### 2/5 — Could be better a lot better

*2026-05-20*

Apparently I have a better hazard perception than the official app and get penalised for it. You have to tap at the exact time and don’t go overboard or you get zero points.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. TSO Ltd is the official publishing partner for the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Our material uses a marking criteria for practice that is as close as possible to the live test. Each clip is marked out of 5, based on how quickly you spot a potential hazard and then how quickly it develops, requiring you as the driver to then take action (for example, braking, changing speed or direction).

If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact our team on feedback@williamslea.com. Many thanks, TSO

### 3/5 — Okay

*2026-01-07*

So I don’t mind this app at all very good for what you need it for the only thing I will say is the way the videos work is not great, screen orientation is messed up tells you turn your phone landscape and the screen is missing, then having to turn it portrait again after every single video is an absolute joke when you pay for this app….

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Your experience using our app is important to us. Please contact us on feedback@williamslea.com and our tech team can assist further. Many thanks, TSO

### 2/5 — Update Needed

*2025-08-08*

Another update is needed
Frequently when rewatching the clip to review your score or skip to the next clip, it only shows 1/4 of the screen, necessitating turning the phone portrait to make it full screen but being given the same message again and again

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We add all customer feedback to our development change log and review it as part of our update programme. If you’d like to give us any more information about your experience, please contact us on feedback@williamslea.com, we’d love to hear from you. Many thanks, TSO

### 4/5 — 🙂

*2024-11-09, version 3.3.1*

Great for additional clips to help practice for the hazard perception.

### 4/5 — Helpful study tool

*2024-10-17, version 3.3.1*

Very helpful to get a learner comfortable with the format of the Theory test

### 4/5 — Review

*2024-08-25, version 3.2.1*

Very helpful thank you

### 2/5 — Poor resolution video and inconsistent.

*2024-07-25, version 3.2.1*

Should do better, this 2024 not 1995.

### 3/5 — Misleading

*2024-07-22*

The official website has a clear example that clashes with the clip 8 of this app. It says a parked car by the side of the road is NOT a hazard, whereas in the app for the said video the parked van is marked red?? it becomes a hazard only when a car emerges from behind the parked vehicle surely? I think hazard perception test is total rubbish to begin with so

**Developer response:** Thank you for your response. Your experience is important to us. Please contact our tech team via feedback@williamslea.com we will be happy help. Many thanks, TSO

### 4/5 — Experienced Driver, New Country

*2024-05-10*

So I had to do the entire Driving Learners Course and I can assure you, my many years of driving abroad in many different countries, still would not have been able to prepare me for the Theory Test in the UK. I am truly thankful and indebted to this App for assisting me before I do take my Theory Test Next Week, I Will keep you folks updated after my exam….. Tim, London

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review! We're pleased to hear that you have found our DVSA Hazard Perception app useful in preparing to take your test. Best wishes, TSO

### 3/5 — Decent and simple

*2024-05-03*

Apart from video quality and one app breaking bug it helps you break into your theory test for a decent price

Pros:

Easy to use

Not too expensive

Informative

Cons:

Using iphone 14 pro max the videos would slip out of focus on on rotation into fullscreen leaving me with mostly a black screen

Video quality can make it hard to see some of the potential hazards especially if you cant watch them in full screen

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that you found our app easy to navigate. We add all customer feedback to our development change log and review it as part of our update programme. If you’d like to give us any more information about your experience, please contact us on feedback@williamslea.com, we’d love to hear from you. Best wishes, TSO

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lag

*2026-06-30*

There’s a huge lag on where the flags are placed on each video. Feels like im being gaslighted by the app. Im also being penalised for clocking too many times even though there’s multiple hazards and there’s 5 points available per hazard which would surely result in 10 clicks? Still handy doing the tests as each one is explained after. £2.99 for that though? Poor

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. Your experience using our app is important to us. Please contact our tech team via feedback@williamslea.com. Many thanks, TSO

### 1/5 — Introduction part not playing

*2026-03-30, version 3.5.0*

Since I bought this app I can’t play the introduction part , the introduction part refuses to play and I use an iPhone pro max . What actually is the issue ? I think this app need updating

