We have also tried to use the remote control supplies with the electric fire which is also useless. Fire is great (if you can get it to work) ### 1/5 — Complete waste of time *2020-10-10, version 1.1.2* Very excited to have our new Evonics fire fitted a couple of weeks ago. However, the fire is great when it works but it constantly disconnects from the app. The pad that they have provided with it goes flat really quickly and then you can’t use the fire. We have tried to install the app on our iPhone and iPads but the fire won’t connect. New fault found today - it won’t switch off..... Over £4K for a fire that you can’t use, great 😡 ### 1/5 — Absolute Rubbish *2020-09-25, version 1.1.2* Utter, utter crap. Fire looks fantastic, shame I can’t actually switch it on. Literally hours of the ‘scanning’ screen and won’t connect to any of my devices, several iPhones nor iPads. To Evonics Fires - some ‘voice of the customer’ feedback for your marketing team. Release something that actually works or better still, just incorporate a couple of physical buttons in the fire design. Totally disappointed, beginning to think I should have chosen a model from Flamerite. ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2020-08-25, version 1.1.2* The most elaborate way I have come across to switch on a fire. Technology for technology’s sake. Cheap tablet supplied soon runs out of battery and app did not connect to smart phone after 4 attempts and 3 hours of screen showing ‘searching’. Think again Ebonics, your fires deserve better than to be let down by cheap Chinese software. ### 1/5 — Totally useless app *2020-02-26, version 1.1.2* They have actaually discontinued the e_touch app now for Evonic Fires as it wasn’t what customers wanted, load of rubbish, Evonic fires you should be ashamed of yourselves the app was not fit for purpose. Get the app on your phone am told by Evonic yes as long as you only want one app per family, I been trying to get app on my phone can’t pair it as my husband has app, disconnect his blue tooth, done it it doesn’t work, it’s totally useless, avoid these fires like the plague, after service is poor , it’s not as if this is a cheap fire. You can’t turn this fire on by a switch also on the fire as there isn’t one it’s fully reliant on phone app. ### 1/5 — There is no worse App around *2019-12-08, version 1.1.2* Worst app on the market, for anything. Truly the worst I’ve ever used. Hardly ever syncs, can’t be used on more than one device, dreadful button response when charging the temperature and constantly needs deleting then downloaded again just to make it work. ### 1/5 — Useless *2019-10-29, version 1.1.2* Lovely fire but this app has poor connection even when I’m right next to it.... I switched it on 3 days ago and since then cannot switch it off....! Just says “ connection failure “ all the time! Sheesh! ### 1/5 — Probably the worst app in the history of time!! *2019-10-26, version 1.1.2* Absolutely useless. Doesn’t work. Complete rubbish - a bit like Evonic fires in that respect. This isn’t even worth one star - utter crap. No response to complaints from the company. My advice - steer clear of this bunch of cowboys. ### 1/5 — Shocking *2019-10-26, version 1.1.2* What good is a lovely looking fire which can’t be used as the Bluetooth pairing is shockingly bad. There is no manual control so it is imperative that you connect. Evonic we paid a lot of money for this fire and two days in I’ve only been able to connect once to turn it on. This needs looking at urgently or it going back. Sort it out!!!!! ### 1/5 — Remotes and app totally useless *2019-07-11, version 1.1.2* My iPad connected at first but has now disconnected and won’t reconnect. I’ve been through two remotes supplied with the fire and now neither work. They reverted to January 2017 and will not connect to the fire which was very expensive and now can’t be used. ### 1/5 — Bad app, but the fire is terrible! *2019-06-18, version 1.1.2* The app is pretty clunky, but the biggest issue is the control interface to the fire. We couldn’t work out why our app wasn’t doing anything to our fire, it turns out we were connected to our neighbour’s fire!! There is no security at all on the connection, if the fire is not paired with something, then anything can pair with it (eg your neighbour...). And if the fire loses power, or is switched off with the main switch on it, it loses pairing, so then anyone passing can pair with, and control the fire. Evonic really needs to up their game, it’s 2019 and this system doesn’t even meet the basic requirements of IT security, in fact there really is no security. Beyond that, there needs to be a way to allow multiple apps to pair with the fire at once, and basic usability improvements on the app. ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2019-06-02, version 1.1.2* Paid a lot for fire, engineer now been out twice and not in any hurry, plenty of calls to Evonic . Only connects one device, it’s 2019, fire also turns the heating on itself?. Frustrating!! ### 1/5 — Worrying *2019-04-27, version 1.1.1* When you spend a lot of money on a fire you expect it to work.. not only does the app disconnect randomly but the fire temperature goes to high as and when it decides which is a real worry and potentially dangerous. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — E_touch app hopeless *2024-12-01, version 1.1.2* I agree with other reviews. So frustrating when it can only be turned off through the app of whoever has turned it on. This has been reported by pretty much everyone over the years and the company have done NOTHING to resolve the issue. The timer switches the backlight/heater on. BUT. Does not switch it off. It will work for a short period before disconnecting. There is a switch on the fire. The app worked fine for me after I flicked the switch ### 3/5 — Does what the label says, room for development *2020-05-02* A very simple app, it operates effectively as remote control for compatible fireplaces. When it stops being supported you will have to buy a real remote device however. Would really like to see some development from the app developer. Suggestions would be : ability the separate fan control, light control, temperature control. While you can currently turn light up and down, would be good to have a "just light, no fan or heat" mode. (Even at room temp set to 5 degrees the heater still comes on). ### 2/5 — Multiple users unable to connect *2023-03-15, version 1.1.2* This app needs updated so that multiple users, who have the login, can control the fire. For instance one person switches it on but goes to bed. Another person cannot switch the fire off so it stays on all night! This really needs a fix urgently! Found that you can only connect one phone at a time. Annoying when we’re both in the house at the same time and you don’t know which phone has connected. So I thought I’d use an old iPad2 permanently. 2 hours and still it won’t connect to the fire.
