## What is EASA FTL Calc?

EASA FTL Calc helps flight and cabin crew calculate and monitor:

• Cockpit and cabin crew limits
• Actual and maximum Flight Duty Periods (FDP)
• Latest on-block times
• Duty Periods (DP)
• Actual and minimum rest periods
• Acclimatisation status
• Commander’s discretion
• Planned reduced rest
• Disruptive schedules
• Required local nights at home base
• Extended recovery rest periods
• Cumulative duty times for 7, 14 and 28 days
• Monthly duty times

The app takes into account:

• Standby, airport standby and airport duty
• Extended cabin crew FDP due to earlier reporting times
• Delayed reporting
• In-flight rest for cockpit and cabin crew based on the applicable rules
• Split duty
• FDP extensions
• Planned reduced rest
• Positioning
• Time-zone differences
• Company-specific minimum rest periods
• Your assigned home base
• Back-to-back operations

You do not need to calculate or enter time zones manually:

• Simply select an airport from the database
• The time zone is determined automatically based on the airport and date

For each rotation, you only need to select:

• The airport where the rotation begins
• The rest location after each duty day
• The next reporting airport is automatically set to the previous rest location

EASA FTL Calc is designed as a duty logbook, not as a flight logbook:

• You do not need to enter every individual block time
• The app does not manage cumulative block-hour limits
• Imported flights may still be displayed for reference

Separate cockpit and cabin calculations:

• Reporting times may differ
• In-flight rest rules are different
• Your own limits are calculated using all available information
• Calculations for other crew members may be limited because less information about their previous and subsequent rotations is available

Rotation management:

Rotations are stored automatically and displayed in a dedicated overview. The overview includes:

• Flight Duty Periods
• Duty periods
• Rest periods
• Separate calculations for cockpit and cabin crew

XML import:

• BA rosters only

RosterBuster import:

• Direct import from the server

Direct import from other apps and websites:

• NASImport
• CrewLounge CONNECT
• RosterworX
• MyRoster for Crew by Lumabyte — sadly no longer available

eCrew AIMS Dashboard import:

If your roster can be downloaded as a .txt or .csv file, it can be opened directly in EASA FTL Calc.
Because AIMS can be configured differently by each airline, occasional compatibility issues may occur. In many cases, these can be resolved.

Calendar import:

Roster data can also be imported from your calendar.
Because calendar entries can use different formats and naming conventions, occasional compatibility issues may occur. In many cases, these issues can be resolved.

## Key features

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-06-04, version 2.6.7*

Makes your life easier during daily ops, very helpful app, with all the FTL combinations (SBY, ASBY, in flight rest) and gives explanations and references to ORO.FTL

### 5/5 — useful app for pilots

*2024-12-25, version 2.6.5*

it is a nice tool to quickly see the times instead of searching on the documents. Updated regularly.

### 5/5 — The go to app for FTL

*2023-03-28*

Fantastic app that is regularly updated.

Imports from eMaestro which makes it really simple to use.

### 1/5 — More CPU USAGE !

*2023-01-31, version 2.4.7*

Only then when I start to use FTL back side of phone gettimg warmer and become to hot. Switch on/ off helps me to reduce tempture. You need to check. I updated to 16.3 still probleme resume. iphone 13 pro max.

### 3/5 — Gute APP A B E R

*2022-04-28*

Läuft unter der aktuellen iOS Version 15.3.1 nicht auf meinem iPad
Nach löschen und neuer Installation ok aber alle alten Daten sind weg
Schade da ansonsten super APP

### 1/5 — Does not upload roster

*2022-02-03*

It used to work but now it became frustrating. When I try to import my roster from roster buster I return with error message. Rosterbuster team can’t sort out the issue either. Shame

**Developer response:** Sorry for any inconvenience. For support please contact info@irk23.de. Until now almost every problem could be solved, but it has to be known.
The reason was only a changed log in procedure at RosterBuster.

### 3/5 — Can’t Upload My Rooster

*2021-02-03, version 2.3.5*

The app seems nice but I can not upload my rooster of Turkish Airlines. I need to use another app - give some money for that app (roster buster) - than import my schedule to the app. This is not a user friendly situation. There is a huge customer/user potential with Turkish Airlines if the programmer manages to solve this handicap.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2020-01-24, version 2.2.0*

Really well done Ralf. Perfection will be when the app manages to download from the calendar also the stand by and simulators.

