I could easily spend hours playing it. I was delighted when it came to iPhone/iPad. Much of the game play is the same, with some good adaptations to the touch-screen format. Great replayability. Addicting. I feel this game retains all the great things about the original while injecting the primary play of the game with a new element - stress. Being able to fail gardens ruins the chill atmosphere created by the brilliant art, sound design, and gameplay. On the console, I didn’t mind the timer because I could always come back and find the spectra, whereas in this game you have 5 tries and that’s all you get. You can continue playing in a different mode, but playing through levels I have failed is completely unsatisfying. The play mechanics are awesome, the sound is awesome, the visuals are awesome, the structure of the game ruins the mood so excellently established by everything else. ### 4/5 — Fun and Quick Exploration Adventure *2019-02-07, version 1.3.008* Its a great game to just mindlessly play and enjoy, the levels bursting with aesthetic and are adventurous. BUT It is very hard to learn, as the tutorial doesn’t really explain your aim or how to get to it. Basically, you need to find and charge a “Spectra” with pollen. The spectra pulses and a large wave can be seen across the background every minute, which briefly tells you where to head for. You then need to grow various plants by charging their seeds with pollen, so that you can jump across towards the spectra. Controls are very well done and smooth, although a bit confusing to learn, again. Flick the direction you want to jump and you’ll shoot there. If you’re on a plant, you can spin around it in a circle to collect pollen using your silk string. If you’re in mid air, you can hold down your finger to suck in some pollen. Generally, it’s a great game once you understand what to do. Tutorials need to be improved, and maybe rewards need to be a bit more generous, but other than that this game is great for a quick three-minute “give your mind a break”. ### 2/5 — What??? *2019-02-04, version 1.3.008* I don’t understand the game, and I hate the 10 last second before it ending « so noisy” it stresses me! ### 2/5 — meh *2019-02-03, version 1.3.008* It has a good concept but the controls feel clunky and game will crash 9/10 when you load it. As a little character jumping and swinging around collecting pollen to pass levels, it can be relaxing and fun. But passing the first level is near impossible. It doesn’t have a clear path of where you’re actually supposed to go. “Seed is charged, jump in!” Is the seed visible? No. Does it show you where the seed is? No. It took me a long time and I didn’t even find the seed. The levels have time limits. Controls are iffy and difficult to understand, even with the tutorial. Eden on PS3 is one of my all time favourite games. I did seemingly random movements within the first tutorial without feeling like I had any real control of my grimp. Highly suspicious. I will update my review once the camera permission becomes optional... Edit: Time has passed but the app still requires camera permission. Also, you don’t need to collect data from my phone and send it back to you for “enhancing the experience of your game” or something. Stay out of my phone. Get rid of the data collecting and the mandatory camera usage and maybe I’ll be okay with this game- the controls and the gameplay are incredibly weird and hard to handle, there isn’t a UI on anything that would show you, for instance, how many jumps you had left or whatever I’m doing when the character spins and sparkles for a bit, then stops. The colors seem to overdo it a bit, and I would definitely darken your landscape to add contrast to the background- there was a couple of times when I tried to land on something that wasn’t there. It just looks like a ploy to collect data - make something just playable and recognizable enough for mobile to make it addicting to people so you can violate their privacy.
