### 1/5 — Cannot pair

*2021-03-15, version 1.3.8*

Cannot pair with app. Crazy! Tried multiple devices and logging off and nothing works

### 1/5 — Literally impossible to login!!!!

*2021-03-13, version 1.3.8*

I’ve got a new eBike. Got the app. Couldn’t create an account with the app. Went to the website. Created an account. Verified email. Still can’t loving to the app.
“Failed to map json” error pops up at the bottom.
Hopefully you’ve fired all the developers that wrote this piece of junk.
Still doesn’t change that I can’t pair with my ebike.

**Developer response:** Dear Kelsorj,
Apologies for the troubles, we've suffered from an unexpected issue last week affecting our servers, from today, the normal functionality is back again,
Thanks for your understanding,

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2021-03-13, version 1.3.8*

Hi, I downloaded the Ebikemotion app for my new Orbea Gain but I can’t login.
I keep getting the message “fail to map data to JSON”. What should I do?

### 2/5 — Need an option for assist

*2021-01-22, version 1.3.8*

Will anyone finally create an option in the app or allow the bikes to be paired with Garmin computers. It's frustrating!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-12-22, version 1.3.8*

No email sent to verify account and cannot log into set up account.

### 1/5 — Error brand ESN not correct

*2020-11-01, version 1.3.8*

Please fix error, not connecting to bike with error brand esn not correct

### 2/5 — No longer works

*2020-08-23, version 1.3.7*

Used to work just fine and I really liked it but now won’t pair with my bike and will not show any of my activities. Checked to make sure I had the latest version and tried rebooting but still nothing.

### 1/5 — Buggy money-grab

*2020-06-17, version 1.3.6*

Crowded UI, poor app navigation, and they want you to rent maps that any GPS app gives you for free.

### 3/5 — Rpm at 250

*2020-05-12, version 1.3.6*

Bought a Cannondale equipped with the Ebikemotion rear hub. All works great except my rpm indicator goes fro zero to 150 right from my first pedal stroke.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t let you register. Useless

*2020-05-09, version 1.3.6*

I don’t know why, but it fails on user registration... and it’s so incredibly frustrating. Basically, this app is useless.

### 1/5 — Maps will not load

*2019-08-12, version 1.3.1*

I would like to give this a higher rating but after purchasing my Orbea Gain M20i from Contender bicycles on July 17, 2019 my maps page only has a screen saver photo. I have no access to downloading any maps or even the availability to purchase the maps. With the purchase of the bike I was supposed to receive 3 months of three maps free. I have removed the app from my phone and did a fresh install twice already and nothing has changed.

I appreciate the response from the developer but I still cannot download the three free maps that was supposed to come with the Orbea Gain M20i. As soon as that is resolved I will be glad to change my rating once I have a chance to actually use it with my maps installed.

**Developer response:** Dear drose49,

Sorry for the inconvenience, it took us a while to fix an issue with our map supplier, new update solves the situation. Please, try again and enjoy these free maps access and your Orbea Gain M20i,

We're happy to hear from you about the experience with our App,

Thanks and have a nice weekend!

### 1/5 — Where is my map - will not save my profile

*2019-06-30, version 1.2.9*

Bought an Orbea Optima E 50. Very nice bike. Terrible app however. Can not download an European map. Will not save my profile data. No contact or support email address. Bluetooth slow to connect. Apparently one must login each time app is opened. What a shame.

**Developer response:** Dear MS-Paris, We're very sorry to hear that, our apologies, we'll investigate what went wrong on your map purchase process to improve our App and platform. Please, send us your purchase details to care@ebikemotion.com, your issue will be expedited, Thanks a lot

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2022-06-04, version 1.3.9*

Somehow they managed to screw up their login system to the point where I have tried to create a new account, failed to login, then reset the password to the new account, and again failed to login making it impossible to access the app. What a stupid bunch of morons. Jesus, outsource it to India or whatever you need to do to get something that works … or maybe you just didn’t have to break what semblance of functionality you had before.

### 1/5 — APP has been replaced. DO NOT DOWNLOAD

*2022-05-19, version 1.3.9*

Download the new app MySmartBike and use your existing account

### 1/5 — No longer works at all do not download

*2022-04-09, version 1.3.9*

It simply makes you get another app. It shouldn’t even be on the store.

### 1/5 — Can’t even get past account creation

*2022-04-08, version 1.3.9*

When I try to register it says registration failed with no other details about why the failure happened.

### 1/5 — Really annoying

*2021-09-30, version 1.3.9*

App is confusing and overly complicated by the addition of navigation, but the real nail in the coffin is that the app causes the phone to buzz every time Bluetooth connects or disconnects, which happens A LOT. This can’t be turned off, either in the app or notifications, and it is REALLY ANNOYING. I had to delete the app it’s so irritating.

### 1/5 — Possibly the worst app I have

*2021-08-29, version 1.3.9*

This app is very very bad. It frequently breaks its Bluetooth connection with the bike, resulting in no feedback at critical times. When it is connected, the app displays useless information (Who cares how many rpms the motor is spinning?) and unexplained metrics (what does “POW” mean, anyway?).

The documentation is next to worthless.

The pity of having such a useless app is that it connects (intermittently) to such a great bike.

I have had to stop in the middle of a ride just to re-pair the app and the bike to know how much range I have.

