### 4/5 — Good

*2025-07-31, version 1.3.4*

I use this software to write letters. It works well: however i cannot adjust the margins. How to?

The internal browser crashes often since iPadOS18. It is a very old browser and there are more sites that are not displayed, so I would like a new browser.

### 5/5 — incredible

*2024-08-01, version 1.3.4*

amazing

### 5/5 — Wish there is a True dark mode

*2024-07-22, version 1.3.4*

Then it’s be perfect

### 4/5 — This app *must* endure

*2024-03-03, version 1.3.4*

March 2024 update: loses a star because, sadly, it does appear to be abandonware 😕

I used Editorial in the past. I just started using it again today, and I had forgotten the ease with which one can create workflows! It is simply indispensable, and I do hope it will never be abandoned by the creator!!

### 3/5 — Does not work with iCloud Drive

*2024-02-08, version 1.3.4*

I'm so bummed. This almost did it. It had what I wanted and it works with my decade old iPad. Like finding a unicorn. BUT I got it to to work with files in my Obsidian folder on iCloud. IT DOES NOT WORK WITH ICLOUD DRIVE! This ONLY works with DropBox and local storage. Drop box login doesn't even work on my old iPad web browser.

### 5/5 — Perfectly Designed, Easy to Use

*2024-02-01, version 1.3.4*

I cannot imagine a more beautiful or well-designed application for working with Markdown files on iOS. Editing, viewing, and exporting documents feels perfectly natural. For mobile devices I can recommend no other editor more highly than I can this one.

### 5/5 — Amazing, Perfect and Full of Surprises

*2024-02-01, version 1.3.4*

I keep forgetting all that Editorial is capable of. I forgot about the snippet/text expansion capabilities for inserting current date and time, and after spending all day looking for an affordable option on iOS… I realized, Oh right, Editorial does THAT too!!! Amazing!

### 5/5 — The most flixible & powerful editor I have found

*2023-12-02, version 1.3.4*

Sorry to see this app die. It has been such a huge help for me I wish I could give it six stars. It has performed flawlessly, and though I mainly used it with Markdown on files stored on Dropbox, I was in it almost daily without a single hiccup. That said, it looks like it is no longer maintained, so I am checking out Obsidian. Joplin also appears to be a very capable (and less fiddly) option with good sync. Both are extensible and multi-platform, if like me you are looking for options.

### 5/5 — Editorial for work

*2023-09-07, version 1.3.4*

Covers a lot of ground. I tailor as many of my organization (of info) tasks as I can to Editorial. Nicely behaved. What I can’t do easily I bounce via Dropbox to my main (Linux) machine. Easy because everything’s in plain text. All thumbs up!

### 5/5 — Perfect TaskPaper editor on iOS

*2023-08-20, version 1.3.4*

I made the move to TaskPaper recently on MacOS and I’ve been searching for a good solution for editing files on iOS. Turns out I bought Editorial some time ago but never really got into it. It’s a fantastic solution for editing TaskPaper files on iOS.

### 5/5 — Still the miracle app

*2023-06-03, version 1.3.4*

Ignore the low reviews, they're out of date – yes the updates are infrequent, but the app is in good shape for new phones.

Check it out, especially Workflows, there's still nothing like it. Play with your docs, is the best way to describe Editorial.

### 5/5 — This app *must* endure

*2023-05-27*

I used Editorial in the past. I just started using it again today, and I had forgotten the ease with which one can create workflows! It is simply indispensable, and I do hope it will never be abandoned by the creator!!

### 4/5 — Fantastic app, but needs iCloud sync

*2023-04-20, version 1.3.4*

I've been using Editorial for years, but stopped with some other apps in my workflow (like iA Writer) started requiring iCloud. I hope more sync options will be available soon, because Editorial is otherwise the best Markdown and TaskPaper app on iOS, even if you don't get into the scripting side of things.

### 5/5 — Fantastic but I would like to have more flexibility for shared file location

*2023-03-09, version 1.3.4*

Fantastic but I would like to have more flexibility for shared file location.

