### 1/5 — Nothing works

*2024-09-02, version 1.1.8*

Not sure why I just spent $4, literally nothing works

### 5/5 — I bought this because …

*2024-06-05*

I am a game developer and this font was requested by users so they could more easily read dialog. I appreciate the effort made by the dev here, so paying seems appropriate.

**Developer response:** We're thrilled to hear you found the font beneficial for your game development needs, and we appreciate your support!

### 5/5 — Thank you !!!!

*2024-05-21, version 1.1.8*

Thank you guys !

### 1/5 — Great idea

*2024-05-19, version 1.1.7*

This is a great idea only I cant get the font installed to use in pages. Typically installing fonts is super easy.

### 1/5 — Ne modifie aucune police de mon téléphone

*2024-05-18*

Ne marche pas

**Developer response:** Bonjour Chloe 12749,

### 3/5 — Great for iPhones, not great for Mac

*2024-04-24*

I have recently purchased this to use on my Mac as I have found this font really helpful. However, after purchasing the app, I can't seem to use the font in Pages. I have been able to use it on my iphone, but for work I have been unable to open it up

I have therefore asked for a refund on this product as I can't use it how I had intended

**Developer response:** We're sorry to hear about the trouble using the font on your Mac. We understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please reach out through the app for further assistance.

### 1/5 — Never Installs / Doesnt Work

*2024-04-10, version 1.1.7*

Says it installs, but only shows up on Dyslexic app font library, and never in the user fonts library. You also cannot write an email, the button doesnt work. The other buttons for reading websites or scanning documents just take you to the app store to purchase more..oh yeah those buttons work.

### 4/5 — Finally, some kind of help for dyslexic

*2024-04-10*

Many years ago I was in my work place break room reading paperback book(Star Trek series). One of my co-worker who was a very educated teacher ask me why I was reading my book, she said she knew I was dyslexic but could figure out why I was reading a paperback. I told her because air enjoy reading.
Okay, even though I am dyslexic I enjoy reading. Now I’m not as good as a non dyslexics, but I enjoy reading. It’s the one ability I wish I could do better.
To improve my reading ability. I have been to a dyslexic doctor, yes there was one in Great Neck NY in the mid mid 80’s . He prescribed me motion sickness medication. I found out shorty after taking some motion sickness medication that I’m allergic to it. Bummer. I tried colored lens. Look up scotopic sensitivity syndrome. Honestly, I didn’t see a specialist about this treatment. I just played around with some colored lens, blue ones. I think it helped, but I just looked silly with blue tined glasses. Now this dyslexic fonts, I think this is a big win, but not everyone has dyslexic fonts that are available on there fonts apps, so I’m still testing honestly.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your detailed feedback and are glad to hear you find the dyslexic font helpful for your reading experience. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Waste of money and time.

*2024-04-09, version 1.1.8*

Have no idea how to work this… developer doesn’t respond to email. Waste of money and time.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2024-04-08, version 1.1.7*

No response from the seller no instructions nothing! The promise made on site in the name of "Sale" is fake!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stop trying to monetize people’s disabilities

*2026-08-16*

I downloaded this app hoping to have the font used system wide on my phone, but it’s stuck behind a paywall. Can we be so for real? The whole point of OpenDyslexic’s conceptualization was to have a FREE, OPEN ACCESS font for people to have to make their lives a little easier. Do not download, you’re just going to be disappointed like I was.

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2026-07-01*

I bought this app because I figured it would help with my reading. I like the ruler tool a lot. However, it doesn’t scan correctly any of the texts. There is no trial period. $40 absolutely wasted and the way they advertise it you just see it as 0.77 per week. They don’t tell you that you’re forced to buy it the whole year. The scan text does not work because it mixes words together and doesn’t match at all what’s in the textbook. The last paragraph of my textbook was the first line in the scanner.

Do not buy. It’s literally my biggest regret of a purchase. I have never written a review before but I’m literally writing one right now because of how upset I am about the scanner to text not working. That’s the whole reason why I bought the app, and the one feature I wanted to work did not work at all.

DO NOT GET THIS APP.

**Developer response:** Hello Suppppw,

I'm sorry to hear this — especially since this is your first review ever, I know something really went wrong. I'd like to understand exactly what happened so I can improve it.

On the scan: text getting mixed up or reordered usually comes from the photo angle, lighting, or a curved page, but if it happened consistently for you, I'd like to look into it properly. Could you reach out through the in-app support (Settings > Contact) with a couple of the photos you used? That will help me see exactly why the recognition failed on your textbook.

