### 2.3 — 2026-08-20

This update prepares Eclipse Companion for the 2 August 2027 total solar eclipse. It now starts with the 2027 event selected, uses the nearest supported city when location access is enabled, and falls back to Luxor when location access is unavailable. The city list now includes expanded coverage across Egypt, North Africa, southern Europe, Mediterranean islands, and all European capitals. You’ll also find Aug 2 historical weather data, a clearer eclipse chooser with past events, and improved iOS layout support for Display Zoom.

### 2.2 — 2026-07-03

Added support for the 2 August 2027 Total Solar Eclipse.

• New eclipse selector: switch between the 12 August 2026 and 2 August 2027 events
• Added 2027 eclipse data with expanded city coverage
• Updated Great Spots for 2027 eclipse countries and viewing locations
• Totality Path and visibility maps now center on the selected city
• Default event selection keeps 12 August 2026 active through eclipse day, then switches to 2 August 2027 from 13 August 2026 onward
• General timing, weather, map, and visibility refinements
• Fixed the iPad hourly weather strip layout to show more forecast hours on larger screens

Totality Map: Elevation data
Tap any city in the app’s city list, or any point in the totality path, to see altitude, latitude, and longitude. City elevations appear instantly, and custom points can fetch live elevation data.

Landscape mode improvements
Fixed a crash when opening the Totality Map in landscape on some older devices. Also improved the tap result card layout to avoid the notch and Dynamic Island when rotated.
