### 4/5 — Very useful food journal 

*2010-04-30, version 0*

This is a great food journal. Once you have all your foods put in, it is so easy to go back and plug it right in to your day. It takes 2 seconds, and makes me accountable for what I'm putting in my body. A couple improvements I would like to see in the next update would be: 1. To rearrange the foods you already logged in order. I log the foods in the AM of what I'm going to eat for the day, but if I change it around, it would be nice to have it in order.
2. An option for logging when you ate it - morning, afternoon, evening would be easy, or an option to put in the time it was eaten.
3. To put food in your journal a day in advance. I plan my lunch and snacks for the next day, and it would be helpful to log those as I'm packing it up the night before.
Thanks for a great app that's on my home screen and is used more than any other app!

### 5/5 — GREAT APPLICATION!!!!!

*2009-10-26, version 0*

This is my 3rd time posting a review of this application. I have been using it for quite awhile and I still find it to be a great app for recording what I eat each day. This app is continually updated and so far every update has made it even better.
-------------------------------------------

I love Edibles. It is especially great for me because I am on Weight Watchers and this app is perfect for keeping a log of what I eat, the points totals, and my weight record. "DrJim's" review states most people would rather scroll through food lists then enter data on food. I think he is wrong. For me personally I don't mind entering the food I eat -- I only need to enter each different food one time, and then it becomes a part of my personal list of food choices, not a never ending list that is made up of mostly foods I'll never eat. My list contains ONLY the foods that I eat. This app is also very easy to use. I love it! (Thanks for making the changes I requested in my previous review.)

### 3/5 — Good app, needs a few additions

*2009-10-06, version 0*

This seems to be a pretty good app so far. I really like that there is no food database because I like to add my own and it's really easy with this.

I wish that the log had the option to add the time that you ate each food/meal. Also, I'm doing LA Weight Loss and it doesn't completely work with this program. I'd like to be able to input how many fruits, veg, starches, proteins... I need each day and have it count down from there. I don't personally need total points or units for the day or week. Also, the addition of weight tracking & graphing would be wonderful!! With these additions, this would be a 5+ star app.

### 4/5 — A great help and wonderful support

*2009-10-02, version 0*

This is one of my favorite apps. It is simple to use and extremely intuitive. You do have to enter your own database, but after a few weeks, you will have most of your items. It keeps me honest.

I was extremely impressed with their customer support. I had a problem with the most recent update -- an issue they were working to resolve with a new fix. When I wrote about it, they sent me an immediate update and I was back in business in 24 hours. This is what support ought to always be like!

### 5/5 — Love this App!!

*2009-10-01, version 0*

Love this app, I can track my daily points and follow my food and don't have to pay WW,, even though I am a life time member, they cut you off of their tools inless you continue to pay. Edibles allows you to follow your daily points and excerise and keep on track. New downloan took away the alphabet on the side of the food, please bring that back was so much easier then typing in the food. Thanks for a good app.

### 5/5 — Excellent Tracking functions for cross-dietary platforms

*2009-09-28, version 0*

"Edibles" is an excellent tool for tracking intake-Calories, Points, Carbs, etc. While some have denounced it because of it having NO database, I actually prefer it that way. I want to add what I want in there and not have to flick through other foods I'll never eat. So, when a database is added, there needs to be the user option/preference to add a default database... or not.

As a Calorie Tracker who is doing a modifed version of Weight Watchers with tracking calories instead of POINTS while using a weekly bank, etc., this app is proving to be extremely valuable to me and my wife. For the first month, I'm adding in the food I eat to the database which helps me to remember what their values are. It keeps my database down to what I want in there along with a generic food called "Calories" for those quick entries.

Kudos to Random-Ideas for keeping this affordable AND easy to use. I HIGHLY recommend this app because I know it works.

