### 3/5 — Sad It’s Ending

*2023-04-04*

I was hoping for a redemptive experience in regards to how game designers mode of operation. If this were ever a labor of love towards the virtues it wrote about in the story telling this game would have lasted longer than a year. I probably spent $30-60 USD which is about as much as a title game costs. I’m assuming some CEO got his lump sum from the fan faire of the initial sell. The game offered some edge of figuring out puzzles for some fights but I think they hit a wall when they never opened it up to a shared open world you could do more quests with friends with not just boss dungeons. Anyhow, that’s my take on it. I wish everyone a happy 2023 and beyond.

### 4/5 — Unplayable at Start

*2022-08-17, version 1.5.1*

I loved this game, I used to play everyday and I enjoyed the story and the characters. I haven’t been able to play it as of late. Everytime I tap the screen to start the game, it never loads. It just goes straight into the opening sequence and starts all over again, I hope this can get fixed soon

### 3/5 — Infinite downloading

*2022-08-08, version 1.5.1*

Fun enough and pretty enough when you’re actually playing, but my primary experience with Echoes has been the content download screen.

Be prepared to get slammed with constant massive updates as they continue to build what is obviously an unfinished game.

### 4/5 — Good game but needs a but improving

*2022-07-21, version 1.4.0*

This game is fun and I love it.

But needs some serious fixes.. Devs are continuing to improve and are listing which is a good sign

1- We need a section where we can see all the heroes and know what we have and what we don’t.
2- Skip feature.. this is debatable but I think if you have all stars on a mission we can skip the mission and farm it.
3- Loadouts .. the gear UI needs a whole change especially when switching gears it gets confusing especially when I accidentally chose another hero's gear , checking the power right away instead of leaving the gear UI.

### 3/5 — Unfortunately Expensive gacha

*2022-06-03, version 1.1.0*

I was excited for this game, but unfortunately I realized that the game is set up for players to spend a lot of money to get duplicate characters to level the same character up… and the pity system is unusable. You have to accumulate 200 credits for a pity character all while there are 4 or 5 different character banners going on at the same time and the catch is the pity credits aren't universal! Seriously?!

They need to fix this or the game will fail very soon.

### 4/5 — I would really like to see this fixed, it’s almost ruining the game for me

*2022-06-02, version 1.1.0*

To start this off, I do really enjoy this game. I’ve played it a lot, have no real problems with the gacha system (even if the odds could be a bit higher and that we could get more crystals), have no real problems with the grinding, and the AI has been pretty good to me. What I do have a problem with, is the gameplay. This game does a weird thing that, even when I’m not on semi auto, for some attacks it will auto target enemies I’m not facing. For example: while using Riesz, I tried to use her wind special on a group of more powerful enemies in front of me, but instead, she turned the other direction and targeted a small enemy behind her, killing myself in the process. If this happened once, it would be fine. But every single day I play this game this scenario happens, and not just with Reisz too. Characters I’m controlling will randomly target enemies. This happens so much that it honestly feels like I’m fighting the game more than the actual enemies. This hurts my enjoyment of the game so much, and is my absolute biggest issue with it.

### 3/5 — As advertised but…

*2022-05-28, version 1.1.0*

It’s a gacha game through and through, and I don’t think at any point it ever tried to be anything but that. I play many gachas so I know what to expect and honeslty downloaded the game for the dopamine rush of all the free stuff at the start.

I persoanlly didn’t like the gameplay but I found the world, characters and art charming so I went and bought Trials of Mana for my Nintendo Switch and loved it(50 hours so far). For anyone who hasn’t played it and found the non-gacha parts appealing I would recommend playing the games it is based on!

### 4/5 — Lovingly crafted but grindy

*2022-05-20, version 1.1.0*

This game is amazing tribute to the mana series with fantastic art and music and characters from all the games. The gameplay is also faithful to the mana series- satisfying combat with brain-dead AI companions included.

