We've considered adding dozens of features including a choice of sound, timers, display options, and adding an About Box and a "Review Me" alert. We are a team of engineers and we LOVE building stuff! However, with Earplug, we have to stay true to our first, minimalist principles. The sound would probably be good at masking other noises, but I’ve only tried it in a quiet environment so far. App is simple and yet it is almost too simplistic. I have lots of (great apps) but this one has better sound and it does everything I need. Love the colors too. (I find I can get more volume control using the slider on the Home Screen. In May Chicago was cool and inundated by daily thunderstorms, and Tornado Alley from Oklahoma to Ohio saw destruction by multiple tornadoes on a daily basis. Outside my windows it was as quiet as winter, save for the cozy thunder. Today I threw the windows open to catch the fresh summery air. Children are shrieking, A man is singing, People are yelling and talking loudly, The loudspeakers at the train station are announcing, The motorcycles are out again. I tap my Earplug and put it in my shirt pocket, the speakers peeking out at the top. No faffy settings or unnecessary features to fiddle around with and get distracted by. One piece of feedback I have is: stop playing when headphones are disconnected (physical or Bluetooth). It's the entire point of the App, and you've understood it completely. If you want features, control and choices, you definitely don't want to use Earplug. Google "white noise apps iPhone" to find an app that more suits your taste. Please consider removing this negative review or changing it since we do what we promise. Read the description which describes the App fully. Would you give a spoon a bad review because "it's just a spoon?" An iPhone? Facebook? A football? A cigarette? A tangerine? I got this for free during a promotion, but you can’t seriously tell me one solitary brown noise sound is normally worth £4.99?!! You can get Relax Melodies Pro for £2.99, and get this sound and many many more, plus a sleep timer (which this doesn’t have). This app does white noise like no other. It is a soothing, masking sound unlike anything else. Thank you! UPDATE: Even though I'd already given this app 5 stars, I'm updating it to reiterate just how great it is. My circumstances have changed and I can no longer use headphones, but even using it with just the phone speaker it still works very well. I have come to rely on this app so much to get a decent night's sleep that I can no longer imagine my life without it. And still to this day, its simplicity is its genius. Just one tap to open the app, and go to sleep. It presents what the description claims to a tee in my opinion. No extra controls or other complications. Just simplicity and a great source of calming relaxation I’ve found here. All you need to do is open this program up and it instantly starts playing the white/pink noise combination. The only other option is to pause the noise and that’s it. I like sleep sound applications that offer tons of features and options for sure. Especially ones that let me record my own sleep sounds. But, there is just something about this app’s no muss no fuss, simple setup that makes it easy to start it and hopefully have a good rest, night’s sleep or just as a great way to reduce environmental noise and distractions I think. Simple is definitely sometimes better I believe. I like to use, Earplug, in conjunction with my Sony SRS-XB40 Bluetooth speaker and play it loud to help me zone out and relax when I’m stressed out. I really appreciate as well the many different ways that you can control and play this application. I believe that if you want one of the best white/pink noise applications out there with just the most simple control scheme that you could imagine. That, Earplug, is probably going to be your best bet on the App Store. Also I wanted to note and extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the developer of this program for offering it for free today. Thank you very much for that generosity. Yet, seeing how well that I think, Earplug, performs now. Well, I would have gladly paid the asking price for sure. Seeing how well that Earplug performs made me also want to check out and possibly buy this developer’s cool looking MIDI controller app that I saw listed below. I wish that it had a demo possibly because the price is a tad high, though no doubt worth it from reading the reviews. But, it definitely looks rad and I as much as I love finding new sleep sound applications. I also love finding new music apps as well. We made this app to use it ourselves and we think distraction-free, single-use, well-polished apps should be more common. We're so glad to get a witness for what we're trying to do here! Regarding MIDI Designer Pro 2: it's an iPad app that became a Universal app (iPhone & iPad) back in 2014... so the pricing is a bit outrageous for the iPhone-only market. We're thinking of fixing that in 2023 by releasing an iPhone-only app, but it's currently months away... and that may be subscription only so might not help the issue ;) Thanks again, glad to hear that you loved Earplug and left a well-written, positive review.
