And I downloaded this app as a last resort from trying many apps with pay walls or movie limits. I started using Movie Miner with no expectations because it doesn’t have many reviews. And I am genuinely so impressed with it! I love how it feels like my own personal streaming service. It’s so easy to use, well laid out and has a smooth running system. I love the back up and export option as I am working on a back up spreadsheet as well. It’s hands down the best app I have used in a while and the extra bonus is that it’s free to use! So far, it’s brilliant, easy to add DVDs, easy to locate which version of the movie you actually have, especially as my brother has a lot of old westerns & I have a lot of 1950’s movies myself. I’m looking forward to setting up my library via the app when I have a bit more time. I have hundreds of DVDs in my collection and this app is so efficient I was able to scan most of them in one evening. Other apps place limits on the number of DVDs you can upload but this one lets you load up to your hearts content. So far it hasn't asked me for a penny. In the meantime, you can transfer a collection to another device using the backup feature: Create a backup file and transfer (i.e. Air Drop) it to the other device and restore it there. Have fun! ### 5/5 — I love this *2024-07-07* Finally somehow to keep track. ### 5/5 — Fantastic app *2024-07-06, version 1.11.2* I’ve been looking for an app to help track my AppleTV purchases and with the customisation it’s easy to add a movie and tag it as AppleTV. The great thing is unlike other apps that have separate entries for bluray, dvd, 4K and digital this one starts by adding the movie and then you assign it to all the formats you have it in. I would love to be able to select tags such as 3D Dolby Vision etc and have them appear seperate to the genres also it would be great if I could add a hyperlink that takes me to the AppleTV entry to start watching it. This app has made it much easier to track my 4000 disc collection and digital library. Countless apps start with 15 to 50 dvds then start asking for card information or a monthly subscription. However, when I go to look at my collection, the ads at the bottom appear to be advertising porn. Manual lookup by Title works every time. Cannot determine format from barcode. Seems more geared toward streaming services than physical media though it does work with discs. Nice look though once you have input your library. Handles Shows as one item not 7 seasons individually. Cannot list 2 of the same item separately. For movies added through the search the actual date of release is taken into account when sorting. But you are right, the user can only edit the year. We will be working on it. Enjoy your movie collection. ### 4/5 — Excellent free unlimited app - no ads *2024-11-21, version 1.13.1* How amazing to find this app. It’s free, I can store unlimited DVDs, it scans bar codes, add your own tags (I use mine to say which box they are in), search by title, actor and genre (already there when you add a dvd). So why only a four, well it’s not a fully populated database, but if you are prepared to click the report and give more info button then the developer can fix. I reported one to see if they paid attention, a response by the next day and added to the database, so I have reported every one I have found so far. Next draw back, but again developer responded to my email question, currently can’t share this across my own devices or with my partner BUT they gave me a work around using a backup file…it worked. List is full exportable as csv or pdf, I haven’t tried csv but the PDF worked really well. To the developer, keep up the excellent work. I love the tip jar idea and I will drop something in it. ### 5/5 — Miner “Gold” *2026-07-15* Movie Miner does pretty much everything you need it to do to manage your physical media collection. It is comprehensive, well constructed, and works to continually improve. Just go for the movie nerd mode, you will be pleased. You can create your own tags(providers) so if you own a title on dvd and 4k you don’t need 2 entries. Barcode scanner won’t always work on 4k movies but the search is fast and easy to use.