It’s completely viable f2p although you’ll be limited too how much content you can chew through in a day, it should be enough to keep you busy.

The problem is that the story mode suddenly ends after chapter 5, and besides that there’s just a huge grind for materials. It’s only natural for a gacha, but it really made me ache for a REAL mana game with this level of production value, which we’ll probably never get.

### 5/5 — Good game...

*2022-05-19, version 1.1.0*

Easy to play, f2p friendly, story is good to but dont let player wait for a long time to played new chap or new content.

Many game lost many players beacause of that reason. I hope this game is not a same.

### 2/5 — Pay to win all the way

*2022-05-10, version 1.0.0*

I really wanted to love this game. Graphics are decent and the music is great. Almost reminded me of the old RPG days…almost. Like most gacha games, you have to collect gems that can be used to pull extra playable characters. The drop rate for 4-star characters are intentionally abysmal so that you pay real money to buy more gems to try your luck again. Some games, like Epic Seven, have what’s called a pity system, where if you pull certain number of times, you’re guaranteed that character you were trying for. This game does not have that.
This forces you to play the 3-star heroes you pulled while trying for that 4-star hero.

Gameplay is alright, but the fights are so few and missions are so short. You’re just smashing buttons half of the time.

The story is interesting, but honestly, for mobile games, I usually don’t care about it. Thankfully, they allow you to skip the dialogue scenes and there’s a lot of them too!

I gave up after a few weeks because I found it impossible to pull for the advertised 4-star hero. I saved close to 10k worth, but all I got were 3-star heroes.

If you’re into gambling away your hard-earned money for virtual characters and short-term happiness, this game’s for you. Otherwise, save your time and skip this one because you’ll never get that 4-star hero unless you like wasting your money and disappointment.

### 5/5 — Targetting System is BAD!

*2022-05-09, version 1.0.0*

The Target system is a mess when you're facing the other and your skills automatically faces the opposite way. It should use skills where your character is facing.

### 4/5 — It’s heating up my iPhone 13 a bit.

*2022-05-09, version 1.0.0*

Alright, so before you get any thoughts… this game is great. Like, really really good. The graphics 10/10, the gameplay 10/10, the NRG system… let’s just say ‘could do WAY better’. But back to the title, all of this greatness is heating up my iPhone 13 gradually. It’s definitely concerning since I ONLY play on the move. If the devs could somehow fix that issue, I’d definitely play this game for longer before leaving my phone to cool off. (Oh yeah, and also the NRG system) TLDR: 10/10 game so far. Would like to play more if my phone didn’t heat up every 2 hours.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Too greedy wasted potential

*2022-08-18, version 1.5.1*

This game could be great if devs werent so greedy… gems cost WAY too much roughly 20$ to do 1 10x pull on banners Cant refill energy without buying potions with real money You can literally only play 20 minutes then your out of stamina / energy Cant finish events they require you to be whale strong I hope the devs stop being greedy because they are ruining a good thing

### 1/5 — Lost all progress

*2022-06-23, version 1.2.0*

I wound up losing all my progress including a good amount of real money spent on this game due to having to switch phones suddenly and because I hadn’t carefully researched the data backup process beforehand or memorized several identifying aspects of my account (a 10+ digit number? My rank? My entire roster???) I was told by the support team there was nothing they could do to recover anything. Inviting a player to create a backup right away upon first logging in would have prevented this entire problem but nope. Now that Square-Enix has my money they couldn’t care less about me. Incredibly disappointing.

### 1/5 — A shallow cash grab

*2022-06-18, version 1.2.0*

I had high hopes for this game. The Mana series is highly beloved and I’ve been playing the series since my early childhood. This game is visually stunning and the action combat gives off those same vibes. However, this game is truly a buggy, technical nightmare. The UI is atrocious, the engine is highly unoptimized and the game lacks engaging content.

