Awful to read on a phone screen, terrible to print out and even worse to reformat into something useful. **Developer response:** Thank you for your honest feedback, and I’m really glad to hear you’ve found our courses helpful for learning, and that you've purchased a number of them 🙂. You’re absolutely right that some of our older booklet layouts were originally designed for printed CD inserts rather than phone screens, and we recognise that they don’t always translate perfectly to modern devices or home printing. It’s clear each ‘“song” was written by a teacher instead of an actual musician, the “singers’” lack of vocal prowess also makes it hard to listen to. If they just wrote actual catchy songs worth listening to that tell a proper story using simple words, it would definitely be effective. **Developer response:** Thanks for your review and feedback, we really appreciate it. The tracks are carefully designed for memory and repetition, created by language experts working with composers to support long-term retention. While we include different music genres for more widespread appeal, the tracks aren't meant to sound like chart hits, or be sung. They are meant to get your toe tapping, and get you thinking in language patterns / rhythm, without you realising it. For most people, it takes 7–12 listens for the material to really stick, and that’s where the method and the music shines. We know it’s not for everyone, but we’re always grateful for feedback that helps us improve while staying focused on what makes our language learning method effective. Love it ! ### 5/5 — I love this approach to learning a language *2025-04-16* This is one of the most unique and effective approaches to learning a foreign language I have yet to encounter. The mix of musical backgrounds and rhythms that accompany the words and phrases being presented actually reinforces and ingrains them into your brain. I am studying European Portuguese on multiple apps and online platforms, including Duolingo (which does not teach European Portuguese) and by far this is the best. Unlike one other music-enhanced audiobook that just rattled off a bunch of action words, Andrew and Filomena walk you through practical phrases, helping you to piece the words together until you have a sentence. They have great voices, and it's cute how they sound like they're enjoying the gelato part. These are phrases I'll definitely use (except for the non parlo Italiano, as I WILL know some Italian!). One particularly neat aspects is that I'll wake up some mornings with a phrase in my head that's imprinted without me even having to work at it. I highly recommend this program for fun, easy learning! I’m just starting volume 2. Also, the customer service was amazing. Maria gave me Quick answers and was so personable . Lack of Duolingo silly voices is very good - I’m using this with Duo. Like the way they concentrate on the pronunciation- tho he does sound as though he’s trying to chat her up, which is bit off putting. Good phrase book too with hints and tips and volume one has phonetic version under the words to help with pronunciation. Something Duo could learn from. No silly games/‘friends’/or competitive leagues- not needed by anyone aged over 14 tbh - and no annoying animated characters. It’s all fairly effortless- so have to see how good it is! We tend to find users become inspired by their own rapid and effortless progress, develop a thirst to learn more, and use even more resources. The 'live text' where you see the words as they're spoken was an addition a few years ago and through customer feedback such as your own. It is particularly helpful initially and more helpful for visual learners. You don't thereafter need to look at the screen which also allows you to 'play in the background' so you can multi task and do other things while you listen. Everyone is so busy these days, by making the most of the time you have while say travelling or working out means there's no excuse not to try. Thank you also for your appreciation of the free accompanying transcript and for the effort we put in to help you gain the correct pronunciation. All our native speakers are actually auditioned for their beautiful voices, it helps to avoid monotony, aids pronunciation and we have them repeat things in different tones to aid intonation. But I would like to find out if it’s more effective to repeat after each phrase, or if it’s more effective to just listen carefully. I know that both options are available. I’m just curious which is typically more effective according to the research, but when I try to contact them from the website from the FAQ page, it errors out. So it would be nice to have a direct email address to reach with questions like these. Also, besides the karaoke style lyrics, how do I access the pdf? (Earworms German ) *2023-03-28, version 1.0.88* I am loving this App for lots of reasons ! The melodic music literally is “ music to the ears “. It’s soothing and calming and toe tapping all at the same time . I love the tone of the two speakers and I love the gentle repetition and the easy explanation of the translation . It’s lovely to hear words used in another context ( different from another App I use and a class I attend ) which also helps consolidate their use and meaning . Now I got a triple set of French tracks on iPhone app and some have been downloaded corrupted. I needed to delete and to reload the tracks. Now YOUR APP IS ASKING FOR $30 AGAIN. Please advise. ### 1/5 — Do I really have to pay a second time? *2018-11-24* I bought earworms Polish and very much enjoyed listening to it the car on the commute to work, but that was on the old OS. Now