The bike is a joy to ride but the app is a worthless PITA.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2021-08-04, version 1.3.9*

Stops working mid ride. Takes forever to pair with the bike. Inaccurate data retrieval. This is app garbage. The only thing I use it for is checking the battery charge balance. It would be great if there were some other app that would work with this but unless you want to go buy a bike with a different assist mechanism you are stuck with it.

### 1/5 — Bad UI

*2021-06-05, version 1.3.9*

Pretty simple review. The UI is pretty bad and it doesn’t operate seamlessly with the bike or other devices. Also, the app is hardly ever able to find the bike and the connection is intermittent - that could a Bluetooth issue but honestly the interface and experience are just weak in comparison to other apps such as strava.

### 1/5 — Canondale Evo - App Not Working

*2021-04-21, version 1.3.8*

Can’t log in, won’t pair, no support from canondale or Ebikemotion. Useless and very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Great component, useless App

*2021-04-18, version 1.3.8*

Useless as out of the gate could not pair with Bluetooth.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Maps all fixed

*2019-08-02, version 1.3.0*

Great app for road riding. Now able to access Maps to download. Click on tab and Maps functioning fine. Deep and rich app. Love my bike and this tool. I integrate with Strava and use my fitbit for cardiac.

**Developer response:** Dear MIT Doc,

Thanks for this great feedback, we were experiencing some troubles with our map supplier, new update fix this issue,

We'll keep improving the App based on your feedback, if you would like to reconsider your opinion about our App, we're happy to hear you!

Have a nice Friday!

### 4/5 — Good but issue with navigation feature

*2020-06-05, version 1.3.6*

The map appears to show bike routes, which is great but the navigation doesn’t seem to acknowledge them. I would think the navigation would favor bike routes over more dangerous roads or steep hills. For this reason I don’t use the navigation feature.

### 4/5 — Good app overall, but with critical flaw

*2019-12-28, version 1.3.3*

I got recently Pinarello Dyodo bike and installed this companion app. It functions pretty well and display all necessary information, however it is missing critical feature. You can upload gpx route in web version and see it in the app, but problem is that you can only see it, you can’t navigate via it. Many people plan day or few days long routes, then upload them to computers or apps and use as navigation during rides.
Developers, if you are reading this please add this ability !!!

### 4/5 — Very informative and useful app! (Connected to a great bike.)

*2019-06-12, version 1.2.8*

This is a very informative and useful app, displaying a great deal of information about the bike, the rider and the road traveled.
It isn’t always clear how to use it - there are _not_ clear or comprehensive directions.
But it is still very informative and useful. I had another ebike and that app pretty much had “on” and “off” and not a lot else.
This whole ebike thing is new enough that I happily recognize a learning curve, but this app (and its associated bike) have a huge head start on competition I have seen..

### 4/5 — Ebikemotion App is a vital part of the Ebikemotion experience.

*2019-03-17, version 1.2.2*

Attention to detail and long feature list make this app a “must use” for most bikes using Ebikemotion. The only thing keeping me from giving more stars is that I could not get the heart rate monitor on my Apple Watch to work with the app other than intermittently. It did work with another brand of HR monitor. I also wish I could configure the screens, something you can do on competing devices such as from Garmin. Overall, a great app!

### 3/5 — Cadence

*2021-05-06, version 1.3.9*

The app works well, but instead of RPM
a cadence reading from on a bluetooth sensor would be much more helpful

### 3/5 — No heart rate

*2021-02-10, version 1.3.8*

I decided to use it as the main app during cycling with my Orbea Gain M30 . With iPhone 8 and Apple Watch 3 it doesn’t show the heart rate. Ebikemotion was allowed to read Heart Rate. I started the ride from watch. Bluetooth is on but HR pair status is always Disconnected. If I turn on the original Display OC monochrome from Orbea it shows Hr pair status connected but always 0 bpm. Thank you any advice and contact information for additional support.

### 3/5 — Has a glitch

*2020-08-26, version 1.3.8*

Screen froze hard when I tried to save a ride. Only fix I see is to uninstall and reinstall. I’ll lose data but hope it works otherwise.

### 3/5 — Maps are broken.

*2020-08-17, version 1.3.7*

The App is pretty good with one major problem.

Pairs with your bike via BT to give speed, rpm, altitude (gps based), track distance, time, est calories burned. Also shows battery state and motor assist level (0 to 3).
Improvement opportunities:
RPM is actually the rear wheel rpm, not your crank cadence. Needs to be clearly labeled as such.
Should be able to change motor assist level via the app. Direct up and down. Would be better than the iwoc button.
The Bluetooth pairing can sometimes be slow. Seems sensitive to whether the app is open first or bike is turned on first.

Major problem:
Purchased NA map for $4. App said it successfully downloaded. But when trying to use map within the app it states map not found! Tried iPhone reboot, didn’t help.
@ebikemotion developers- you need to fix this or refund the purchase. Not acceptable.

Update!:
Map download issue was my fault. There was a second step in the process were you must download a more localized map. Although, it was highly unintuitive. Nothing led me to this step. I had to spend more time digging through menus to find it. Upgraded from 1 to 3 stars.

### 3/5 — No Workout Support and Strava doesn’t work

*2020-07-06, version 1.3.6*

Overall the app is ok, but there are quite a few things that don’t work. It was nice to see that you could start a ride off your watch, and that it’ll record your heart rate, but it won’t save your ride as an actual workout. Also you can’t setup the app to upload to Strava automatically (even though the description says you can). Ultimately that really doesn’t matter though since if you do sync it from the web portal, it still doesn’t count as a workout. So if you like capturing your workout, you’re better off just recording a cycle workout off your watch.