Instead you will just endlessly gear grind with no end in sight and repeat clear the same boss enemies in boring events. The gacha system is absolutely scummy and requires insane amounts of dupes to make banner units viable. Absolutely disappointed in this terrible disservice towards the Mana series. I hope one day WFS and SE get their act together and make this game worth playing.

### 1/5 — Tutorial

*2022-06-07, version 1.1.1*

Stop forcing the tutorial and let us play the game. Give me option to abandon fight you forced me into with a party you shoved down my throat. Let me reset level of unwanted characters you forced me to level. Stop forcing me to summon characters. Stop forcing me to equip and use candy. Stop forcing me to go to missions and bingo window. Stop forcing me to upgrade mana board. Give me back resources you forced me to spend in stupid mana board tutorial. Stop forcing me to equip gear.

### 1/5 — Horrible imbalanced

*2022-05-06, version 1.0.0*

The nostalgia factor is really all the game has going for it, fully a pay to play type of game. The Boss enemies one shot most of your characters no matter how well the are equipped or leveled. Little to no direction on how to proceed accept to grind your characters and spend money to level them. Oh, also you have a ‘time limit’ so don’t waste your gems trying to continue or else they are just wasted. Won’t be playing another Square mobile game again.

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2022-04-27, version 1.0.0*

The game is ok. Trials Of Mana was way better. You guys should have made this game half 2D and half 3D the controls are small and hard to press the buttons. But yeah you could have made the game like Final Fantasy Vll that is coming to mobile in 2023 they made their style of the game half the original and half from the Remake. This game could have been so much better. I played it for like 5 minutes and was like. I’m disappointed.

### 2/5 — Coop pretty dead

*2023-01-06, version 1.10.0*

I first got the game cuz of its high rating, but as I kept playing I couldn't help keep wondering how it even got rated high.. gameplay it self is clunky, u can cast skills that take forever to. Animate while watching a mob super armor through the hit and kill you during animation. Tower map is maneuverability is so small and mob hitboxes are big enough to block u from gathering all mobs up to aoe them down.. and yes u need to do this because floors are run on a timer.
Bravers arise is heavy on having dupes to rank high given ur opponents are equally capable skill wise as u.
menus take forever to navigate around because of loading times per anything u tap, also includes the million of screens u go through after a stage clear.
only pro for the game is the story is okay but its pretty much the typical childrens book type story.
also coop is dead, game wants u to run a ton of very hard difficulty events to grind out bingo bonuses but u can barely find a room or people to join urs. Made a coop a few times and was sitting there for a good 30mins and only ever had 1 person join.

### 2/5 — Add controller support or I’m not playing

*2022-12-06, version 1.8.0*

When I first downloaded this game I loved it I actually ended up spending close to 30$ but I recently bought a backbone and I grew up playing the mana games. And it is such a shame I can’t use a controller to play this. It literally feels like the old mama games and I can’t help but feel I would spend a lot more time playing this game and overall enjoy it better with controller support. Such a sad missed opportunity. The game literally feels like it’s meant to be played with a controller.

If they add controller support it’s 5 stars hands down

As is… 2 stars.

### 2/5 — Huge mana fan, but they botched this one

*2022-06-06, version 1.1.1*

The good: Graphics, music, and story are excellent, and the devs have been making good improvements to the game.
The bad: The improvements greatly devalue any previously purchased in app purchases, and it's yet another square enix game with a ladder filled with cheaters.
The ugly: The core gameplay feels absolutely terrible especially for a mana game. I don't think there's anything they can do to save this without completely overhauling the game.

### 2/5 — Unfortunate

*2022-05-12, version 1.0.0*

Had a full review written up, so let me redo this because it just dropped out. The game is made up of several short scene little videos that you can skip, characters that you can upgrade and attach little add-on cards, but you can’t see which is which and you have to flip back-and-forth constantly. The multitude of little short videos to watch is just irritating, as is the number of scenarios that you have to go through. Greatly disappointed, I love the whole series of mana games since Secret of Nana on the SNES. I hate that you can’t use a controller with this, it’s difficult to navigate with just the screen.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun ride

*2023-05-02*

Sad that this is the last month of the game, but I did enjoy it.

