### 4/5 — What happened? Doesn’t work with IOS 16.1.1

*2022-11-18, version 1.2.2*

I’ve relied on this app and enjoyed for years - then my iPhone updated to IOS 16.1.1 overnight and poof,… the use of the internal phone mic is gone. I checked the mic using voice memo and yes it does work fine. Something about the 16.1.1 update has caused a disconnect. When will this bug be fixed?

### 4/5 — Works better than my expensive hearing aid

*2022-11-01, version 1.2.2*

My Signia hearing aid makes everything loud but I can't understand words. With this app I can watch television and understand everything. Amazing. Thank you! The stress of following conversation is gone.

### 3/5 — Bad sound

*2022-02-23, version 1.2.2*

It works while watching TV but has bad crackling sound. I’m going to look for something better

### 1/5 — Only works with wired headphones - pass

*2020-08-12, version 1.2.2*

I was really hopefully for this app, but it only works with wired headphones and that just doesn’t make sense in 2020.

### 2/5 — Eh

*2020-08-08, version 1.2.2*

Does it work with discord??

### 2/5 — Doesn’t Work on iOS 13.5.

*2020-07-01, version 1.2.2*

Freezers frequently on iOS version 13.5 to the extent that the app is virtually not usable. If you go to the settings function in the app and then back to the app main screen the screen is reduced to 1/2 the size and is not functional. This is a great app but it should work on 13.5.

### 1/5 — Crash on Load

*2020-06-24, version 1.2.2*

I need this app to hear and now it doesn’t work at all. Please fix this I use this app daily to hear.

### 1/5 — Can’t make it work

*2020-02-07, version 1.2.2*

I tried this a few months ago and liked it. It worked fine with the cheap headphones I was using. But then those quit working, and I didn’t replace them right away. Now I‘ve bought some good Bose headphones. Apparently in the meantime the app developers have decided that they will only support Apple ear buds. I can’t get Bose to work, even with the cord. All I get is an error message telling me to plug in the ear buds.

### 1/5 — No Bluetooth ear buds???

*2020-01-20, version 1.2.2*

It’s 2929 folks, aPP-le stopped putting connectors on phones 909 years ago. We’re having serious hearing issues, these boomers us. Now fix.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2019-12-26, version 1.2.2*

I used this app occasionally over the last two years after it was recommended by a friend. Went to use it for the first tome in a while only to discover that it will not work unless I have Apple EarPods connected which I don’t own and have no intention of buying. Deleted the app as it is now useless for me now.

### 4/5 — Good so far

*2019-07-12, version 1.2.2*

Still testing the app, but I would like Bluetooth earbud support, and the ability to control the app with an Apple Watch.

### 4/5 — Bluetooth?

*2019-03-01, version 1.2.2*

Bluetooth compatibility would be great!

### 1/5 — Useless need apple headset, doesn’t work with Bluetooth headsets!

*2018-12-29, version 1.2.2*

Common idea is to work with nose or other Bluetooth headsets

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work on Bluetooth

*2018-09-25, version 1.2.2*

Seems like EarPods and this app would be a natural fit but only works on wired headsets.
Claims needs the mic from the headset when you try and start it.
Wired it seems to work pretty well. But I have little interest in going back to wearing wires on my ear as anymore.
Hopefully this updates to include the Apple EarPods , I’ll adjust my rating accordingly

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t load any more

*2022-12-06, version 1.2.2*

This app is no good. The app support is not supported either. Don’t bother trying it.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2022-11-26, version 1.2.2*

Downloaded this to preview it for a family member who has partial hearing loss. I’m not sure if the App Store has the correct version but what I received is totally unusable. The sounds are garbled and strange and normal voices sound like they are being spoken by a robot.

