Turned up to venue who said I have no booking. Now my account says outstanding and won’t let me book anything. Emailed their customer service and they acknowledged the email but never fixed the issue. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-09-10, version 107.92* The app keeps sending me back to the App Store to download the app. I give up. Has anyone actually tested this app?? ### 2/5 — Terrible *2024-05-20, version 106.71* Gave it two stars because it looks pretty, but it’s fairly useless so far. I just wanted to log in and upgrade my membership but that’s proved impossible. Also annoying, because I had to log in twice as to buy a membership the app just sends you to the EL site in the app window. Tried to log into the app and it rejected my credentials. Reset the password on the website and the app still rejects it. Can’t even get logged in. Hard pass from me. ### 1/5 — Awful *2023-07-23, version 106.59* Not only is this app absolutely awful, the whole Edinburgh Leisure website is terrible too. Wanted to book adult tennis lessons. Opened the app, went to coaching section, selected Craiglockhart tennis centre, selected tennis as the option….only children’s lessons were visible. Logged in online, went to coaching portal, selected adult beginner tennis lessons, selected book, took me to online login, signed in to my account, brought up every kind of court/activity I could hire/book but nothing about lessons. Going round and round in circles. Whoever designed this should be sacked, it’s truly not fit for purpose. ### 2/5 — Good for timetable and booking, terrible otherwise *2023-03-24, version 5.121* At first the app seems ok but I tried to put myself on a waitlist for a class and every time I went to check on it I had been removed from the waitlist. Tried to book online and got a 404 code. £65+ for a monthly membership, they could and should do far better. ### 1/5 — Terrible user experience *2022-12-24, version 5.121* It’s as if this app was designed to confuse and frustrate. This is without doubt the worst ### 1/5 — Not worth a star *2022-07-26, version 5.105* Genuinely one of the worst pieces of software I’ve come across. I used to design software and I would have been sacked for this piece of rubbish. Unusable, lacks synchronisation and will lose Edinburgh customers; which, I might add, applies to the website too. ### 2/5 — Not entirely useless, but nearly… *2022-05-01, version 5.94* Speaking as a software tester of 23 years experience, this app was clearly never tested before launching. It doesn’t ask you to set your password when you create an account, so when you go to book, you find yourself having to faff about to set the password first, and lose your booking. Get password set (phone offers to save it, but saves your membership ID with it, NOT your email address, so you have to then go back and re-enter your email address which had been overwritten.), go back and book again. Doesn’t ever remember your email address, autofill isn’t mapped, so everything has to be entered manually. In other words, zero thought as to the usability of the app! All a bit of a shambles. But I DID eventually manage to book for me and my son. So, not totally useless. Just *nearly* useless… ### 1/5 — Absolutely hopeless app *2022-04-29, version 5.94* I was advised to use the App by one of the Staff on reception as it’s ‘more reliable’ than the website for bookings. It’s hopeless. I’ve changed my Preferred Booking Site from Leith Victoria to Ainslie Park. Guess what happens when I see the Home Screen on the App? Yep it still shows Leith Victoria at the top and when I use the Swim Bookings button it takes me to Leith Victoria to make a booking. I’ve closed the app and restarted it to see if it will change my preferred booking site. It doesn’t. Don’t waste your time with this app, stick to the website. ### 1/5 — Worst app in the world *2022-04-22, version 5.79.1* It’s not user friendly, it goes down frequently and Edinburgh leisure is impossible to actually contact through it. I’ve been sent a notification and there’s no way to open or check it, I’ve given it to three people who are much more tech savvy than me and they are equally stumped. You have to have this to book a round of golf otherwise it would be binned. ### 1/5 — Tried and failed to book a swim *2022-02-13, version 5.50* Appalling experience. I’ve spent all weekend trying to book a swim. Set up PAYG account which then experienced multiple error messages, wonky security questions and then finally locked my account. I’m amazed this passed apple’s usually stringent approval process. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t log on to my account from the app *2026-07-19, version 109.34.1* This app is slow and doesn’t connect to anything. I have an account and it is not recognising it even though I can access it on the website. That’s one of the many faults I keep finding with this app ### 1/5 — Edinburg leisure make using o line services impossible *2026-05-17, version 109.34.1* I’m not sure why? Truly dreadful ### 1/5 — Sadly terrible *2026-04-24, version 109.34.1* Just awful ### 1/5 — 16+ age rating prevents junior members from downloading this app *2025-11-30, version 109.34.1* I have many frustrations with this app, as it’s poorly designed, but my main frustration is, my teenager cannot download it to book junior gym sessions as they are not 16+, even though junior gym sessions are from S1, so from 11 years old. What content does this app have that prevents it from being used by junior members? ### 1/5 — Battery drainer *2025-07-21, version 108.41.1* Having wondered why my iPhone battery has started draining so fast, I checked my battery health stats - the EdinLeisure app is like a battery vampire! ### 1/5 — Awful *2025-06-03, version 108.41.1* Pretty useless. Can’t find a pool timetable. Instead of an update improving this app, it’s regressive. Waste of time ### 1/5 — Hopeless *2025-04-11, version 108.29.1* The app was never great but is now hopeless. Trying to work out when a swimming pool is available to go for a swim is now effectively impossible. ### 1/5 — Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water *2025-04-04, version 108.9.1* Well they have outdone themselves this time updating one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. This update has managed to make a bad app even more useless. Don’t try to find the swim timetable let alone try using it ( unless you have hours to spare ) If ever there was a case of overdoing something to make it worse This would win all day long Love my swimming in the Victorian Pool and wish the Victorians still ran it. ### 1/5 — Absolutely abysmal *2024-12-15, version 107.122.1* It’s just a wrapper around the website, which is already extremely poor. One main issue is not having access to membership card. As needed these days to enter class and gym. Can it be built in to the app please ### 3/5 — Alright, but frustrating *2022-08-08, version 5.112* Works alright. Booking a session is a pain because you need to enter your full card details, it neither remembers them for you or supports PayPal or Apple Pay or whatever. Booking swimming sessions is the only reason I ever need to find my wallet these days… And you can’t cancel a booking without emailing, which takes a few days. You get a refund so it’s fine, but it doesn’t free up the space for other customers. Not my problem I suppose. ### 3/5 — Ok for golf *2020-11-25, version 4.61* Booking for golf is pretty easy, nice golf UI.Slots become available and you can book a slot pretty easily (although not for other members which is unfortunate). Big improvement would be to add the course maps/score cards. Does the job fine otherwise. ### 3/5 — It’s ok but needs work done *2020-01-24, version 4.32* If you use it for the same thing then I guess it’s ok, as you get used to it. But it’s like using a different app if you usually use it to check swim pool timetable, but then want to book a golf tee off time. Drumbrae leisure centre works on it ok to check timetable for when the pool is free, but Ainslie Park doesn’t (iPhone 11). I’ve used it for years for golf and it sorely needs a big update or upgrading because it’s clunky. Took my ages to do something as basic as add a venue to favs, and then could I find them again!? I should easily be able to just see where I can swim right now at all/any venues I input. Instead I have to go in and out of all the venues to check individually. Worst of all, the various venue pages have a different layout 😡 So the space on the page where you intuitively want to touch for “pool times” is top tight for one and bottom left for another, grrrr. ### 3/5 — Very basic app *2019-02-14, version 3.50.1* Ok to book your favourite classes but useless for finding an alternative. No search function (why no?) so you end up looking through every centre to see if there’s anything suitable, that’s after adding each one to your list. Could be so much better. Why can’t you just enter Body combat, for example , and it could list all the classes. Come on EL improve this app. ### 3/5 — So so *2019-01-02, version 3.50.1* This should link to the learning section without having to log in separately. ### 3/5 — Good except for time outs on My Bookings *2018-03-07* Good app and works well for me booking fitness classes and golf times. Unfortunately when I want to review My Bookings it “Request Timed Out” about 99% of the time so I then have to go into each centre or golf course to manage my bookings. So frustrating. Other people complain about same problem. Can you fix this please before adding any more features!? Thanks ### 3/5 — Could do so much more! *2018-02-06* This app is useful for booking/cancelling classes 24hrs a day - it is great for that and planning your week. Where it could be improved: manage more account settings, provide a friends community or a ‘share to whatsapp group’, push notifications for class openings when you’re on a wait list, a button on the app which allows you to take an open position on a wait list, event push notifications (eg closures, change of venue etc) Hoping some ideas are taken on board and improvements made, it’s good, just could be better!! ### 2/5 — Sort it *2026-04-12, version 109.34.1* One of the biggest companies with one of the worst apps. Try and book.. declined, doesn’t remember anything.. useless.. skip the app and just go to normal website which is stuck in the 00s as well but at least works ### 2/5 — Calendar doesn’t load *2025-06-28, version 108.41.1* Regularly in this app, I can only see the current day on the booking calendar.