### 4/5 — Edibles

*2009-07-18, version 0*

This is a great app! With the ability to modify how calculations are made and what is actually tracked, it makes monitoring your eating habits very easy. I personally credit this app with helping me lose more than 20 lbs. Another real plus is the responsiveness of Random Ideas, LLC when you have questions or suggestions for improvements. While I have several food apps, this is definitely my favorite! I've only given it 4 stars because I'm a very strict grader.

### 5/5 — Edibles is the best app for WW

*2009-06-30, version 0*

I have been using Edibles since 11/08 to track points for weight watchers. With a little customization, it can record every aspect of the WW system and can calculate WW points within the program. The weekly points counter and the rollover option for exercise points work flawlessly. By far and away this is the most-used function on my phone. I always have my phone with me, and therefore always have my means of tracking points. When you first get started, it may seem daunting that the developers chose to write the program without a built-in food database, but you'll soon find that it's a lot more customized if you enter your common items as you go. Also, in the long run it's the total number of points that counts, not having a record of every single item eaten -- so in addition to my custom list, I also have a generic category for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and misc -- that way if you need to enter points for something that you're not likely to have again you don't have to create a category just for that. I really can't say enough about this app -- It has seen me through a 42 lb weight loss and has been the best tool I've had to help me through the process. Now that I'm on maintenance I still use it religiously and it is helping me self-calibrate and maintain my new weight.

### 5/5 — Reeeeeaaallllllyyy Greeeaaattt !!!!

*2009-06-25, version 0*

This app is really great. It does not include any pre-installed food lists, which is great for me. I am on Slim4Life and can only eat foods from my food list and so many servings of each food a day. It took a while to enter all of the foods and get everything set the way I wanted, but now I can even share my settings and Food List with my friends that are also on the same plan. I have done all of the work for them. The App is sooooo simple to use and now I can keep my Food Diary with me and can even keep track of weight. You can sync it up online with a FREE Edibles-Online account, and keep all of your info backed up online. I would rate this 10 Stars, if I could.

### 5/5 — Perfect for My Needs

*2009-06-22, version 0*

Many tracking programs availabe offer everything but the kitchen sink. I was interested in being able to track my food intake (both daily and weekly), chart my weightloss (I'm an optimist), and be able to customize the tracking and food database. Edibles fit that niche perfectly. As a busy mom of two boys, a wife, and a full-time teacher, being able to track my food on my iPhone is much easier than lugging a bulky notepad around with me. This is a fabulous app for WW like me!

### 5/5 — Love Edibles

*2009-05-04, version 0*

I've been very happy with Edibles! I purchased it about half-way to my goal weight for WW. I'm not actually a member of WW but I live with one and have been following the plan with her. She loves keeping track of stuff and I hate it. This app made it much easier as it's easily customizable and now I can usually find the stuff we eat in the my database. After losing 115 lbs, I'm within 5 lbs of my goal weight and very glad I spent the $6. This app of course didn't lose the weight for me, but it was a very helpful companion to a journaling challenged person.

### 4/5 — Great app! Able to loose the paper journal!

*2009-03-06, version 0*

I've had Edibles for about 2 weeks. I have been on Weight Watchers for several weeks and have depended on the paper journal to track my food intake. Edibles locked up when I changed the calories field to points but the Random Ideas team responded very quickly advising to reinstall the software and the problem would be resolved. It worked and I'm happy not to carry around a journal! Would be nice if it had a points calc included but not a big deal. Thanks for the great app!

### 3/5 — Best calorie counter i've found!

*2009-02-23, version 0*

I've bought several different calorie counting apps, and was never satisfied until i found this one. Here's what i like about it:
-no internet connection required (a plus for those of us without iphones)
-you create the food database, rather than having to wade through a long list of foods you're never going to eat
-it stores the food info so you don't have to type in the food and calories every time (a common feature in the cheapo tracking apps)
-it saves a 2 week history of what you've eaten, which you can edit if need be
-very easy to use, well designed interface
-it puts the number of calories (or points or whatever you're tracking) left for the day on the icon, so there's no need to open the app to check

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Where’s my data

*2019-08-31, version 3.3.4*

I used this app specifically to log weight and calorie intake. With the new update, that’s not an option. There’s nothing on the update that you can’t just google yourself.

