### 4/5 — Nice

*2025-02-01, version 1.0.3*

It’s good but can you add a sandbox version for the 2d earth.

### 4/5 — Good but missing somthing

*2024-11-12, version 1.0.3*

I like this game but I wish that you add a 3d model of the volcanoes ensted of 2d

### 3/5 — Grayed our options?

*2019-09-02*

I can not use all of the options in sandbox mode now :/ I am on iOS 12.1.3 IPAD 2018 32gb wifi UK Please fix

**Developer response:** Sandbox tools are unlocked as you play through the book. That is the only reason they would be grayed out. (Unless you’ve discovered a new bug.) Apologies if this wasn’t clear!

### 2/5 — Boring

*2018-03-18, version 1.0.3*

For the first 10 minutes it was fun, but it got old really fast. I would not recommend.

### 5/5 — Absolutely phenomenal.

*2017-01-31, version 1.0.3*

BUY THIS. WOW. This would be worth every single penny even if it was $20. I've never in my life seen something so educational so incredibly well designed in both presentation and execution. Absolutely incredible. 17 out of 10. I truly hope to see more in the future.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2016-10-26, version 1.0.3*

As with most expensive apps, this one is well worth the money. Extensive graphics allow you to simulate all kinds of geologic processes; like mountain building, erosion, volcanoes, flooding, beach formation, and so on. A fun way to learn basic geology.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2016-05-01, version 1.0.3*

The best feature is the "sandbox," which lets you manipulate a piece of earth and ocean; you can raise mountains, bring rivers and glaciers to the sea, shift global temperatures and watch as plateaus desertify or rainforests move to the coast. There's endless variation. I wish there were more apps like this. Also, the soundtrack is wonderful.

### 5/5 — A new kind of book!

*2016-02-23, version 1.0.3*

Wow. This is so cool! I read about this App on Wired and decided to check it out. Well, I've never had an interest in geology, honestly, but learning about Earth by playing with simulated, volcanoes, mountains, dunes and glaciers is so cool that I'm learning about geology simply because Earth Primer so fun.. It makes me wish there were more things I could learn in this way!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2016-01-20, version 1.0.3*

Thanks for the iPad Pro compatibility!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2016-01-20, version 1.0.2*

It's actually a really awesome app

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2016-01-11, version 1.0.2*

This app is the best yet it would be cool in the sandbox mode if you could add humans and animals and humans could build buildings to start civilization will be fun if they could like run around and hunt

### 5/5 — The future of interactive media

*2016-01-03, version 1.0.2*

This app showcases what interactive media can be. Not just books displayed on a screen, not just hyperlinked pages, but fully interactive models that teaches intuition about the way things work.

### 5/5 — Highly recommended

*2015-12-11, version 1.0.2*

This is a excellent educational/simulator/physics style app, very well presented. Only cons I have about this app is I wish the sandbox map was a little bigger or a larger scale.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Earth Primer

*2016-01-26, version 1.0.3*

This app is frustrating. I like the idea but I cannot get past the second slide. There are no directions. I am a science teacher and would like to use this in my class but it is not user friendly therefore, I will not be using it.

### 1/5 — Don't buy for iPad pro

*2016-01-10, version 1.0.2*

Unreadable on the larger iPad. Broken software.

### 1/5 — Still not working on iPad Pro

*2016-01-06, version 1.0.2*

Over a month and the app developer has not patched the app. Save your money for something else.

### 1/5 — Wasted $10

*2016-01-01, version 1.0.2*

Does not work on iPad pro, and rinky-dink developer does not care. Save your $.

### 1/5 — Can't get it to work.

*2015-12-19, version 1.0.2*

Using an iPad Pro and I'm stuck in the table of contents. Developer hasn't updated in almost a year. Looks like I'm out $10.

### 1/5 — iPad pro display issues.

*2015-12-11, version 1.0.2*

Made the Apple Best of 2015 list and doesn't render correctly on the iPad pro. Very disappointing considering the price.

