Then I have to log out and re log in to my institution first and then login to my personal account to have my saved books. Very frustrating for use with grad school and research ### 2/5 — Finicky *2024-03-05* Love having access to EBSCO library on my iPad; however, the EBSCO mobile app is quite finicky. When trying to read a book online (no download available), the app is repeatedly sending me back to the beginning of the chapter when I’m trying to scroll, I can’t select a sub-chapter from the content list (main chapters only) so I constantly have to scroll all the way through a chapter to find my spot, and I can’t save my progress. Also, I can’t access a downloadable book through the e-books tab, only through the recently viewed section. Lots of room for improvement. ### 3/5 — Downloaded but… *2024-02-04* I downloaded this app because my work place’s library webpage kept directing at this App. First hiccup was not being able to login using my work credentials. SSO is entered, two step verification is completed only to hear unable to login. Then I tried open search, and seems like lot of resources in their database. I couldn’t find a way to do advanced search beyond what material I’m looking for, such as ISBN, DOI, keyword, exact match etc. if it had those, I might have kept the app for other books, even though the one I was looking for was not available. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. With this info we should be able to assist you. ### 3/5 — No citation function *2024-01-19* This is a great app, but there is no citation function as online! I use the app to find and use sources for High School research, and then have to go to the web version for the citation! If you have any other enhancement suggestions, please feel free to contact us via mobileappsupport@ebsco.com. ### 3/5 — Great app but no citation function *2024-01-05* I use EBSCOhost for high-school research, and I recently got the mobile app. It is awesome that it keeps me signed in unlike the online version. It also is very easy to use and less cluttered than the web version. However the huge drawback is that it does not have the automatic citation function. This was one of the great things EBSCOhost had, but the mobile app doesn’t have that function. Now I use the app to find and use articles, but then go to the web version and find the article by title to get the citation lol😂. EBSCO Mobile: PLEASE add the citation function to EBSCO mobile!! ### 2/5 — Can’t read whole page *2023-07-13* At least have a scroll option so I can read every line on the page ### 1/5 — Search engine not specific enough *2023-06-10* I wanted to retrieve a specific article from the May, 2023 issue of “The Atlantic”. Your search engine is not specific enough, so the app could not do this. It was giving me erroneous hits, citing incorrect periodicals. The EBSCO website has no problem doing this. Fix your app! **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you couldn't find the article you were looking for due to the lack of journal-level browse capability. If I try it just refreshes the search on ebsco.zone. If I use another campus it will work, but only in a small window that is barely readable. ### 3/5 — Good, but... *2022-10-03, version 3.0.7* Good application, but I wish there was a way to save PDFs on iphone from the app. ### 2/5 — A Solution to My Browser Problem, Dashed. *2022-06-30* I downloaded this application the hopes that I’d be able to work around a “404 not found” page error on an iPhone Safari browser every-time I try to sign it the website; I don’t really have time to troubleshoot and test it on Chrome, my less preferred browser, because I’m on a deadline. The whole reason I wanted to download the book onto my Files is that the page will lose connectivity after what feels to be about 3 minutes of inactivity. And the only reason I used Ebsco in the first place is the other library app produced low-res images of the reading. The saving grace is that they have 24 / 7 tech support, and after a whopping 25 minute phone call while I was in the ER with my partner, and some email correspondence, I was able to not hack together a proper solution because their search function doesn’t find full texts of books but fragments and abstracts to peer-reviewed journal articles. It has been a terribly frustrating couple of days, and I’m a technologist(!) so I can only imagine how my fellow students are fairing. Delete. ### 3/5 — Text size doesn't change *2022-04-05, version 3.0.2* The app is helpful, but the Text size doesn't change on EPUBs. ### 2/5 — E-books not working *2021-12-16, version 3.0.1* I can’t download ebooks or pdfs. I have to use my computer and airdrop files. Kind of defeats the purpose of the app… ### 1/5 — Crash *2021-12-11, version 3.0.1* Application crashes when preparing book. **Developer response:** thank you for sharing your feedback, we are sorry to hear of the issue you faced. In our latest release (v3.0.2), we've added ability to view EBSCO eBooks online (in addition the the previously-released eBook downoad functionality). So, you should now be able to view EBSCO eBooks directly from the app, even if downloading is not available (or not working) for a particular eBook. Frequent malfunctions and undesired logouts. ### 1/5 — Months without ebooks *2025-10-11, version 9.0.0* This was a good app. It allowed you to download ebooks without having to use any sort of third party DRM software. But it’s mostly useless now, and it has been for months. ### 1/5 — Instantly crashes when i click the search bar… *2025-02-09, version 6.0.0* As the title states ### 1/5 — The worst *2025-01-14* This app is useless because the login is buggy. I have no problem logging in on my browser and checked to make sure that my institution is connected. I even deleted browser cookies and tried logging in again on the app, just to make sure that old data wasn’t messing things up. I contacted support but never heard back. ### 1/5 — App is essentially useless *2024-08-09* The main function of this app is to be able to search books or other online materials, but anytime I attempt to use search function, I get kicked off the app. ### 1/5 — Cannot log in *2024-03-25* I can’t find my institute ### 1/5 — No Advanced Search Options *2023-12-03* I am a person who is incredibly busy and often does not have time to sit down and read as many research articles as I would like, so I decided to try this app for while I am busy, like on the elliptical taking a walk or anywhere else I am busy and could want to study while my computer is unavailable. However I am very surprised there is no way to search title or abstract, which is crazy to me! Many of the articles I found were not applicable towards what I am looking into without these search criteria and I have yet to find out how to make that part of my search term. There should also be a manual way to swap the dates and not to limit from 5 years, ten years, or anything after that. A little slide bar like online is all that should be necessary for that. Hopefully there’s a few interface changes because I really enjoy EBSCO online but the mobile app is nearly unusable with how rudimentary it is. **Developer response:** Thank you for your detailed review. The app does not provide the full suite of features compared to the web applications. We did this intentionally to not overload the mobile app interface. You can search the title or abstract field in the app by entering TI for title before your search term or AB for abstract. The feature to filter to a specific date range is on our roadmap and will be added in the future. Idk it redirects to EBSCOzone or whatever, but I can log in through the polio if I go to “EBSCO support site” in the top right, but the redirect page isn’t communicating with their user database. Trash ### 1/5 — Bug *2023-09-18, version 4.2.1* The app won't even open my college sign in link. ### 1/5 — Sign in is inoperable *2023-08-01* I wanted to like this app after all the crappy apps that EBSCO has had before. At first this app alerted. However, when I am on my iPad I am forced to sign in, and the sign in window appears, but for reasons unknown, the keyboard does not. This does not happen with any of my other apps, that is how I know it is an EBSCO issue, not a user issue. I was able to use it for most of my senior capstone paper with ease! I believe it made my research a lot easier by being able to read articles from my phone and also by being able to email myself articles to read later from my laptop.
