No RF radio required. Or for hams who want to listen to repeaters anywhere in the world! Pretty basic user interface but it works. Need to get used to waiting for 3 seconds after push to talk which is Normal for digital radios. ### 4/5 — Can’t find stations! *2025-11-27, version 2.20.32* The search or directory of stations is incomplete. After reloading it the value went down to 0db. However, there is a problem with the iPadOS edition. The biggest problem I’ve been having today is adjusting the microphone volume. When I go to access that, it will not open up. There is something wrong with that particular setting. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. Can’t even access rating site on iPhone14Pro ### 1/5 — Unable to Use; Password Too Long *2024-09-02, version 2.17.26* I am a licensed amateur operator. I recently registered for EchoLink on my PC. I routinely set passwords greater than 15 characters in length for security. During registration on my PC, I created a 16 character password and it was accepted. I downloaded the iPhone EchoLink app, entered my call sign, password and email. I received an error message that the password I entered was more than 14 characters. The app would not sign me into EchoLink. I researched and learned I cannot change my password for EchoLink. Therefore, it seems I will never be able to use the iPhone EchoLink app. Bummer! ### 4/5 — Fuss with fcc license *2024-08-09, version 2.17.26* Look. The fcc website is a paint enough to navigate. I went through all the steps to get my license but your app says it can't take a reference copy. Honestly that's too much effort on my part. Your system needs to be more user friendly. Maybe your app should query qrz or some other database to get my license instead of requiring the user to do it. We have ai now for crying out loud. EDIT: Forgive my earlier frustration, please. I don't have a PC and must do all this with an ipad, which is frustrating enough then add in FCC website woes and the result is a dose of frustration. I could not get the ipad to produce the official copy I needed and fcc.gov was showing its typical charisma. I really think the system needs more automation and less involvement from the end user. After finally getting access to a PC I was able to get the proper license copy. For those who do not have access to a PC, another verification method would be much better. I see the developer response. I tried tog get my dad set up on echolink and the whole thing takes too much time. It is fixed when I delete and reinstall the app. But it starts giving the same error again: “Network Problem There was a problem communicating with the EchoLink server: Bad address. Please check your Internet connection.” ### 1/5 — Bad update *2025-03-25, version 2.20.32* Just updated EchoLink to find that it’s now stuttering all the time. Seems there must be some issue going on. It’s not my side that’s at fault, all other similar apps are working fine. ### 1/5 — No support for passwords longer than 14 characters *2025-03-05, version 2.19.31* This makes the app literally unusable for most people. As you can see by the developer response, they don’t have any helpful answer to this. In an email they told me that this is to prevent incompatibilities between other versions of the app; which ignores the inherent incompatibility this actively creates: you can set a password >14 characters on desktop, which is apparently incompatible everywhere else. They told me that this is to avoid breaking compatibility of the app between legacy platforms, which implies this limit is actually arbitrary in the case of the modern iOS app. Here’s my question: Why not allow it, but warn users entering a password >14 characters that it will be incompatible elsewhere? It’s the only system that can be used on a PC, tablet and IOS and Android Phones. It’s used by hundreds of thousand hams worldwide. Hans can also connect nodes via IRLP and AllStar Link. The audio is outstanding. The only issue is with the latest 2.20 version. I can’t adjust the microphone boost.
