### 2/5 — Lacks features, buggy, too social

*2023-08-31*

Had lots of issues setting up profile as photo upload wasn’t working. Same with adding bike. Had to add it multiple times before it showed up. Seems like everything on the app is a post. When you add a bike it is a post. When you drive a route, it’s a post. Ya, that’s not for me. As for lack of features, there are no turn by turn directions. You can’t plan a route. When you do record a ride the lean data is garbage. So wanted this app to be awesome, but it is just so-so.

### 3/5 — False positive. But hey it worked

*2021-12-26, version 4.3.1*

So riding today, the app false detected a crash. I did not have the app actively open, but it was running in the background. I made a phone call via my Bluetooth headset to my gf who is one of the emergency contacts. Shortly after calling her, my parents were frantically calling me worried about me. For some reason, when I made the phone call the app thought I crashed? And since I didn’t have the app pulled up while running, I was not aware of the alarm. Is there a fix for this?!? Other than leaving the app open on the Home Screen all the time? I had it minimized and my phone locked to conserve battery life.

### 4/5 — ESR does not work on iPad :-(

*2021-10-27, version 4.3.1*

I just wanted to read a few of the articles but I can't......
the ESR App does not allow use on an iPad as it requires motion sensing for no reason as if it was an iPhone in your pocket while you were riding your bike. this leaves out an entire segment of ESR users. cell phone or PC only for those who want to relax after a nice ride and read the articles. come on guys fix this. I get why you did this, so you wouldn't get complaints that crash light wasn't working properly after install, but you screwed the pooch on anything that doesn't have the same internals as the cell phone.

**Developer response:** Hey thanks for your feedback and support, we're on it! We're always available at feedback@eatsleepride.com. Thanks for being part of ESR and for checking out the articles. You can also read them free using a web browser at https://eatsleepride.com

### 1/5 — False crash detected, no navigation

*2021-10-16, version 4.3.1*

I mostly got this to detect crashes. Today I was riding along when suddenly a voice came over my Cardo saying “911 what’s you’re emergency?” I had to pull over and spend a good 5 minutes explaining to the cops that there was no emergency and this app just called them automatically for no reason. I’ve only been using this app for a week, and already got a false crash detection (as other reviews complained about). So I immediately deleted the app.

Even with the horrible crash detection aside, I also don’t really think this app provides much value. It can’t even give you turn by turn directions, let alone map out the twistiest route or avoid highways or whatever, like other apps can. And this is supposed to be a bigger more popular app, no idea why they can’t even figure out navigation. The rest of it is this janky social media sort of thing that’s somehow less appealing than mainstream social media.

I really don’t know why anyone would keep this app. All it does is call the cops on you for no reason… so I guess there really is an app for everything these days.

### 1/5 — Waiting…

*2021-07-10*

Sent you guys a message two weeks ago about a malfunction I experienced followed by a request for acknowledgement a week ago. Received nothing but a systems notification that it will take a day or two in order to receive a response….
If you are indeed listening, as you so loudly announce with your update, it would be sweet if occasionally you would also reply, acknowledge or show any sign that you care. If you treat your paying customers like that (I am one of those) I wonder what you do with non paying ones…

### 3/5 — Great idea, so-so execution

*2021-05-20, version 4.1.0*

I love this app, but lately I’ve been getting a LOT of false positives. I have it mounted on my handlebars, and the rash of false positives have gotten troubling. Especially since unless I have my phone unlocked with the app open in the foreground, I don’t get alerted that it has detected a crash! While I’m just riding on, it has sent messages to my wife and other emergency contacts, who are freaking out. I’m not sure what happened, but it needs to get fixed, pronto! Otherwise, I’m going to have to cancel the Crashlight subscription and find something else to do the job.

### 2/5 — Lost focus

*2021-05-05*

This app has slowly morphed into a social network to Instabrag on. Functions for riding have been pushed literally to the side and make it almost impossible to use with gloves on. All the controls are tiny to the point of being useless, even if you pull over, de-glove and squint. All to make room for social functions for hipsters drinking coffee instead of riders on the road.

Put that junk, and the message box under one icon for off-bike use, please.

Also, fair warning, if you turn on notifications it will start spamming you with sponsored promotions. There is no opt out in the app, so if you have Bluetooth in your helmet it may interfere with the zen of your ride.

The Ad/spam notifications come even when the app isn’t running too. But thank Royal Enfield for their generous contribution to ESRs wallet for national bike month.

Notifications were supposed to be for SO to find out I crashed again, not marketing.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect. Just needs minor updates

*2020-06-18, version 3.16.4*

This app has great potential - there are only a couple of things holding it back from a solid 5-star rating. I’ve been running this app along with three others (DucatiLink, Yamaha MyRide, and DiabloSuperBike) on my rides for last few months.

Pros:

- In my opinion, this is the most intuitive and refined app of the four I’ve tried so far.

- Ability to scroll through the ride - sort of a replay feature - is very nice

- The social aspects and articles are great

Neutral:

- The sign up doesn’t bother me nowadays since most apps require you to do that now

Cons:

- My biggest gripe is regarding the ride statistics. This App records random lean angles which are usually over 20-25deg higher in both directions (left and right) than reported by all other apps, rendering that feature useless. When all other apps report lean angles in 30s to 50s, ESR reports lean angles in 50s and 60s. Speed and distance are better but other apps seem to be closer. Also, other apps provide acceleration data along the three axes which is missing from this app.

- On a couple of occasions, ESR did not record the ride after a “pause”. Other apps have also done more than a couple of times

- The app won’t let you add a bike without making a public post

### 1/5 — The worst app

*2020-05-15*

I used this app last year, and..

1) gps tracking was daily problematic. Notified ERS about it and I haven’t gotten a straight one person response but instead he distributed to several other people to respond. It was a mess.

2) whoever is charge is a lazy slug. The game supposed have started on 16may2020 according to ESR game section as advertised but it didn’t. So I emailed esr and the response was joke. I asked him for an answer but he asks me a question instead. He asked me which game? The ESR only has one game. But he asks me if I’m asking about another game or esr.

### 5/5 — Great and Reliable

*2020-05-07*

I love this app. I’ve used ESR for a couple of years now and tracked hundreds of rides and never had even one glitch. That reliability is really appreciated. That’s the single most important feature.

For comparison, I also use REVER which has a few more bells and whistles. However, that one crashes on me constantly and doesn’t end up tracking my ride and I have a new iPhone with the latest iOS. That’s very frustrating.