### 1/5 — Ear Machine does not support airpods

*2022-03-23, version 1.2.2*

Ear Machine fails using air pods
seems you have to use wired Apple Earbuds
useless application given this limitation

### 1/5 — Almost destroyed my ears

*2022-03-20, version 1.2.2*

I opened this app with a volume of 1, I plugged in headphones because it needs headphones to work, and I slightly increased the loudness and the app automatically turned my iPad volume to 100% and it gave me a heart attack

### 1/5 — App will not connect to Apple ear buds.

*2022-03-08, version 1.2.2*

This app works with only wire ear buds, it will not connect when I have wireless Apple ear buds in and on.

### 1/5 — Non-starter w/o retro wired Apple earpods

*2021-07-04, version 1.2.2*

I use bluetoof earpods, by JLabs, not
Apple. A deadstop right there. I dont own wired anymore

### 1/5 — Its still crashing

*2021-03-29, version 1.2.2*

Bruh

### 1/5 — keeps kicking me out

*2021-01-15, version 1.2.2*

it keeps kicking me out.

### 1/5 — Bluetooth?

*2020-10-12, version 1.2.2*

This app doesn’t work with Apple AirPods Pro, so what is the point of it existing? How stupid do you have to be to have a sound app that doesn’t work with Apples premier listening devices?

### 1/5 — Won’t run

*2020-10-04, version 1.2.2*

Crashes immediately on ios14.1

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

😃

### 5/5 — Great for blind people

*2020-02-06, version 1.2.2*

This app is great for blind people. For that matter, it’s great for everyone.

### 5/5 — Great free app

*2020-02-01, version 1.2.2*

This is better than some high priced subscription application. Too bad there is no Bluetooth option, but still 5 stars!

### 5/5 — 👂🏻👂🏻👂🏻👂🏼👂🏽

*2019-12-02, version 1.2.2*

Love how simple it is to use and sound Quality is excellent. Like the option to switch mics between phone and headset. And unlike other hearing apps this one don’t try to hustle you for money every other time you use it. Also there is a reason why wired headsets are used Bluetooth headsets have horrible sound Quality on a analog type system for hearing. Wired is the only way to go for High quality live sound.

### 5/5 — Best of class

*2019-06-28, version 1.2.2*

I have been trying four hearing apps on iphone X w/Apple earbuds and also a few hearing aids. My issue is not volume but clarity with multiple talkers, words in songs, talking room to room, etc. Ear Machine (on iPhone X) runs flawlessly and does this quicker, easier, and more effectively—without fiddling with settings, profiles, etc. For me it is as good or better than the $2K-$6K hearing aids.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-06-12, version 1.2.2*

Only suggestion is to make it comparable with Bluetooth headphones

### 5/5 — Good but need upgrade

*2017-07-25, version 1.2.2*

Please update it to work with Apple wireless Airpods

### 5/5 — WHAT A BOON!! SAVED ME!!

*2017-05-19, version 1.2.2*

I'm sitting at a 4-day business conference, as I write this. One of my hearing aids is entirely nonfunctional; the other needs adjustment badly. My first day at the conference: The small meeting rooms have no mics; the large room does, but in both cases, all I'm hearing from the speakers is "Mrrr-brrr-nunn-bunn-sbee-brrr-gnn." And I'm gonna have four days of this? I'm considering spending the four days in the hotel bar. (Might as well!) I'm thinking, "Someone should invent an app for this." Then I'm thinking, "Hey, maybe someone did." So I go to the app store and ... WHAM!! There it is: Ear Machine. WOW!! Loud! CLEAR! I was just hoping for a volume boost, but there's a separate, adjustable high-frequency boost as well. Sibilent sounds are suddenly back. "Wrist" no longer sounds like "rift." I'm hearing and understanding every single word from every speaker. EVERY word, clear as a bell. My hearing aids, when working properly, were not this good in a conference-room situation. Saved the entire conference week for me. WOW, again! And many thanks!

### 5/5 — WOW WOW WOW

*2017-02-23, version 1.2.2*

Just happened upon this while surfing the App Store. After downloading and sampling several others, this is phenomenal. I had a hearing test and was diagnosed as needing hearing aids, well, for now I think I will stay with this amazing find. Adjustable volume and tone control, clarity is fantastic.
Thank You