### 1/5 — All my data lost!

*2019-06-24, version 3.3.4*

With the new update I lost all my custom foods and weight history. I can google nutritional info, but I can’t recover what I lost. Very disappointed!

### 1/5 — Lost all my data

*2019-06-05, version 3.3.1*

I tracked my weight for years in this app. With the update that said just “text updates” I lost all my data and custom foods. I contacted the app for help, but they never returned my request.

### 1/5 — All the value gone

*2019-05-28, version 3.3.1*

I have to concur with Amy Grant Fan. This isn’t the same app it used to be. I had it for counting carb choices and tracking weight history. Now this app is useless to me.

### 1/5 — Where did the customized options go??

*2019-05-24, version 3.3.1*

Oh my gosh, I am sick. I have used this app for a decade and always enjoyed the customized options it offered. I had my foods entered in, with all of their nutritional info and everything. I used the app to track Weight Watchers points and had my daily number, including my weekly bonus points, all calculated to work automatically. Now, with this latest update, it’s all gone!! Now this app is just another run-of-the-mill, generic food database. So disappointing... :(

### 1/5 — Poor Quality Software, save your money

*2010-11-01, version 0*

Where to begin? For starters, the "food database" is a fraud. You have to enter each food item and the calories. The Exercise log? Another joke as the user has to figure out the amount calories burned, which is not something most people can do. The whole POS runs soooo slowly that I can do other things while waiting to move from 1 screen to another. To top it all off, the developer asks for all kinds of information, most of which is duplicated anyway. Very poor customer service, and the developer needs to learn English in a hurry. The web synchronization? Another joke, as you press the button and poof! Nothing happens. Find something else and don't bother with this garbage.

### 1/5 — Buggy, Labor-intensive, not worth the money

*2009-02-10, version 0*

The synchronization between the website data and iPhone logs only worked sometimes. Also, to add foods, one needs to already know the caloric/nutritional information, which means having to do quite a bit of research. Likewise with exercise, which doesn't even let you enter separate kinds or amounts. It just wants a total number of calories. I was disappointed, especially after largely favorable reviews, and ended up uninstalling this program in favor of a free and much better version, "Lose it!", which allows the user to look up foods and exercises from a database. I recommend looking at the free apps before paying for this one. It proved useless and a waste of money and time.

### 1/5 — Requires a lot of data entry at start up

*2009-02-06, version 0*

As a physician, I am always looking for programs to help overweight patients. This one held promise in the reviews that I read. One of the greatest problems with diet initiation is the ease of program start. This program requires you to add each food one by one. This may not be so much of a problem for the at home eater but what about restaurant food? I entirely disagree with the programers in that most of their clients do not want to scroll through a long list. Most of my patients prefer a list that they can easily choose from. A competitors program called "Loose It" does this very nicely and is much more convenient.

Once again I wish that there were a way to try programs before you purchase them here!. While the overall cost of this program is not great, I feel that the program fails by making you add foods and makes restaurant meals near impossible to add. Convenient diet foods such as Healthy Choice and Weight Watchers must be added by hand. It is simply too much work in the short haul to be useful. I simply cannot recommend it.

### 1/5 — Terrible App!!

*2009-01-24, version 0*

I have bought over 25 apps on the iTunes store, and this is by far that absolute worst!! It does not help you set a daily calorie goal to meet your weight loss target. It comes with no predefined food lists, so you have to search and enter nutritional information for everything (even common foods like an apple). It is a lot of work to get up and running to overcome the laziness of the developer. The online service is also poorly designed and does not work very well with the app on the iPhone. I hope this review prevents others from wasting their money. The free calorie tracking apps are far superior. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere!

