## What is ECG HeartLab?

Your Apple Watch records ECGs. But do you really understand what they show?

HeartLab turns your ECG recordings into detailed, easy-to-read cardiac insights that go beyond what basic health apps show you. In-depth analysis, AI-powered explanations, and PDF reports you can share with your doctor.

ADVANCED RHYTHM ANALYSIS

Standard ECG apps classify Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). HeartLab also flags possible signs of five types of heart rhythm irregularities:

• Possible Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) - Irregular heartbeat originating in the atria
• Possible Premature Atrial Contractions (PAC) - Early beats from the atria
• Possible Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC) - Early beats from the ventricles
• Possible Bigeminy - Alternating pattern of normal and premature beats
• Possible Trigeminy - Pattern of two normal beats followed by a premature beat

Our algorithms examine every single heartbeat in your recording. Every finding is an indication to discuss with your doctor, not a diagnosis.

COMPLETE HRV ANALYSIS

Get a full picture of your Heart Rate Variability with 12+ metrics:

• SDNN - Standard deviation of NN intervals, a widely used HRV indicator
• rMSSD - Reflects parasympathetic nervous system activity
• pNN50 - Percentage of adjacent intervals differing by more than 50 ms
• Poincaré Plot - Visual representation of heart rate dynamics
• Cardiac Score - Our proprietary score combining multiple metrics

The same metrics used in cardiac research, now on your iPhone.

AI-POWERED EXPLANATIONS

Medical terminology can be confusing. Our AI assistant explains your ECG results in plain language, answers your questions, and helps you understand what your heart data means. Results are shared with the AI service only when you ask.

DETAILED PDF REPORTS

Generate detailed reports to share with your doctor. Each report includes:

• Complete ECG waveform visualization
• All measurements and intervals
• HRV metrics and trends
• Possible anomalies and patterns found
• Historical comparison

SEAMLESS INTEGRATION

• Automatic ECG import from Apple Health
• No manual export or complicated setup

**Developer response:**

**Developer response:**

HeartLab 由 CEPALabs SH.P.K.

Welche Uni? Welches Projekt?

### 1/5 — Oh boy this AI is so terribly wrong

*2026-06-09*

Save your time to talk to a real doctor, seriously

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback — and you're right about one thing: nothing replaces a real doctor. HeartLab is built on that principle.

One small clarification: your ECG measurements (rhythm, heart rate, intervals) don't come from AI, they're computed by validated signal-processing algorithms. The AI feature is an optional assistant that simply explains those results in plain language, and it's designed for education, never diagnosis.

If a specific result looked wrong, we'd genuinely like to look into it, please write to us at hello@heartlab.it with the recording in question. Reports like yours directly improve the app.

Sara, HeartLab Support

### 1/5 — Not very good

*2026-05-13*

I have a heart condition and This ECG app missed poss long QT Triplets PVC PAC Cuplets PVC/ PAC. Bigamey 7 PVC in one ECG so will not be Renewing as not very good at all.

**Developer response:** Hi MWR, thanks for taking the time to write this. We want to give you an honest answer rather than a generic one.

What you describe is unusual for HeartLab. Our detection pipeline is tuned to be more sensitive than specific, which means that in practice it tends to over-flag ectopic activity (couplets, bigeminy, PVCs, PACs) rather than miss it. Users with a known arrhythmia profile usually tell us the opposite of what you experienced. So either the recording had signal quality issues that limited the analysis, or there's a specific case we'd really like to look at.

If you're open to it, please send the ECG export to hello@heartlab.it. We'll review it personally with our team, and if the app genuinely missed what you describe we'll treat it as a priority case. A real recording from someone who already knows what's there is far more useful to us than any synthetic test, and it's exactly how we keep improving the PVC and PAC pipeline.

Thanks,
The HeartLab team

### 1/5 — $50 for an AI “invented” app

*2026-05-09*

Not against ai but its crazy so many new AI vibe apps asking this much money for some fancy aka dumb “invented” concept

**Developer response:** HeartLab is not an AI gimmick app.

It's the work of a team of 13 people, built in collaboration with cardiologists from Italian hospitals who validated every algorithm we use:

• Arrhythmia detection (PAC, PVC, AFib, bigeminy, trigeminy)
• Full HRV analysis with 12 metrics including SDNN, rMSSD, pNN50, Poincaré
• QT and QTc measurement using the Postema tangent method, the clinical standard used in hospitals
• Beat Signature analysis and Cardiac Score
• Professional PDF reports for your doctor

All of it processed on device. Your ECG data never leaves your phone.

The optional AI assistant only ever receives anonymized numerical summaries, never raw ECG data. It's one feature, not the product.