### 1/5 — Introductory video doesn’t play - no help offered

*2026-02-06*

They strongly advise watching the introduction video because it explains the test, but after a couple of reinstalls it still doesn’t play and there is no transcript and no contact details for technical help that I can see - only a bunch of circular FAQs that don’t contain the solution.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We would like to assist you with this. Please could you contact our tech team on feedback@williamslea.com. Many thanks, TSO

### 1/5 — You don’t get anything for your money

*2025-12-29*

Don’t buy this. It’s only 30 outdated clips in low resolution that makes it extremely hard to see the hazards. These aren’t the current clips either so it’s not of any use to prep. One of the clips has 4 major developing hazards including a kid running towards the road from your left which isn’t counted. Waste of money.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. The CGI clips are totally acceptable to prepare for the test – they help the user identify a developing hazard. The quality of the clips are sufficient to do this job. The majority of clips we offer are the same concept and scoring mechanism as the real test with points 1-5 awarded. DVSA experts have been involved in setting the scoring windows for all our tests. If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact us on feedback@williamslea.com. Many thanks, TSO

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-10-29, version 3.5.0*

While the Highway Code test is an obvious requirement.
The hazard perception test is a scam to enable a private company and the government to steal our money.
Also, If you pass your test and do not pass a practical test within two years it becomes a worthless piece of paper. Therefore, adding blackmail to theft.

### 1/5 — Mark

*2025-04-21, version 3.4.1*

Rip off and detrimental to passing. The test is CGI not real video. I want a refund. App deleted after 10 minutes of installing it.

### 1/5 — Not very useful

*2025-04-18*

I recently purchased the full DVSA app to prepare for my driving theory test. However, I've been experiencing a frustrating issue with the hazard perception section. The app randomly exits full screen and switches to portrait mode, displaying only part of the video. This forces me to keep rotating my screen to get it back to normal, which is disrupting my preparation.

My partner also decided to get the app for me on her iPad, thinking it might work better, but Im encountering the same problem. Waste of money and app space

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Your experience using our app is important to us. Please could you contact our tech team on feedback@williamslea.com, who will be happy to assist further. Many thanks, TSO

### 1/5 — IJ

*2025-01-15*

Maybe it will be good app, but it’s say u can do only 3 clicks per hazard, on induction video and real test are big difference in what they say, my personal opinion is this programs didn’t teach how to understand, they just exist and show what maybe you get in exam…. Disappointed completely

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! We’d really like to help. Please contact us via feedback@williamslea.com and our team will be happy to assist. Best wishes, TSO

### 1/5 — One of the worse,

*2024-09-18*

You will think this hazard perception app, was made From some random guy. But you got to be kidding, if You think this was a official DVSA Hazard perception App! What a joke! I spent £2.99 on this app, and there is no way off of navigating on this app. Watch Every vid, from the beginning till the end! I should of Just kept to its competitors. Never again believe a DVSA app again! Plus I wish can get my money back! Pls no one purchase this app . When there’s two hazard in one vid. It doesn’t even let you press It ten times, marks it as fail 0 what a waste of time and money! I can’t believe Apple even put this in their App Store. Even the U.K actual official Driving Agency is taking the biscuit! I could of brought chicken and chips with that money! No CGI no update! The biggest joke Apple and DVSA put together!

**Developer response:** TSO Ltd is the official publishing partner for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. We have produced this app, which contains 30 real video clips. When practicing your hazard perception and in the LIVE test, whilst it is at times reasonable to press/click more than once, for example, when what you perceive to be a potential hazard does not in fact turn out to be a developing hazard, you are also warned against excessive clicking, clicking in a pattern, and clicking the same hazard multiple times, can lead to failing a clip. There should never be a reason to click too many times, and we would never recommend clicking more than 1-3 times per hazard within our practice material or on the day of your test. Our app will not accept more than 10 presses/clicks as this we believe would be excessive to demonstrate an understanding of when the potential and developing hazard has occurred. We are interested to hear more on your experience navigating this app and keen to help you prepare for the LIVE test. Please do e-mail feedback@williamslea.com and we will happy to assist.
