### 5/5 — Woahhh fantastic!!!

*2018-07-07*

I saw this one in the app store and thought I'd try it for the relatively cheap price....my god, what an awesome sampler/instrument!!! so much fun, so interesting and then the really nice user interface makes it easy to explore and experiment. super happy with the purchase!

### 5/5 — Modulation for Modest Mousessssss

*2017-08-11*

Once you get to grips with the controls of this simple looking and elegant tool the results are rewarding...if you like experimenting with sound in myriad forms generic or non generic
Love the developers approach. Very knowledgable, off centre and amusingly humorous

### 5/5 — From a family of winners

*2017-06-01*

All of this developer's apps are top quality.

### 5/5 — Terrific

*2017-05-18*

Great app!

### 5/5 — Great app from a great developer

*2017-05-06*

Now with the core midi switch, Elsa works perfectly inside apps like AUM. Huge thanks to Erik for making this upgrade and being so responsive.

### 5/5 — When you want 'other'. And you do.

*2016-11-26*

Brilliant app. Very easy to come up with new, interesting sounds.

### 5/5 — Best sampler on iOS!

*2016-06-18*

This is one of my favorite iOS music apps! It's got a nice minimal a e s t h e t i c but has the ability to infinitely warp the hell out of your sample library. The drum pad setting is sick, especially if you put a few slices/hits in the same sample file and you can assign a key per hit. The FX sound great, Ableton Link support is really nice as well. The dark mode is also the bee's knees. Anyway, get this app and learn it's awesomeness!

### 5/5 — Searching for "Elsa"

*2015-08-16*

Turns out a hilarious bounty of Disney Frozen apps. How many of those do kids need? I finally kept scrolling and found this.

I downloaded Strng after a recent interest in physical modeling synthesis without realizing that there are many more great apps you had done. And I'm quite obsessed with sample based synthesis right now (with Samplr iPulsaret iDensity etc).

This is a really lovely bit of gear. Your work deserves more attention. With this app, I feel compelled to make a new synth from every patch that I have ever made on my analog. But with every note of the scale slightly different. Really such subtlety beautiful possibilities here.

This is the kind of thing where the less than 5 star reviews made me mad so I felt the necessity to write this. Your colors are perfect by the way.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2015-07-14*

Beautifully simple and incredibly useful. A great tool for sample based ambient / experimental. Just the kind of music app I've been looking for. Wonderful job dev.

### 5/5 — Three word review

*2015-03-20*

Brilliant and exceptional

### 5/5 — Just great!

*2014-10-25*

Elsa is so much fun, so simple yet with lots of depth, I can spend ages developing sonic spaces with it.

### 5/5 — very nice

*2014-05-10*

great App to find useful strange sounds and play away with filtering etc.

### 5/5 — Utterly brilliant Sampler with a lot of features!

*2014-05-05*

I bought Elsa several weeks ago and I don't regret it!
Its so brilliant; your hear an interesting sound, record it (even the inbuilt iphone mic sounds good) and start playing around with the filters and effects.

Only negative point, I already lost tons of hours to this app! ;)

Joking apart, this is the best app I have ever downloaded.
If you like recording everyday stuff and turning it into an instrument, buy the app!
Display and controls are ok (Iphone 4S), although the sliders can be a little trick to operate on a small device.
I guess on an iPad its even more awesome.

### 5/5 — beautiful

*2014-04-30*

really pleasing GUI. sounds great. love the updates.

### 5/5 — V1.1 crashes on iPad iOS 5.1

*2014-04-19*

V1.1 crashes on iPad iOS 5.1 but works fine on later devices... and the logo on the opening screen is even crooked!

Please fix when you get the chance.

### 5/5 — Humbletune's most beautiful app yet

*2014-04-04*

I've got most of humbletune's apps. They are all simply fun. e-l-s-a is the best to date, and that's saying something. Humbletune is very responsive, another plus.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 3/5 — Good but Needs an Update

*2022-04-27, version 1.8.11*

Great sounding synthesis however the midi connectivity leaves a lot to be desired. Also in all of the software synths by this dev, the menu items for Audio copy are hidden while
the phone itself is in dark mode

### 3/5 — Didn't work out for me

*2016-03-18*

Was looking for a sampler for ios, and gave this one a good try, but abandoned it after several hours of trying to get it to work. In general the interface was too obscure and minimal for a sampler. The envelope controls don't seem to work right, or at least as intended.

The tempo based looping is a very cool idea, and the changing subdivision of tempo, but all of the loops are plagued by unartistic pops and clicks every time it loops.

The effects are cool, the bitcrusher especially.

### 3/5 — Pas super

*2014-06-30*

Franchement pas super la machine moi je dit elle vont même pas son prix la rage je regrette un peut mais bon elle fait plus de bruits de micro que faire de bons semples voilà je ne suis pas comme sa je la garde un peut pour plus la découvrir @

### 3/5 — Need alt color scheme

*2014-04-07*

Can't read or see details of ui. needs higher contrast color scheme. cryptic ui as well and can't see type in user guide. iOS needs samplers so please fix so I can use! Reserving higher rating until then but am excited about possibilities.

### 5/5 — I have the bundle! Still cool in 2024!

*2024-05-09*

The controls are somewhat cryptic but once you know what they do (as the on-screen hints indicate) you will find these are very cool apps.

### 5/5 — Mandatory AUV3 Plugin

*2023-04-28*

This should be in your plugin library.

### 5/5 — Removal of dark mode? 🙈

*2023-04-23*

So many cool new features just got added, but sadly, I probably won’t take advantage of them. I have photophobia, meaning, extremely sensitive eyes to light and after having a play with the update the white mode is just too hard on my eyes.

### 5/5 — simple and feels good to use

*2023-04-23, version 2.0.0*

i love developers that make apps that aren't just like every other synth or sampler. The pack was a good deal thanks :)

### 5/5 — good

*2023-02-23*

this sampler sounds modern, I found that when I experimented with the onboard effects that I made some unique sounding things, the bit crush effect and arpeggio effect are a couple of effects that are included in this sampler that you might not find in other samplers, it can sound like an instrument and not a sampler, I love what this developer makes and I hope they decide to make music production hardware in the future if not already

### 5/5 — Superb, creative retro sampler

*2023-01-25*

Elsa is a superb AUv3 compatible tool for recording, manipulating/mangling and playing back all kinds of sounds with fine adjustable tempo-based pitch controls. Virtually all parameters can be midi controlled so you can get very creative using it with automation. It works equally well as a sound design tool or as a musical instrument. Some patient exploration is required to initially work out what does what but well worth the effort. Love it, top marks!

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very very well thought out!

*2021-04-08*

One of my favorite iPad apps ever! It grew on me, at first I did. It like it as much. All the apps in the bundle are hidden gems!

### 5/5 — Fun, simple, many options, small price, 5 stars!

*2020-05-22*

What do you want more? All apps by Erik are so cool. A very fun sampler.

### 5/5 — I have the bundle!

*2018-11-06, version 1.8.1*

The controls are somewhat cryptic but once you know what they do (as the on-screen hints indicate) you will find these are very cool apps.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2018-11-03*

I agree completely with the other review.

However, it would be nice if the user could use his own presets made in stand-alone mode in AUv3 mode (this is also true for the other amazing Tardigrain).