Premium costs €49.99 a year, less than a single Holter monitor exam. If you've actually tried the app and have specific feedback, write to hello@heartlab.it. We read and reply to every message.

Marta, HeartLab Support

### 1/5 — Way off, don’t bother

*2026-05-05*

Saying as a retired paramedic: this is not supposed be approved at all, causing harm to patients with terribly wrong readings. Funny enough the seller’s comment about ecg machines, which I had used many, confirms my suspicion that this likely, is made by a rookie, amateur at most, and the real harm is to those who cannot tell, which is the only reason i bother to leave this review

**Developer response:** Hi Artemis-4, thanks for taking the time to write this. Feedback from people with a clinical background is something we genuinely care about, even when it's harsh.

Just a couple of points worth clarifying.

HeartLab is a wellness and screening app, not a diagnostic medical device. We say this clearly inside the app and on our website. The goal is to help people notice patterns and bring useful information to their doctor, not to replace a clinical evaluation.

The algorithms are developed by our biomedical engineers and validated together with cardiologists here in Italy and researchers from a few universities we collaborate with. Every study and reference we rely on is public, both on our website and inside our Discord community. Anyone can read the methodology and check the sources.

If you have a specific ECG that gave you a reading you believe was wrong, please send it to hello@heartlab.it. We read every email and we use real cases to keep improving the app. A paramedic's perspective on a concrete trace would actually be very useful to us.

To be transparent with anyone reading this: in the past weeks we've been receiving a coordinated wave of 1-star reviews coming from beta testers of a competing app, clearly aimed at damaging our reputation rather than discussing the product. We sincerely hope your review isn't part of that pattern, and if it isn't we apologize for even mentioning it. In any case, we're working with Apple to identify and report bad-faith reviews, and we feel users deserve to know this is happening.

We take this kind of responsibility seriously, and we're always open to honest scrutiny. We just want readers of this review to have the full picture of what HeartLab is, what it isn't, and the context we're operating in.

Thanks again,
The HeartLab team

### 1/5 — Horrible app and experience

*2026-04-25*

This is a poor copy of ECG+. I’ll use the original app instead.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the feedback. We have to address this one openly because it touches a topic many of our users have started asking about.

HeartLab is not a copy of any other app. Our development timeline, design files and code commits are fully documented and predate several of the features we're now being compared to. We're a small independent team, building this product since long before the comparison you mention even existed in its current form.

For full transparency: in recent weeks we've been receiving a coordinated wave of 1-star reviews on different App Store regions, all dismissive, generic, and pointing users toward the same competing app. We sincerely hope your review is genuine, and if it is we apologize for even mentioning this. But the pattern is clear enough that we feel users deserve to know about it.

We're working with Apple to review these cases, and we welcome any honest feedback from real users. If you've actually used HeartLab and something specific didn't work for you, please write to hello@heartlab.it and we'll look into it personally. Every clinical study and methodology behind our algorithms is public on our website and on our Discord community, so anyone can verify what we do and how.

Thanks,
The HeartLab team

### 1/5 — Check ECG+

*2026-04-22*

The developer asked me to be constructive so here is one: RESPECT other apps work, you can get inspired but straight up copyying discredits whatever you are offering… evidence? Look at the 2nd screenshot showing an ecg strip, the navigator with letter R for easy locating beats is nearly identical to ecg+, yeah of course you can change color from red to purple but the way it works is IDENTICAL.

In case Apple is checking, compare element by element on the screenshot, even the grayed out text of Apple Watch device info is in the same position.

I don’t work for anyone but decent enough to call out dishonesty and unfairness

**Developer response:** Edit: the "navigator with R letter" is the standard convention for R-peak annotation used in clinical ECG analysis since the 1960s and across medical-grade devices. The position of Apple Watch device metadata is determined by standard iOS layout patterns. These are not proprietary design choices.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
We take feedback seriously, but we want to clarify that HeartLab is an independently developed product built around its own ECG analysis workflow, AI-assisted interpretation, HRV metrics, and report generation features. Our goal is to help users better understand their heart data, not simply to imitate existing apps.
Some visual patterns in ECG applications are naturally similar because they all present the same kind of physiological data, but similarity in how information is displayed does not mean the product or analysis engine was copied. The underlying experience, feature set, and analysis approach in HeartLab are designed from the ground up for our users.
If you have specific concerns about any feature or screen, we would be glad to review them directly. Constructive feedback is always welcome, but broad claims of copying without evidence are not helpful to users who are trying to evaluate the app fairly.

### 5/5 — All good thanks

*2026-03-08*

I have over 5k ecgs accumulated over the past 5 years and still the app works very well

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback! We're really glad to hear that HeartLab is still working well for you even after collecting over 5,000 ECGs over the past 5 years. Your support means a lot to us and motivates us to keep improving the app.
