### 4/5 — A useful addition

*2026-04-19, version 1.0.8*

Had more luck with Earplanes on my second attempt and the app helped, although I did take multiple other precautions against barotrauma so it’s hard to say what made a significant impact. Definitely worth a try.

### 4/5 — Airplane

### 5/5 — Love these

*2024-03-21*

I have been using these since 2011 and they have made flying a million times more comfortable because the pressure really kills my ears

### 5/5 — Great review

*2024-03-02, version 1.0.4*

This app has taken the guesswork out of when to use the earplanes. This means I was less anxious and felt more in control of my ear health during flights. A great app
Thanks

### 5/5 — App works for any earplug

*2024-01-06, version 1.0.4*

I bought a generic pair of airplanes ear plugs and used this app…worked great

### 4/5 — Does what it says on the tin

*2023-10-30, version 1.0.4*

Helping to know when to insert and remove the plugs in air. Wish I could see historical data.

### 5/5 — Love Earplanes!!!!

*2023-10-24*

I have Eustachian tube dysfunction and suffered on airplane flights for many years until I found Earplanes. They really work! Now I discovered the app for Earplanes and what an amazing experience. The app allows me to fine tune when to put them in my ears and when to take out. I am no longer dreading to fly due to ear pain. Thank you Earplanes!

### 5/5 — Life savers

*2023-10-21, version 1.0.4*

Worked like a charm. And I get bad ears on flights. Minimal popping. Worked great. Thanks ear planes!

### 5/5 — I LOVE this app!

*2023-09-24, version 1.0.4*

I have small Eustachian tubes so pressure changes are painful to my ears and wreak havoc on my sinuses. I use Earplanes and the app even when traveling on land. I’m positive that it’s helped me avoid sinus infections.

### 3/5 — Needs better alerts

*2023-09-06, version 1.0.4*

Wish while I was driving up to the mountains or back home I could get better alerts so I'm not watching my phone for time to put them in.

### 5/5 — Works

*2023-09-03, version 1.0.4*

Definitely helps

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Never worked

*2026-08-03, version 1.0.8*

Absolutely nothing - tapped start a million times - deleted and reinstalled app - nada

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-04-07, version 1.0.8*

You can’t even give it the permission it requires. Can’t start the app cause it keeps asking to update the settings however it already has notifications turned on

### 1/5 — Some kind of glitch?

*2025-02-27, version 1.0.8*

I’ve turned on my location settings with them and yet it still says I need to activate them.

### 1/5 — Unable to fetch data: useless

*2024-06-02, version 1.0.7*

After setting up the various permissions required, and after repeated attempts to “Start Flight”this useless app was unable to fetch any data let alone “initial” data. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-03-26*

While the verdict is still out on the Earplane plugs themselves, the app definitely doesn’t work. I tried updating everything, restarting my phone, etc, but the app never measured the pressure in the cabin. I automatically just put the plugs in during the last 30-40 minutes of flight. Solid idea for those of us who have trouble with ear pressure during flying, just wish it would have worked.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2024-03-13, version 1.0.4*

I’ve used this app and plugs successfully on this iPhone 13. On my current flight your app opens but displays no pressure or altitude readings or graph. No notifications about when to remove or replace plugs. iPhone 13 updated to 17.4. What happened? Please fix.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-03-10, version 1.0.4*

App doesn’t work at all tried changing several different settings on my phone and couldn’t get it to work. Waste of space

### 1/5 — inaccurate

*2023-10-14, version 1.0.4*

altitude is not accurate, it’s telling me i’m 114ft up but my compass app says 40 ft - FYI, i’m at the airport too not even on the airplane yet

### 1/5 — Not happy

*2023-03-19, version 1.0.4*

First time using them and mid flight they already stopped working

### 1/5 — needs a no-notification mode

*2023-02-27, version 1.0.4*

I put the plugs in before the cabin door closes and remove them after it opens. I don’t need an app for that. It would be nice if I could just see the cabin pressure without the privacy violating location services and annoying notifications. Useless for me without that.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2026-08-11*

Really helps my anxiety about my ear pressure while flying. Makes the climb out and landing much more comfortable and lets me know when to put the earplugs In. Also helps to know what the pilot is doing which is fun if you enjoy aviation.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2026-07-14, version 1.0.8*

Makes my ears much more comfortable during flights. It’s also super interesting to track air pressure change! I just wish the altitude equivalent could be displayed in metres too.

### 5/5 — Work great

*2026-03-23*

Me and my mom went to Chicago for spring break and on the way there on the plane my ear were hurting really badly so when I landed I looked up what can help and it said these so I went to the store and bought some and now I just landed and my ear feel like nothing this product works very well so does the app and you can also we’re headphones with them on.👍

### 5/5 — Good product

*2025-05-26*

Every time I flew my ears would hurt so bad or I would pop my eardrum until I started using this product. When I use it in the air I have no pain and no issues whatsoever. I will say though for shorter flights you might have to wear them the whole time but I still highly recommend this product.

### 5/5 — Ear plugs

*2024-07-23*

The app enhances the best product ever.

### 5/5 — Dr. Andrew Michael Hararah DO

*2024-06-03*

This is a great product made better with the app to help prevent or diminish ear and sinus discomfort due to rapid changes in air pressure. I personally use it when I travel and recommend it to my patients. It’s safe, effective, and inexpensive. Now with the app any rapid changes in pressure mid-flight can be addressed. Thanks for an excellent and easy to use product that markedly reduces ear and sinus discomfort from flying. It also works great for mountainous driving (but not by the driver). Kudos to the people that make Earplanes.

### 5/5 — My Ear planes

*2024-05-20, version 1.0.7*