you have launched it on new iPhone OS, and you want me to pay again even though you have just copy pasted the old tracks over with no new material? When there is another new OS you will want me to pay a third time for the same material? I’ve spent $10 on the Spanish edition in the past and that app no longer works nor is it even found in the App Store. First time I’ve ever paid for an app and BLOOP! App AND my money is gone. That’s the issue with buying digital stuff, you never truly get to own it. ### 1/5 — No play on function *2018-08-06, version 1.0.43* EarWorms is fantastic, but this app does not allow you to play on from one song to the next, nor does it allow you to have one song on repeat. This makes the app completely useless, because you can’t listen to it when driving or busying yourself with something else. You have to continuously press ‘next’. So dumb! ### 1/5 — Really upset *2018-07-14* I first found the audio book version of this and bought it. Really liked it. Found the app here and bought it. It’s essentially the same thing but by buying the app I’m getting the actual text that goes along with the spoken words to help me learn. Except that I’m not. Russian, seems to be a second class language with these guys. The text they show is often converted to English text not Cyrillic text which is okay for sounding it out if your not familiar with the Cyrillic alphabet but useless in the long run because Russian uses the Cyrillic alphabet. If you don’t provide the full Cyrillic text then I have to play with Google translate a whole heck of a lot to get it translated just right. It’s a monumental effort. They have a download phrase book button but it doesn’t download a phase book at all. Instead you subscribe to the mail blast. There is no book for me to download with the text. I’m sure their intentions are good but this fails on so many levels. Just provide the text in Cyrillic. Why is this so difficult? Why can’t you do this? I’d appreciate a refund if you can’t. It is the only reason I bought this app. I can already buy and already have bought the audio which is available as an audio book. I’m buying the app to see the full text in the native Cyrillic. So frustrating. I can’t stand app that half-### things. It’s wastes my time. Get it right or don’t bother doing it at all. Who checks these apps to see if they deliver at Apple, no one? Get this off the store. ### 1/5 — Why can’t I restore my purchases? *2018-03-05, version 1.0.28* Please provide support on how to restore purchases as I have previously bought French italian and polish but now I cannot access them ### 2/5 — Step back *2019-09-03* Had an older version of Earworms which is sadly no longer supported for OS 11. So deleted and get the new version. It has same audio (Spanish) but is far less intuitive. I can no longer select the Category I’m interested in (travel,cafe) but have to listen to the whole audio instead, a step backwards I’m afraid. **Developer response:** Hi Cloughie, thank you for finding to the time to write, we appreciate all feedback. Perhaps you've reviewed before getting used to new layout. If you're listening to track 2 'ordering food & drinks' for example you simply click the back button (<) to return to the list of tracks. If you next want to listen to track 7 'Directions' you simply click that track in the list. There is no need to listen to tracks 3,4,5 or 6 first, that would annoying I agree! Apart from the different layout, the target language now appears own screen as it's spoken, an improvement for those that really want to be able to read and write too. The static text on the old app can also be downloaded as a pdf booklet if you click the hamburger Menu sign>Course Phrasebooks. The other improvement is we have in-app purchasing now, almost all of our titles are available on app whereas it only used to be vol. 1's with the exception of Spanish 2. I hope all the above helps you! On a different note, I'm unsure whether you've re purchased the same course or whether you received a code to restore your original purchase? It would be extremely helpful for a trip to a foreign country. The only down side is that it only has 3 volumes for the language i am learning. Maybe there is more depth in some other languages. Bravo! ### 5/5 — Great way to start Polish *2025-10-21* I have tried many times to learn basic Polish with various traditional and online methods but i have found the process is hard. With Ear worms I have found it much easier and my pronunciation and confidence is better. The team have done a great job in making learning conversational Polish fun and enjoyable and the method is simple and easy to use even with 15 minutes a day. I can now communicate in basic Polish with my Girlfriend and her family and this is transforming my visits to Poland. I like the fact Ear worms covers topics you will actually use and common words that you can integrate into other sentences. The music and presenters are also calm and relaxed making it a fun and enjoyable experience that doesn’t feel like hard work. I thoroughly recommend Ear worms if you have found learning Polish difficult. My two personal favourite techniques are spaced repetition and music mnemonics, and for the latter, Earworms has been my go-to tool for many years now. I’ve used it to help learn German, Italian and recently Arabic, and I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing Hindi and Finnish being added to their list of languages offered. My two favourite qualities of Earworms are that it helps me remember words and pronunciations super fast and that’s it’s genuinely fun! It puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it!