### 4/5 — Worth the price

*2019-06-08*

Ok so... we all know our airline employers will push our FDP to the max when it comes to cutting costs and generating revenue... so it pays to be aware of when to say “No, it’s not safe for me to operate, stand me down”. This app does all those pesky little calculations for you so you have the right information to hand.

It’s not the easiest layout to wrap your head around if you don’t know what you’re looking for, and let’s face it, no airline gives really thorough training on what FTL actually means for their Cabin Crew. But the import function really helps with that...

The best thing about this app is that you can pair it with RosterBuster and everything is imported and done for you. Your planned and actual hours are there in black and white and become highlighted for easy viewing if you go into discretionary/out of hours.

Definitely recommend, particularly for SCCMs who will have the teams welfare to consider as well as their own. 👍🏼

### 5/5 — Deserves 5 stars

*2019-05-30, version 1.8.8*

App is one of the best and useful app that I have ever used related to Aviation. Many thanks to the developer !

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.1.5 — 2026-08-31

This update includes preparations for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 and fixes two issues when the “Cabin Crew” setting is selected:
• Fixed an issue that prevented switching between Cabin and Flights in the right panel.
• Fixed an issue where, after changing the Crew Member setting, the Cabin report time could be used as the Cockpit report time – or vice versa.
Thank you for using EASA FTL Calc!

### 3.1.4 — 2026-08-14

BA Shorthaul Night Duty:
Updated for the interim rule changes:
• Uses BA Local Time instead of the pilot’s acclimatised time zone.
• Added the 9-hour Flying Duty Period limit check.
• The end of the preceding duty is displayed, with an indication of the limit for the planned duty finish.
• Updated information and FDP details.

iPad:
• Updated window management for iPadOS 26 and later.
• Improved layout and scaling for different iPad and window sizes.

General:
• Initial compatibility updates for iOS 27.
• New Airport Database.
• Minor design and presentation improvements.

### 3.1.3 — 2026-07-10

This update fixes two minor issues:
• “Back-to-Back Operation” is no longer unintentionally activated when adding a new duty day. This only affected the last day of a rotation with the home base as resting airport.
• The 3 required local nights for east-to-west / west-to-east transitions have been adjusted in line with the EASA FAQ. Both rotations must each have a time-zone difference of at least 4 hours. In addition, the time-zone direction is now handled correctly again.

### 3.1.2 — 2026-06-23

This update focuses on code modernization, planned reduced rest, additional FDP and rest information, improved warnings, updated airport data, and better overall stability.

Planned Reduced Rest
Planned reduced rest and reduced rest by Commander’s Discretion have been restructured to reflect EASA regulations more precisely.
Warnings, information messages, and displays have been improved for:
  • Planned reduced rest
  • Reduced rest by Commander’s Discretion
  • Minimum rest
  • Company minimum rest

Additional FDP and Rest Details
The Flight Duty Period and Next Earliest Reporting information in the duty-day details on the right now include a third row.
You can now see the relevant times together at a glance:
 • Actual times
 • Minimum or maximum times
 • Commander's Discretion

Airport Database
The airport database has been updated.

Code Modernization
The calculation logic, the import process and the right duty day table have been completely rewritten using modern frameworks.
This improves robustness, reliability, stability, and future maintainability through better data and error handling.

Fixed issues include:
  • A crash that could occur when importing an airport that was not available in the database and had no time zone information.
  • A time zone display issue for a second home base located in a different country than the main home base.
  • A display bug that could show “Previous Data Incomplete” or “Last Rotation” for non-flight duties in the duty day list of a rotation.

Standby and 18 Hours Awake Time
Related information has been updated and clarified.

BA Night Duty
  • Added an additional information row in the rotation list for “BA Shorthaul - Check Night Duty”.
  • Changed the color from the orange warning color to a lilac/blue check color.

### 3.1.1 — 2026-03-30

• Fixed layout-related crashes in the Manual Cumulative Duty Period Calculator on small displays
