## What is EarGuru?

Only you can do the work of serious ear training. EarGuru helps you do it with three independent modes, each targeting a specific area.

In LISTEN mode, EarGuru plays a group of notes, all different, and you try to identify them from lowest to highest. Beginners will want to start with 1, then move to 2. Experts can go all the way to 11 notes if they choose to.

In PLAY mode, EarGuru plays a note, or a chord of up to 4 notes, and you play it back as quickly as possible on your instrument before it moves on to the next one.

In SING mode, EarGuru asks you to sing a note, and as you're singing, EarGuru plays the note so that you can make sure you've sung it correctly and in tune.

All three modes can be used without looking at the screen, using the CONTINUOUS PLAY mode.

This app relies on you, as a serious musician, to self-evaluate. If used regularly, it can completely transform your hearing.

## Key features

- Note identification in LISTEN mode
- Instrument playback in PLAY mode
- Singing pitch accuracy in SING mode
- Continuous play for screen-free practice
- Adjustable difficulty levels (1-11 notes)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-04-15*

Hi dan,
I’ m using your app almost everyday for ear training. The “module” is great. I don’t know if you’re still maintening the app but a great feature could be “melody” : a bit like play but with multiples notes : you could choose
 - how many notes you want to guess
- the max Interval between those notes
- the time you want between each melody to play

**Developer response:** You can kind of do this by using the "Listen" mode and adding chord arpeggiation delay in the preferences. Try this and let me know :-)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-03-24*

This app is great:
1) great interface, intuitive, simple yet complete with lots of different options to customize exercices
2) great exercice modes:
   - listen, with very cool and practical continuous play
    - play , no other ear training app has done this feature quite as practical as this app to play along with your instrument.
    - sing, very important aspect for ear training yet usually neglected on other apps, with continuous play as well.
3) developed by a great musician, Check out his records and his blog with very interesting videos on harmony or pythagorean temperament
4) all in all best app ive used (and ive used many) in getting your ear trained on aspects that you will apply in a real musical setting

### 5/5 — Colour is hard to see red, can’t see red so well.

*2023-03-24*

Hard to see red.

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective

*2023-02-11*

I’m using this app as a supplement to a sight-singing course. It’s a very good app in that role. I think that even by itself it would yield valuable results.

### 4/5 — Excellent, but…

*2023-01-19, version 1.2*

This would be a five-star app if the tones in the Play section didn’t clip on their attack.

### 5/5 — Great app! Tiny but useful and addictive

*2022-10-01*

Almost meditative as you just keep trying ‘one more note’ (or chord) thinking of each interval as you go and upping the difficulty. I’d encourage any other users to write a review as I’ve seen too many useful apps like this vanish from the App Store.
