This app is brought to you by SMS Tsunami Warning, the award-winning earthquake monitoring app since 2011. 



The app turns your phone into an alert system for earthquakes and tsunamis. It monitors seismic activity worldwide 24/7 and it delivers an alert to your iOS device if conditions are met (magnitude, user’s distance from quake, etc.). Alerts are delivered as push notifications with a loud siren sound.

The user interface is simple and easy to use. For a better reading, the map only shows "significant" earthquakes (with magnitude equal to or bigger than 4.5 on the Richter scale) detected globally in the last 24 hours. In the Settings screen, you can set your parameters for receiving the alerts (ie. user’s distance from the quake’s epicenter and magnitude). After the parameters are set, you can enable (or disable) the alarm system in one touch for total peace of mind. The app supports both metric and imperial measurement systems (Kilometers / Miles) to assess distances.


Each quake is represented by a marker on the map. Tap on the marker to open the details panel and dig more into the quake's data (depth, population estimates, etc.). The app is directly connected to our web platform, where you can learn more about a specific seismic event or, in general, get access to a vast literature concerning earthquakes and tsunamis (fault lines, features, history, etc.). 


The app is a great educational tool and it offers a vital alert service, especially to those living by the coastline or in seismic regions.


The app is free and it contains NO ads. Push alerts are offered as in-app purchase for tiny $2.99 yearly fee (it may change slightly based on your country).

Good intentions but lacks consistency in connectivity. Always ensure you’re “ Protected” in the app. I’ve been disconnected several times without warning. Now, as of this review, the app indicates that I’m “Protected “ yet I get no notifications or indication of recent quakes based on my app settings. 4 year customer, I’ll be canceling. Support was initially good and recently it’s been crickets.

I just got my app disconnected and when I try to reconnect they’re asking to subscribe again but my subscription still shows available until 01/27. And stop sending alert for months ago.

Ive had this app for over a year now and pay the subscription. I was in an actual earthquake and received no notification or alert from this service. I reached out to support with no explanation. I wouldn’t count on this app to do anything for you other than show where quakes are on the map.

Successfully subscribed to a free trial and would have paid the 2.99 for 12 months but the alerts come around half an hour after the event. We only have 12 minutes if a Tsunami is coming from Santorini to Crete so would be already swamped by the time this app warns us; therefore cancelling. 
However two stars awarded for successfully alerting us to several quakes half an hour after they happened.

Living near the Mullaperiyar Dam in Kerala, one of the most dangerous dams in the world, has made reliable alerts crucial for me. Situated in a seismic zone, the potential risks are significant. I’ve subscribed to both the iOS app and voice/SMS alerts for extra precaution. The Quake alert app has proven effective, delivering timely notifications and proving reassurance. Being two hours away from the dam, I find the app’s performance dependable, making it a valuable tool for anyone in similar high-risk areas.

Quake Alert is a fantastic app for staying on top of earthquake and tsunamis. The interface is straightforward and free of ads, making it easy to use. If you live in an area prone to seismic activity, this app is definitely worth checking out.

This app might give the people in Hawaii, other Pacific islands, and the pacific rim a heads up before the Pacific Tsunami center declares a Tsunami emergency.  It’s not the most graphically beautiful app, but it gives you the all needed information and alerts within a few minutes of a seismic event. An update with better graphics is needed, but for less than the price of a cup of coffee for a year service… a bargain.
