No control of mobile taking photos of docs, which are then rejected as unclear. Helpline excellent. And requires three copies of current address, incl on ID which seems ott. ### 1/5 — App is non functional *2026-04-09, version 1.48* Completely broken, barely able to fill in documents, text boxes are not long enough for the required text. Bunch of poo. ### 1/5 — Being Forced to Use an App for Legal *2026-03-01, version 1.46* I have to say, the ECOS Legal app is incredibly frustrating when it comes to completing legal forms on a “mobile” device. The screens are tiny, and many of the questions and documents are huge. It’s almost impossible to read and fill out everything properly. For something as important as “legal” documents, this feels clunky and poorly designed. There something you don’t really need an app for and this is one of them! ### 1/5 — Incomplete app, support unable to assist *2026-02-18, version 1.46* I had a nuance in my application that I did not have to fill in a section of the forms, I queried this with support and they did not even understand why I was struggling and you can’t even download the chat transcript (even though there is a button - huge red flag) for the chat so I needed to take screenshots. ### 1/5 — Dreadful *2026-01-09, version 1.43* A desperately poor user interface. The ID checking section is cumbersome, slow and difficult. The data gathering part tortuous and inflexible. Unsure how much confidence to have regarding personal data security. Ended up abandoning it and reverting to old fashioned paper and post. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2025-12-04, version 1.43* The person who developed this app probably never tried using it or purchased a property. I have bought and sold mms t houses/flats, but this was the worst. It stalled many times and didn’t allow me to continue Person/person much more preferable. ### 1/5 — Useless app *2025-10-13, version 1.43* This app need to improve lot in the team of uploading multiple file and scanning the document. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — A hopeless tool for lazy solicitors *2026-07-17* There’s nothing straight forward that can’t be complicated by solicitors. They take on too much work, don’t have enough time to deal with your case and want you to do all the work they are getting paid for. This app is one such device they use. It’s utterly hopeless - a proper example of “computer says no” and with a 1.9 star review (which should tell them it’s hopeless), why is anyone still using it? End result is I’m just having to go to the office anyway and provide the required documentation. I could have saved 2 hours and just done that in the first place. Useless ### 1/5 — Worst app ever *2026-06-19, version 8.0.5* Bombed out 6 times, eventually had to ring support who blamed the app and told me to do it via a web browser. ### 1/5 — Fed up *2026-06-16, version 8.0.5* Am on my third attempt- keep’s crashing ### 1/5 — Erratic *2026-06-08, version 1.51* Massively frustrating process - took hours to get it to work. I feel sick with the stress of it. ### 1/5 — Refused to answer GDPR subject matter access request *2026-05-31, version 1.51* Beware of this company. They are offshore and are refusing to answer a direct request to provide answers to specific questions I have raised. You have been warned don’t risk your data with them! ### 1/5 — Not working *2026-05-12, version 1.51* I installed it today and uploaded the documents, but after a few hours it stopped working. I restarted my iPhone, but it’s still not working. ### 1/5 — Avoid *2026-05-12, version 1.51* It asks for bank account numbers and sort codes. Avoid - upmarket phishing ### 1/5 — Terrible user experience *2026-05-06* I don't know who designed this but buttons are badly labelled, there is a great deal of repetition and the whole experience feels like it was designed by a lawyer who wanted to get revenge for some wrong they experienced Perhaps they were forced to read Kafka as a child and decided to take the lessons learned as an inspiration. ### 1/5 — Utter Rubbish *2026-04-30, version 1.51* So many firey hoops and rugby post hurdles it’s not real. Frustrating beyond belief. We don’t necessarily have hard copy available people. Bills are more often than not quarterly. No one has paperwork or necessarily has printing access. Bloody ridiculously hard. How hard? Bloody ridiculously. Other id verification apps just aren’t this garbage. ### 1/5 — 🤬 *2026-04-22* A nightmare system to use - particularly when trying to help a 98 year old navigate his way round it. The questions don’t always make sense and despite asking for a ludicrous amount of information it doesn’t actually ask the crucial questions. Entire process took about 5 minutes. No bugs, delays or technical issues as far as I could tell. Good experience overall. ### 5/5 — Worked Fine *2026-04-10* I was dreading to use this, given other reviews but the whole process worked smoothly, first time. Camera and upload processes were all flawless. ### 5/5 — Worked well for me *2025-12-01, version 1.43* Only 5 mins to complete ### 5/5 — Seemed fine to me… *2025-10-10* Was dreading using this app for sale & purchase solicitor onboarding having seen the reviews. As others have mentioned, the app kept telling me that my passport was too close/too far away when taking a photo, but there was a camera button to just take the picture whenever you wanted to when your passport is in the frame properly. I didn’t need to wait for the app to accept that my passport was in frame properly before taking the picture. No other problems and took hardly any time at all. Can only think in-app experience must vary significantly depending on who the solicitor is and how they have their forms set up ### 5/5 — My onboarding experience *2025-08-07* I used this app to onboard for setfords and I must say this was easier than toasting bread. I highly recommend this to all solicitors to use.
