## What is EarDrum?

EarDrum is an all-in-one drum practice app, built by a drummer for drummers. Improve your timing and groove, train active listening and musical memory, and learn the songs you love.

Whether you're practicing at home or building lessons for your students, EarDrum gives your practice structure — and real-time feedback on every hit you play. Use it with your electronic drums, MIDI controller, practice pad, or on-screen kit — import MIDI files and Clone Hero charts, create custom exercises, and track progress over time.

FOR DRUMMERS

- Ear training exercises of increasing complexity — recognize rhythms by ear and play them back from memory
- A short Getting Started course for building rhythmic foundations
- Tempo-changing sessions that build speed, control, and endurance
- Focused practice built from the song sections you're learning, teacher assignments, or drum book exercises
- MIDI song import for play-along practice with looping and custom sections
- Clone Hero song import — play community drum charts at the difficulty you choose
- Metronome with subdivision and time signature selection

FOR EDUCATORS

- Custom timing and ear training exercises, from simple patterns to multi-bar phrases, tailored to your students
- A simple, fast sequencer-style exercise builder
- Shareable exercise links your students or followers can import and practice in the app

PLAY YOUR WAY

- Support for e-drums via USB or Bluetooth MIDI, a practice pad using the built-in mic, or virtual drums on screen
- DAW-grid and sheet music views for different ways of reading drum parts
- Adjustable tempo, repeat settings, and volume levels

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

- Real-time visual timing feedback — see whether notes land early, late, or on time
- Velocity feedback for dynamics exercises — train the stroke technique behind clean, consistent accents, taps, and ghost notes
- Comprehensive session results with rushing/dragging analysis and accuracy/velocity charts
- A practice dashboard with history, streaks, total time practiced, and recent sessions

EarDrum is more than a metronome or a rhythm game. It's a practice studio for drummers, percussionists, teachers, and anyone serious about rhythm — a place to become a better musician.

### 5/5 — The best app for drummers

*2026-08-02*

This app has all the features I could ask for in the perfect app for practicing drums. The ability to import your own songs is great. I use this app for all my practice sessions now. Thank you for creating this app and continuing to update and improve it. I really appreciate it!!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m really happy the app has become part of your practice routine. Your support means a lot and keeps me motivated to make the app better!

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2026-07-01*

This app became my daily driver for practice. It nails everything I reach for most; a proper metronome, smooth midi play along, and a fast intuitive builder for making my own drills. The midi feedback is also extremely useful. If you’re serious about improving, get it. Thank you for building this.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much. The drill builder took a lot of iteration to get feeling fast and intuitive, so great to hear it's working. Really appreciate the kind words.

### 5/5 — Powerful tool for drummers

*2026-05-25*

More customizable than the alternatives., better visualizations, and you can even import midi.
I use it as my main practice tool now

**Developer response:** Thank you! 'Main practice tool' is honestly the goal, so that's great to hear. Lots more in the works.

### 5/5 — The ultimate vdrum practice tool

*2026-05-22*

If you play drums, you need this app. I am blown away by the practice tools. The analytics and sheet music feedback on my own music or any MIDI file with a drum channel are incredible, and the DAW view is super helpful for visualizing what I'm playing. It also paired perfectly with my Roland vdrums with a TD-07 module.

**Developer response:** Really appreciate this, thank you. The DAW view took a while to get right, so glad to hear it's actually useful alongside traditional sheet music. Happy the TD-07 setup worked well, I used that module with the app for a good stretch myself. Thanks again for the support.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-05-14*

EarDrum is a fantastic practice companion for drummers who want to improve timing, accuracy, and groove in a more structured way. The app gives detailed feedback on every note you play and makes working with rudiments, ear training, and MIDI songs much more effective and enjoyable

**Developer response:** This review honestly means a lot - EarDrum started as a solo project to scratch my own itch as a drummer, so hearing it's helping someone else practice more effectively is the best feedback I could ask for. If you ever have ideas or feature requests, feel free to reach out directly. Thanks for the support!

### 5/5 — A great app

*2026-05-07*

I’ve been using the app since it was in beta, and it’s honestly one of the most useful music-learning apps I’ve tried. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, the exercises are engaging, and it actually makes ear training feel motivating instead of frustrating. I especially like how practical the lessons are - you can really notice progress over time.

**Developer response:** This review really means a lot. Beta testers shaped a huge amount of what the app became, so reading that the result feels clean, engaging, and actually motivating to use is the best possible outcome. Thanks for sticking with it from the early days - lots more coming.
