## What is ECG Recorder for Polar H10?

Record ECG, heart rate, R-R intervals, and HRV with your Polar H10.

This app connects to the Polar H10 heart rate sensor and records three raw data types: electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate (HR), and R-R intervals (RR). It can also calculate heart rate variability (HRV) from the recorded RR intervals. Minimum H10 firmware version required for ECG is 3.0.35.

Live charts are available for ECG, HR, RR, and HRV. You can save screenshots of the live charts to Photos, and you can record videos of the live view using the iOS screen recorder from Control Center.

With an active “Enable premium features” subscription (IN-APP purchase), recordings are saved to the app’s folder in the Files app using the recording start time as the file name.

Premium features include:
- Live ECG, HR, RR, and HRV charts
- ECG export as .csv, .edf (EDF+), and legacy ascii text
- HR and RR export as .csv and legacy ascii text
- HRV export as .csv
- PDF export of the last 30 seconds of the live ECG view on ECG-style A4 paper at 25 mm/s and 10 mm/mV
- Apple Health export for heart rate, beat-to-beat timing, and HRV (SDNN)

CSV exports now include local timestamps and elapsed seconds, so in most cases no separate time column has to be created manually.

ECG DATA
ECG data is recorded at 130 Hz according to specification (my device works at 130.061 Hz) in microvolts (µV). That means one value every 7.692 milliseconds. A 10 minute recording contains about 78000 values. ECG values can be divided by 1000 to convert them to millivolts (mV). The “Set marker” button in the live ECG chart adds a value of 2000 µV to the data so markers can be found easily in graphs or by searching the data.

ECG recordings are also exported directly as .edf (EDF+) files and can be opened in the open source software EDFbrowser. Sample ECG data and demo videos for import into Apple Numbers and EDFbrowser are available here:
https://ecgh10.app/

HR DATA
About one heart rate value is recorded per second.

RR DATA
The RR interval is the time between two successive R-waves of the QRS signal on the electrocardiogram. RR intervals are recorded in milliseconds.

HRV DATA
HRV is calculated from accepted RR intervals and exported as RMSSD and SDNN in milliseconds.

The app is free to download so you can connect to a device and get a first impression. A few seconds of the live charts can be viewed for free. To unlock all premium features, choose one of the available IN-APP purchases. Each subscription includes a one week free trial.

Subscription will be charged to your iTunes account at confirmation of purchase and renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal at the original subscription price. Subscriptions can be managed in your iTunes Account Settings. Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, will be forfeited when purchasing a subscription.

### 5/5 — Best for biohackers

*2026-08-21*

This is the only app (that I could find) which allows continuous 24h tracking of HRV data using the Polar H10 strap. This is important for accurately measuring SDNN data in a way that compares to clinical literature. In general the app unlocks all features of the H10 strap. Furthermore it allows exporting the data (including raw RR intervals and ECG) to open formats (text, csv), which enables you to process it later using your own custom algorithms. This makes it ideal for biohackers. Bonus thanks for making the app compatible with my old iPhone 6s running an ancient iOS version.

P.s: some reddit threads seem to suggest incorrectly that the H10 was not designed for continuous monitoring of HRV. It might be a good idea if the dev posted about the app in those threads. I was only able to find this app after several painful searches using LLMs

### 1/5 — Für durchschnittliche Nutzer ungeeignet

*2026-06-26*

### 5/5 — Has apple health integration

*2026-06-11*

Overall it does what it says on the tin. It also retroactively writes to apple health (though if you’re lucky, most of the time the cache appears to exist before then anyway, and plenty of third party readers can see it)
I’d love to see some things changed, but that’s the case with any project like this. In particular I’d like an alert if the band disconnects for more than a minute, and it would be cool to set some sort of automatic/continuous mode.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review! Glad the app is useful.
I agree, a notification at disconnect would be useful. I will look into that. Thanks. Can you define automatic/continuous mode? Maybe send by email. Always open for suggestions. 😊

### 5/5 — Great app but the license purchased does not unlock on my iPad.

*2026-05-25*

I purchased the lifetime license on my iPhone. The purchase appears in my Apple purchase history on the iPad (same Apple ID), but the app does not unlock premium on the iPad. The app has no “Restore Purchases” option..

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. To restore your lifetime purchase on another device, please make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. Then open the subscription screen in the app and scroll all the way to the bottom to find “Restore Purchases.” If it still does not unlock, please contact support and I’ll be happy to help. If this resolves the issue and you enjoy the app, I’d really appreciate an updated rating. 😊

### 3/5 — Cannot find the data recorded

*2024-07-25*

I tried to locate the file, however, I’m unable to find it. Can you please help with that?

**Developer response:** Sure, can you please contact support at developer@cmdline.net?

### 4/5 — Apple Health Verbindung wäre geil

*2024-06-27*

Apple Health Verbindung wäre geil

**Developer response:** Ist implementiert. :-)

### 5/5 — Best Polar H10 app on the market

*2024-04-30*

Works exceedingly well for monitoring my exercises (rowing machine, hiking, and walking). An unexpected benefit was its invaluable help in diagnosing the heart rate subtleties (via the 'R-R Interval' and 'ECG Stream') associated with my nighttime sleep issues. Live plotting on the iPhone, along with data exporting to plotting software (spreadsheets, custom computer programming) makes this an invaluable tool.

### 1/5 — Trying to Charge me double after LIFETIME membership.

*2024-04-18*

I am trying to access the app after paying for the lifetime membership but it doesn’t allow me to access the features that comes with it and instead prompts me to pay again. Will revise review if/when this is fixed. Definitely not fair to not be able to use what I paid for and then get asked to pay again for it.

**Developer response:** Hello, the purchases are handled by the Apple App Store, not by the app. Does it work in the meantime? Feel free to contact support at ecg-recorder@poeml.de

### 1/5 — Not working and limited documentation

*2024-02-03*

I’ve tried to use this but have been unable to connect to my h10. It has the latest firmware but doesn’t show up in the app. I’ve tried with it paired in the normal iPhone Bluetooth and not but the app never sees it, there is nothing whatsoever in the docs about how to connect that I could see. The h10 connects fine to my fenix 6, my iPhone and polar flow/beat so I don’t think it is my device. I have looked at GitHub as well but no coverage of whether I need to pair to iPhone first or really any help unfortunately

**Developer response:** Hello, please contact support at ecg-recorder@poeml.de to solve the connection problem. Thank you.
