back the not as good weapons I'd just acquired. Lowered from 3 stars to 2. The game needs some serious work. (End of update) Overall the game is fun and has a cool aesthetic. However, there are some serious design flaws. There are holes in the maps that allow you to get to areas you're not supposed to be in (though there's nothing in those areas - they're empty except for environment props). The on screen controls need to be adjustable - being able to move the buttons around, swap sides, etc. The "easy" and "normal" difficult levels should be renamed to "normal" and "hard". The AI for the enemies on "easy" and low skull rating maps needs to be checked - there are times when they'll all come out at once and flood the player - that does NOT make for an easy level. Finally, and this is the biggest flaw, F'K boss level 4!! The boss fight is ridiculously hard with all the lasers, and it's just stupid - the wack-a-mole robots are NOT a boss, and putting on tons of lasers that aren't used anywhere else in the game is a pathetic cop-out way of making the fight hard. ### 3/5 — Great Game, unacceptable crashes *2025-01-19, version 1.3.1* This game is so great with a lot of personality and great gameplay loop, but the random crashes every 3rd run or so are unfortunately game breaking being that they wipe guns and progress back to base rather than checkpoint save. Ideally fix the crashes, but otherwise implement checkpoints so you can at least hop back in where you progressed to until it’s fixed. Uninstalling for now. ### 3/5 — Great game but oh so glitchy *2025-01-01, version 1.3.1* Seriously one of the funnest and we'll designed game I've played on iPhone in a long time. While the game has many great things going for it like good graphics, good playability, and just fun; the downsides are kinda overwhelming. For starters there is no description for any weapons. It's tells you basics like damage, accuracy etc.. but there is one gun the reloads all bullets at the same time. That could be more valuable then higher damage and it doesn't tell you! Then there's the glitches. Like others have stated, it'll kick you out of the app in the middle of a level and you are unable to buy back your weapons. Pretty frustrating. Logic behind them are very messy from placement to use. -Why is the switch weapons by the movement. -The gun shooting mechanism is so flippin messy it’s like a catapult shooting style but from the side of the character. -Reloading can often lead to wasting bullets if trying to reload fast you’ll shoot. -Hard to stop reloading and shoot when needed. -Holding the pick up key to delete the old gear, then why have a second icon button say that, have that be the trash key. If it’s just tips make it look like a tip and not the same size as the button?! -The spawn back from mission map is a wasted map and the clone room should be right next to the missions not all the way at the end of the town. From what I’ve played this game has bones but the logic of button layout to its gunplay mechanics make it close to unplayable or at least not fun. The gameplay is normal and not particularly hard, it feels like struggling with bad controls instead is the where the difficulty comes in. You barely get out of training and you cant beat any level. Its actually impressive this developers made a game this difficult and got away with it. Now, graphics are awesome, i have not had any issues with glitches, but you will never win unless, of course, you open your wallet and pay to win. I really respect developers who allow you to change these options and make the experience optimal for you instead of just locking things down to the lowest common denominator, like so many other developers do. This also has great controller support, which is equally as important to me.