### 1/5 — Not working on iPad pro

*2015-12-11, version 1.0.2*

Does not work on my iPad pro. Looked attractive, very disappointed as my children

### 1/5 — Do not waste your money on this app.

*2015-02-14, version 1.0.1*

I saw an ad for this and it looked really interesting. I usually do not purchase apps so I figured I would make an exception this one time. It was simplistic and not engaging in the least. Do not bother with this one.... It is boring.

### 1/5 — Needs a bit more...

*2015-02-09, version 1.0.1*

I was hoping this had hurricanes and twisters as well as earthquakes for the sandbox aspect. Also a time speed option would be nice :)

Overall I would say this is app is 6.5 out of 10.
The price though... eh maybe $1.99

### 1/5 — Does not work!

*2015-02-07, version 1.0.1*

As a former Earth science teacher, I was curious about the app. I was never able to get beyond the "surface" screen — there were no buttons to select anything. Apparently, you cannot proceed until you get past that screen. I'm sorry I spent ten bucks for the app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Timeless

*2025-09-24, version 1.0.3*

Best interaktive Simulation ever. Wander WhatsApp The dev is doing These days

### 5/5 — Wonderful educational tool, but so much potential for more!

*2023-02-11, version 1.0.3*

This app is brilliant, a wonderful resource for educator to implement in the classroom as an introduction to geological changes of the earth - I only with the creative tools involved exploring simulated volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis as well (part of the primary curriculum). I did find another app which complements this one, but I’m surprised to find there’s no sandbox simulation programs exploring these phenomena in depth (I’ve been searching and the closest I found was through TinyBop - you can at least see/experiment and interact (minimally) with a volcano/earthquake, but there’s no explanations of what’s happening and I haven’t found anything for tsunamis). I hope the developers of this app consider expanding their already awesome simulation software into these areas as it would be transformative in the classroom! No more vinegar and bicarbonate volcano models forever, please!!

### 5/5 — Still love this

*2021-04-17, version 1.0.3*

Glad it still works on newer iPads. I love playing with the biome maker. Just wish they had made a follow up.

### 5/5 — Divulgativa y espectacular

*2020-07-07, version 1.0.3*

Entra por los ojos, literalmente, favoreciendo la exploración con sus gráficos amables y cuidados y sus sonidos de naturaleza.

Toda una lección de Ciencias Naturales interactiva.

### 5/5 — One of the highest quality science apps

*2020-02-29, version 1.0.3*

Our school had this on our Macs, so I decided I wanted to purchase the iPad version just so I could use it on my own. I hope this app always remains available; it’s too invaluable a tool for illustrating geomorphology to lose.

### 5/5 — Awesome game!

*2019-05-18, version 1.0.3*

This is one of the best games I’ve played! I will like if the game had more feature but is still a good game

### 5/5 — I work in a museum

*2018-12-28, version 1.0.3*

I work in a museum and I got an old iPad just so I could share this app with children. It's fantastic. I really appreciate that it only requires iOS7, that really opens up the door for educators to make it accessible to low income communities. Thank you for the work and creativity that went into this app.

### 5/5 — THE BEST GAME

*2018-07-14, version 1.0.3*

The best game ever but I think it would be awesome if you make the right climate and animals and people start to make city’s and get more and more advanced. So gust a suggestion.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2018-01-06, version 1.0.3*

I spend a lot of time searching for and playing with math / science apps. It's part of my job. This one jest blew my mind in terms of the app itself and in terms of the possibilities it suggests for further related educational media. Perfect integration of instruction and play.

This one has it all right. Clear instruction, deep dynamic simulation, excellent emergence of geological land forms and related ecosystems... it really is excellent!

Suggestions:

It would be nice to be able to adjust the rate at which time passes,. Maybe even pause time as needed.

I'd also love slightly larger surface in sandbox mode. I would love to be able to run a larger landscape at a lower frame rate/ slower time rate.

### 5/5 — Worth Every Penny

*2017-11-22, version 1.0.3*

This app helped out greatly with my seventh grade science class. It helps students visualize and visually interact with ideas that static images can’t quite achieve. The graphics and interaction are truly fantastic in this app represent some of the best the App Store has to offer. Great work!
