## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App not worth it

*2016-03-02, version 5.1*

I find it very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend even if free.

### 1/5 — Was great

*2015-10-04*

When it worked

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review 😊
Sorry it stopped working for you. The app has been updated since then — please install the latest version (6.1) from the App Store and try again.

If it still doesn’t work, tell me your iPhone/iPad model and your iOS version and I’ll help you troubleshoot.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2013-11-26*

Ok, the functionality of this app is horrible it doesn't explain how to use it or where these 8 lessons are, and even as you figure it out there are other glitches such as the videos not downloading and the tablature that you can "follow along" with is blocked by the volume control... I want some updates or better yet a refund

**Developer response:** When you launch the app, you arrive on the Home / Main menu.
The 8 lessons are listed right there. To open a lesson, simply tap the lesson title (the row itself is the button).
Videos are available inside the app and play directly.
We’ve released updates since earlier versions and the issues you mention (including UI overlap on some devices) have been solved.
Cheers

### 1/5 — Waste!!!

*2011-11-21*

Waste of money! Hard to understand!

**Developer response:** Sorry it felt that way — jazz harmony can be a bit like a crossword at first 😄
Good news: the latest version is a major update with much more detailed explanations and clearer guidance. Please update and give it another try — and if a specific lesson feels confusing, tell me which one and I’ll point you to the right part.

### 1/5 — Doesn't function

*2011-10-16*

This app doesn't work with iOS 5.0 so I've never seen it work!!!!!

**Developer response:** Totally fair — iOS 5 is vintage at this point 😄
Good news: the latest update should get everything running properly on supported iOS versions. Please update the app and try again! If you tell me your device model + iOS version, I’ll confirm what’s compatible.

### 1/5 — Wake me up when it's over.....

*2011-05-16, version 1.1*

In 25 years of playing, I've never heard anyone make a bunch of notes sound so dull, lifeless and completely uninspiring. The app may be ok technically, but if I were you I wouldn't try to learn anything off this guy in case the complete lack of personality and technique in his style rubs off on you. On the plus side though, the attempt at tapped harmonics was hilarious, but it still didn't make up for having paid for the app in the first place.

### 2/5 — Problem

*2010-12-05*

Couldn't get sound from movies.

### 3/5 — Great...but

*2015-09-27*

Love the app I have been playing guitar for 25 years and understanding Jazz is a bit of a new venture but the app does a good job of explaining it.
BUT I am now having a problem with ios9 the app keeps crashing.

**Developer response:** Thank you — and respect for 25 years on guitar! 😊
Jazz really is a new “language”, so I’m glad the app helped make it clearer.

About the iOS 9 crashes: sorry for the drama — the app clearly didn’t enjoy that update 😄
Good news: a newer version has been released and it fixes the iOS 9 crashing issue. Please update to the latest version (6.1) and it should run smoothly again.

### 3/5 — Fix!!!!!!!!!!

*2011-02-13*

Cant get audio!!!!!!!!!!!!

**Developer response:** Sorry about that — the audio was clearly taking a coffee break 😄
Good news: it’s fixed in the latest update (v6.1). Please update and try again! If it still misbehaves, tell me your iPhone model + iOS version and I’ll help.

### 4/5 — Worth the money

*2012-02-19, version 2.0*

I've had this app a couple of weeks now, and I'm really enjoying it, mostly for the world jazz. I think if you've already got some guitar knowledge this is a good way to push yourself further. The theory could be explained a bit more clearly (although that is hard to do concisely with just text). Well worth the couple of quid it cost.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Highly interesting

*2014-08-20, version 2.0*

If you have basic musical knowledge, this app is a very good way to refresh and exercise jazz theory. The examples seems complicated at first, but once you give it a little effort, they become easy and will impress people around you ! Great app, great results and I just regret there is no sequel with even more examples - It would be worth paying. BTW, the app is designed for iPhone but works even better with iPad as it makes it easier to read the charts.

### 5/5 — Great Learning Tool!

*2013-08-11*

This program is a great tool for those who have some familiarity with the jazz idiom.

**Developer response:** Thank you! 😊
Absolutely — it’s great if you already know a bit of the jazz idiom… but the latest version is also much friendlier for learning from scratch, with a lot more detailed explanations (so it’s less “jazz secret code” and more step-by-step 😄).

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2013-02-10, version 2.0*

The title says it all.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2012-05-10*

I love this app. I am teaching myself jazz guitar and have found it very useful. I think the explanations are clear and concise. Plus they give you tab and video demonstrations. I wish they had more jazz lessons and an iPad version. Excellent app!

### 5/5 — Good jazz for phone (what about iPad?)

*2011-11-26, version 2.0*

I have been playing guitar for 20 odd years and needed something new to play so I thought I'd try jazz. this is a good app for beginners of jazz guitar it comes with audio, video and tabs. My only complaint is it would be good if you could slow down the audio, trying to do the walking bass and chords at the same time is hard but fun trying to master it. Wish me luck. cheers Bigus Nikus

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2011-11-11, version 2.0*

Concise explanation of jazz chord structure. Easy to follow.
Accompanied by tabs, audio and video.
Nice playing!

### 5/5 — Guitar snob

*2011-07-28, version 1.1*

I think that last guy is a bit of a guitar snob cos I've had this app for 4 weeks now and I've learned plenty. Excellent app

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2011-03-23, version 1.1*

Really useful app. More please!

### 5/5 — Jazz great

*2011-01-22, version 1.1*

Top notch, hope we get more by this author. Well done!

### 5/5 — Absolutely fantastic app

*2010-07-30, version 0*

Absolutely fantastic! I've been looking for an app like this for years. It's even better than garage band. I can't belive how much there is to it and how cheap it is. Thank you
