Terrible service. Extremely expensive ### 1/5 — Worst Internet Ever *2025-02-13, version 1.1.12* Was sold an unlimited internet package, three weeks into my first month I was told if I did not use less data my account would be canceled. Avoid this company unless you want to know what dial up internet was like in 1996 ### 1/5 — Scam *2025-01-23* They charge you for shipping and handling which is around $80 and it’s nonrefundable. You basically buy a wifi box from them then once it reaches your home they try and charge an additional $65 talking about that’s the first months bill which is also the activation fee. I’ve never heard of a wifi company charge a first month’s bill before using the wifi. In order to charge me for the first month’s bill I will have to use the WiFi service first. As someone who relies on a high-speed internet connection for my livelihood, I expected a straightforward service. Instead, my experience has been a nightmare. On October 1, 2024, I reached out to Earthlink to upgrade my internet. An agent convinced me to sign up for the “Unlimited 300GB” plan, falsely assuring me it would outperform my cable internet. I was misled into believing that the upfront payment of $79.95 was all I would need to pay. After receiving the router, I was slapped with a bill for $96.16—an amount never disclosed during the sales pitch. The $79.95 was merely a processing fee! Things worsened On October 4 when I activated the service only to find it non-functional. After 45 minutes on hold, the support team failed to deliver. I was told connecting to the "strongest tower" would solve my issues, but the result was laughable. A speed test showed abysmal download speeds of 1.6 Mbps and upload speeds of 62 kbps. It was clear I was at the mercy of a weak T-Mobile tower signal. On October 5, I wasted 4 hours trying to reach customer support, only to be disconnected multiple times. When I finally spoke with an agent, they hung up on me three times! After eight hours of frustration, I finally spoke to a supervisor named Namcebo, who agreed to refund the $96.16 and promised to call back within 30-45 minutes regarding the potential full refund of the $79.95, the supposed non-refundable fee, of which I was never informed either verbally or in writing through a consent form or receipt. However, she never called back. Instead, I received an email regarding my account cancellation and instructions for returning the router to avoid a $400 penalty, with no mention of my refunds whatsoever. Earthlink LLC's lack of transparency and incompetence have cost me valuable time and money. Stay away at all cost! ### 1/5 — Terrible!! *2024-09-21, version 1.1.10* The worst internet ever!! I was promised “unlimited data”, on day 3 received an email we were “out of data” upgraded to the consumer max plan we capped the 250 GB of high speed data and after that you are only allotted 175 gb of additional data but it slows down to unusable speeds. The app won’t let you purchase additional high speed data and is absolutely the worst set up I’ve ever encountered - you can’t access the settings for the WiFi to restrict when devices are allowed to connect to slow down the use of your high speed data. Easy breezy setup. I first plugged it in and it didn’t work after 5 minutes so I unplugged it and replugged it in and now I have full service no problem. I was a little worried with the history of reviews, but so far so good and even better being out in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. I got the fully wireless 300 MB Internet plan. It would be beneficial to be able check the device status via the app to know when my smart home is not connected. There aren’t many features so not a lot to go wrong otherwise.