On the pricing: you're right, there's no free trial on the yearly plan. I understand the weekly price display made that less clear upfront — that's useful feedback, and I'd like to know what would have made it clearer for you before you purchased.

Thank you for taking the time to write this, even though it was out of frustration — it genuinely helps me improve the app.

### 1/5 — So far… Not so good

*2026-04-28, version 2.0.3*

The way it’s described once you install this it will work on your existing text message, platform, browser, etc.… So far the only thing it works on is everything that you want to see and read you have to copy and then paste and then read it on this app so now it creates several extra steps, which means I have a 100% chance of not using it and something that I thought that I had found to make reading easier is now 100% unusual… But while it’s not usable in any way form for me at least the developer got their $39.99 well I got something that was unusable

### 1/5 — Do NOT BUY

*2026-01-09, version 1.1.15*

I have a 2022 MacBook Pro, 2023 iPad Pro, and an iPhone 15. I have tried to use this app as well as the harry potter font from this creator and neither of them work. Do NOT waste your money.

### 1/5 — SUCKKKKS

*2025-11-19, version 1.1.15*

They don't tell you what your paying for. Why have it on the apple store if it doesn't work for all apple products. WASTE OF MONEY!!!

### 1/5 — No

*2025-11-09, version 1.2.18*

It on worked IN APP nowhere else. Not god when youre trying to idk do you diploma.

### 1/5 — not currently working in any format.

*2025-09-03*

I took a chance paying for the app would make I work more seamlessly and as of right now it does not work at all. Multiple installations. Multiple approach to different documents. It simply does not work. We really need this font easily useable. Do not fund apps that do not work.

**Developer response:** Hello Doug Notfunnyatall,

I want to be clear about what OpenDyslexic actually does, because I think that's the root of the frustration: it can't replace your iPhone/iPad's system font everywhere — iOS doesn't allow third-party apps to do that. What it does is let you use the OpenDyslexic font inside a specific set of apps (Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Office 365), inside this app itself for writing text or generating images, and in Safari via the built-in extension (enable it in Settings > Safari > Extensions > OpenDyslexic).

You can also import or scan PDFs and documents right in the app — it runs OCR to bring the text into OpenDyslexic automatically, for free.

I'm sorry the scope wasn't clear before you bought it — that's genuinely useful feedback, and I want the store listing to make this clearer.

### 1/5 — Does not work outside of the app

*2025-06-23, version 1.2.17*

Do not waste your money on this. It doesn’t work. It is a rip off.

### 1/5 — OpenDyslexic on Mac

*2024-10-08*

I paid for the app but can find no way to use it. The dialog box that pops up tells me the font has been installed on my machine but it doesn't show up in the font list. No search finds it either. I have paid for something I cannot seem to use. If I could see the font file, I could deal with it but a search for OpenDyslixic just returns the app and we go round the loop again. It's not joined up. A pity.

**Developer response:** Hello svqopsdivheqrvoiyqer,

On Mac specifically: fonts installed through the app aren't always picked up by Font Book the way you'd expect from a normal font installer — that's a real limitation on Mac, separate from how it works on iPhone/iPad. I'd like to look at your case properly; please reach out through the in-app support so I can see exactly what's happening.

You can also import or scan PDFs and documents right in the app — it runs OCR to bring the text into OpenDyslexic automatically, for free.

I'm sorry the scope wasn't clear before you bought it — that's genuinely useful feedback, and I want the store listing to make this clearer.

### 1/5 — The sad truth (Please view if you are the developer)

*2024-10-05*

I don’t want the developer to feel bad, but this app is kind of confusing. In settings it shows all 13 fonts, but how do I use them? I am really thinking that it's not using the fonts at all. But i guess you can create a dyslexic-friendly image by typing… non-dyslexic friendly letters? So please let you use the font on your keyboard. I could buy BTD6 with this money :(

### 5/5 — Finally!!!!

*2025-06-28*

A font I can read!!!!! I wish I knew I was dyslexic when I was a child! I believe it would have changed my life. My parents were big readers. I noticed I had a hard time reading when I was 4-5. It wasn’t until I saw this font in OPEN Dyslexia I realized I was dyslexic all my life!!! I’m 55 years old. I did very well despite dyslexia. But I can only image if I had been diagnosed earlier I would understand why I had such a difficult time reading! Thank you soooooo much!!!! 💕

**Developer response:** Hello Majo1969,

Thank you for sharing something so personal — I'm really moved that seeing this font helped you understand something about yourself after all these years. I'm glad you found it, even later than you'd have liked.

### 5/5 — Si utile au quotidien

*2025-02-24*

### 5/5 — What a Scam

*2024-07-16*

It only allows you to type in the app in the font, not read documents or anything like that