I kinda wish the stage progression wasn’t so aggressive with the power level recommendations, especially when the Gacha drops aren’t that cooperative. -__-;; Maybe that’s just me and my casual, poor-Gacha-luck self. Couldn’t figure out the mana spirit part of the unit ascension, unless I hadn’t reach that part, hmm.

Besides that, I loved the game and this is technically the second Mana game I’ve ever played, the first being Legend of Mana. Seeing the LoM characters animated in this style and given voices made me really happy. I really wish I can save the voices so I can listen to them, especially Elazul’s. It’s lower than what I imagined years back, but over time, I came to love his voice here.

Ah, anyway, here’s to hoping we see a new form of Echoes in the future. Until then, good luck!

### 5/5 — Ignore all the bad reviews, this is such a good game!

*2022-11-10, version 1.8.0*

Great game! This game is my first gacha and I really like it! It’s really fun and there are a lot of characters and quests to get and complete. I just started a few days ago and I have so many characters! I imagine that after a while you have to pay to get a lot of crystals later on to pull in the harvest banners, but in the beginning, it gives you a lot of them. I have 18,000 and just started. And you can get them easily by playing. The co op I have to try too and the events are really cool, they bring new characters. Just get it its really fun and good

### 5/5 — Combat is surprisingly in depth

*2022-10-27, version 1.8.0*

With a variety if interesting features and mechanics combat is far more in depth than it first appears, however the game does still have a slightly weak AI and a fairly predatory gacha system (pity system is not player friendly). I have a fondness for the mana series that probably biases me, but this is well worth playing imo

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2022-10-14, version 1.7.1*

I’ve always been a fan of the Mana series and this game has been a great addition. It’s not perfect all games have flaws, but I could play this till the content stops! Keep it coming SquareEnix!

### 5/5 — MUST PLAAAYY

*2022-10-03, version 1.7.1*

The pulls can be rough but they do give you lots of free tickets and free gems. You can easily play without having to pay a dime. Take your time and spend your time learning the game instead of focusing too much trying to pull rainbows. Some 3 stars are outstanding boss killer. Pleas learn the to play this awesome game!

### 5/5 — Honestly a good time killer for last summer

*2022-09-11, version 1.6.1*

Was bored and wanted to try something new. Stumbled upon this and I don’t regret much other than when I quit the game for a while. Still a fun game.

### 5/5 — Day 1

*2022-08-16, version 1.5.1*

This game has come a long way. It’s nothing compared to when it 1st launched. I am so impressed with the changes and keeping us updated with what’s coming and listening to us. I would support the game more if monthly or weekly packs were to ever come to the game. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Opening Movie

*2022-08-02, version 1.4.0*

Can the skip movie button during the opening movie take you directly into the game instead of back to the same “click to enter” title screen?

### 5/5 — AWESOME ABOUT TIME!

*2022-05-20, version 1.1.0*

It’s about time some of the old school RPG’s got some love dammit. Lol now I was anticipating this arrival so I’m very happy that it actually came out. Although there are some things that I feel could be better, such as :
The targeting
The Unit AI
And the Stagger (It seems as though the enemy can stagger you but not so much the other way around.)
My only gripe is, and it’s not really a huge problem but I would love to see the old school sprites that they used in the Mana series,Not saying that the models that they have for the characters currently don’t look nice. I would just like for nostalgia purposes to go back to the way to sprouts look during the SNES and early PlayStation.
Am I alone on this?

### 5/5 — Great dev team

*2022-05-20, version 1.1.0*

This game is good, could be better. The thing is the dev team has been so responsive to player feedback and has made both minor and major updates in response in a timely manner with great communication regarding timelines and such. Here’s to hoping it continues to grow and develop to unleash Dryad lvl 8 Mana Magic and unleash the Mana Sword on that beast!
