It would also count up and down and be able to be programmed similar to this with verbal timings up and down in concession. This app is sooo useful when it works. I've been using it for a few years now. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect... *2014-08-10* Finally, a developer that doesn't make you use the tiresome scroll-to-select time. Entering times and giving default names should be quick and this app provides that. Please don't change it. This app is easy to use, quick to setup (I tried 4 others, all took me longer to get started), and does what it advertises. Few things would make it perfect: 1) why doesn't it allow access to the iTunes playlist for alarm sounds? 2) background choices and color schemes are hideously 2008 iPhone. I do project work as an Engineer and this app allows me to create a timer for each project. When I switch to a new project, I just stop one timer and start the other. My boss is really impressed that I can tell him how many hours (down to the tenth of an hour) that I spend on each project. Most of my peers just estimate, give or take a few hours. Even if the iPhone goes to sleep or I switch to another app (like my music), the app's timers are still going. When you open the app, you get an up-to-date time. So the up down timer is perfect for what I use. If your a chef buy this app. Worth every penny!!!!!!!!!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Needs Update ASAP *2016-12-06* This is a superb piece of software that is in danger of dying from neglect by the developer. Do NOT purchase this app until the developer provides an update. It hasn't been updated in years and is now so out-of-date with the current iOS that my iPhone is displaying a warning that the outdated software may slow down my phone's operation. If the developer doesn't update the app soon, I'll be removing it from my phone, which would be a pity. **Developer response:** The current version of this app (V4.0.1) is now 64bit and supports the latest version of iOS (iOS11) and takes advantage of all iPhone screen sizes including the iPhone X. ### 1/5 — Not working *2016-10-19* This was my favorite timer a year ago. Then for various reasons I did not need a timer. Today I began a new phase of timer uses. To my dismay this one no longer works. It counts down just fine but no sound whatsoever can be heard at the end of the cycle. I have tried turning it off & on, re-reading instructions, checking my volume control, deleting & reloading the app. Nothing works. Help! This really would be my favorite timer again if it would just work like it used to. ### 1/5 — App Problems *2015-09-24* I love this app in that it helps me in timing all kinds of stuff, from medicinals, cooking, workout, to some business applications. I could have easily given this 4 stars but I've noticed these 3 problems lately: 1. Timed alarms sometimes sound off and sometimes don't. 2. The app occasionally flashes a message saying there are not enough resources or something. 3. Noticeably there has been no update fire quite a while. The new IOS 9 is probably making the problems cited above occur more frequently. ### 1/5 — Breaks in iOS 5 *2011-11-24, version 2.2* Used to work great (though super ugly, if you care about such things). But under iOS 5 alarms no longer happen when the app isn't in the foreground. ### 1/5 — Needs improvement *2010-06-12, version 0* I like the fact that you can have so many timers, and the fact that you can label them with pictures, but once the time is up, the labels and pictures are gone, so you can't save a timer for something you do over and over. Also, the biggest issue is that the timer doesn't go off if the app is not running which is pretty useless if you want to countdown a lot of time. And while this isn't a dealbreaker, the native iPhone timer goes off whether the is on or off. All in all I feel like I wasted $3, but I'll keep an eye out for updates. ### 1/5 — Save your money *2009-03-19, version 0* This timer is all sizzle and no steak. The ONLY reason to buy a timer is to let it do your remembering for you, which this one fails to do. If you're in any other app, or none, or the OS is asleep, so is the app. If you remember to open and check it, the alarm will go off immediately, as though guilty that it forgot you. So, if you want an app that requires you to remind it to remind you, Easy Up/Down is for you. But... *2010-10-26, version 0* This is a great timer - I use it every day and love it. So why two stars? It needs to be able to sound the alarm without having the iPod on. Doesn't help me if the alarm is never heard because the screen is off. While I use a few timers to cook my food I also use it timing my laundry with a distinctive sound to alert me. I like the variety of uses to make my busy life a bit easier.