### 2/5 — Lost data

*2019-05-30, version 3.3.1*

Where's my data from the last decade? I stuck with this app thru its problems & now I have to start over???

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Low sugar

*2021-02-03, version 3.3.9*

Fast and easy app to see how much sugar is in different foods

### 5/5 — Easy and helpful

*2020-12-03, version 3.3.4*

Very easy to use. Great info. Also helpful for my diabetic father.

### 5/5 — Handy nutrition information

*2019-06-01, version 3.3.1*

Very easy to use. Always good to check before purchasing the food.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2019-05-28, version 3.3.1*

Simple to use has everything I search for. Can’t get much more basic.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2011-09-02, version 2.6.3*

So easy to use, so quick, and such motivation to keep you on track. Most foods I eat I know the calorie info for so I type it in once and I'm done. If there is an unlabeled food such as a banana or an exercise all u have to do is google it and there u have it. I love not having to bust out the calculator and tediously write everything out. I use my own abbreviations for longer words just to save time. The weight calculator is motivating bc after u type in your weight for the day it will automatically calculate and show how much u have lost to date and how many more pounds till your goal. No calculator. So easy. I don't use it for weight watchers just for calorie counting and holding myself accountable! Great app!

### 5/5 — Tired of paying for WW?

*2011-08-20, version 2.6.3*

This app is perfect if you've been using the Weight Watcher's app and are tired of paying for it. I've been doing WW for 7 months and have lost 40 lbs so I feel like I understand how to eat at this point and was tired of paying $17 a month. This is the only tracking app i've found that will allow you to customize for calculating Points Plus and keeps track of your weekly points too. I just copied all the foods i eat all the time from my WW database and entered them in here. Anything else I want to add I just calculate the points based on the nutritional info I find online and add it to the database. It also keeps track of your weight & exercise, just like the WW app. This app is well worth the purchase price to save those monthly payments! Perfect!

### 5/5 — Great customer service

*2010-12-26, version 2.6.3*

I upgraded to an iPhone 4. Edibles stopped working, I couldn't figure out why, and I didn't notice that the "update all" button was telling me that it needed an update (head desk at myself). I emailed customer support, and within two hours, I had an answer back, telling me that what I was describing would almost certainly be fixed by updating....Dh had already pointed out to me the update stuff, so I was in the process of doing so when I noticed the Cust Support email telling me the same thing.

A personal reply, at 8:-00 in the evening is pretty good service, I think ;-) Especially for something that was a result of my own stupidity ;-)

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2010-08-26, version 0*

It's like you anticipated everything I'd hoped for, personally, in a dieting journal.

And thanks for having the foresight to make a foods database an option instead of designing it into the app. (Don't know how folks expect you to include one that's relevant to their needs when the beauty of Edibles is that you set up your own formula to track Weight W-- er, whatever arcane variables you want.)

It would still be nice for the foods you enter to remember/display the values used in the calculation, but that's a fine point, in my case. Can I give it six stars?

### 5/5 — Lost 41 pounds so far

*2010-05-23, version 0*

I have been on WW before and lost the weight, then put it back on. The single most useful behavioral advice from WW is journaling. But what person, especially a tech savvy guy like me, wants to pull out a WW journal book, pencil, and slide rule in a restaurant? Not me. Enter Edibles.

I started logging WW points with Edibles last Thanksgiving, and have gone from 227 pounds to 186 on my way to goal of 165. Saved hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours compared to WW meetings. You can use this formula to get the built in calculator to give you WW points for any food based on the nutrition label: (<Calories>/50)+(<FatGrams>/12)-(<FiberGramsMax4>/5)

### 5/5 — extremely useful

*2009-11-22, version 0*

This is one of the first apps I downloaded when the the app store debuted. It's one of the essentials that allows me to ignore my old PDA. This app is simple to use. Having the new online option is very handy for foods that I don't yet have nutritional info for. It was easy to customize the app for point calculation. The developers respond immediately to issues, and the app keeps getting better.