The only shared file location is Dropbox but I would like to be able to use iCloud for storage as well for cross device synchronization.

### 4/5 — Whenever you copy and paste it becomes tedious…

*2023-02-07, version 1.3.4*

Whenever you copy and paste it becomes tedious, with the app constantly repeating the message “text was pasted from”.

Fix that please,

### 5/5 — Just unbelievable!!!

*2022-12-31, version 1.3.4*

I’ve been using this app for years and it’s one of the most complete writing apps out there. The built in preview is awesome too.

It’s just a a fantastic tool for getting your thoughts out of your brain. Thank you to the devs!!!

### 3/5 — Very good, but with a big flaw

*2022-11-02*

For Markdown lovers the app is just amazing. It puts all the symbols you need in your hands and the graphic interface is just smooth and elegant. However, it does not let you save or export the files in a comfortable manner. The only ‘external’ folder you can set for storing the files is by linking your Dropbox account and the locally saved files are not in the ‘File’ folder of the phone. More, export obliges you to switch to html or pure txt; what as the use of using .md files then!??!

### 5/5 — Nie ma lepszej aplikacji do plików txt

*2022-10-23, version 1.3.4*

To na prawdę wspaniała i wszechstronna aplikacja, szkoda tylko, że tak rzadko aktualizowana

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dead software?

*2024-08-05, version 1.3.4*

Hey, loved this, but there are dead links in the docs. Looked here, noticed this hasn’t been touched in 4 years. Push out an update that fixes things and I’ll revise

### 1/5 — No longer supported

*2021-09-17, version 1.3.4*

I used this for several years and found it quite useful and reliable. I never used the Markdown capabilities. Lately however I found it no longer worked well with Dropbox. It would sometimes take five minutes to create a new file or open an existing one.
I have switched to Note Master, which I’ve only used for a few days, but like much better. It’s worth the small cost for the full version.

### 1/5 — Don’t go with this one

*2021-08-19, version 1.3.4*

There’s a lot of other alternatives to this app, with better support and frequent updates.

Shame. Editorial was good a few years ago. Nowadays it seems to be all but abandoned.

Don’t charge money for apps you are not actively keeping updated.

### 1/5 — Apparently abandoned (RIP)

*2021-06-01, version 1.3.4*

Until today, Editorial was in my Dock. Anything I wanted to write, Editorial was a matter of muscle memory.

The last update was a year ago, the developer tweeted that maintaining the app was overwhelming him, and most of the support forum has been deleted.

Now that iOS/iPadOS notifies the source and destination of pastes (version 14, nine months as I write), every tap, keystroke, and move to another app after you paste anything pops up the same notification.

It's too bad. It's a loss.

### 1/5 — Can’t sync with iCloud!

*2021-04-04, version 1.3.4*

It’s 2021 and an text editor can’t sync with iCloud?? Seriously?

### 1/5 — I like the app but no updates

*2020-12-08, version 1.3.4*

When we will see an update?

### 1/5 — super Programm aber kaum Weiterentwicklung

*2020-10-18*

Leider immer noch keine Möglichkeit auf externe Dateien zuzugreifen - ausser Dropbox :-(

### 1/5 — A good app but needs iCloud support

*2020-09-23, version 1.3.4*

This is a good app with a very nice editing experience. The file management side needs a little work though. It has Dropbox and on phone storage - no iCloud option. If it had iCloud support I would give it 5 stars - lack of iCloud support is something so major I have knocked 2 stars off.

### 1/5 — Porcaria

*2020-09-15*

Só salva em txt; não tem opção em português.

Você vai perder dinheiro com esse lixo

### 1/5 — Sync with Dropbox other then default folder not working

*2020-03-30, version 1.3.4*

Sync issues and took forever to come out with a version for iPhone X and then sync is broken

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So good .. sad development has stopped

*2026-08-10, version 1.3.4*

This is software as it should be
Simple and effective to start and with an open door to tinkering workflows
Thank you 😀

### 5/5 — Great editing app

*2026-07-26, version 1.3.4*

Finding this app easy to use for editing markdown files, has a contents function hidden away, but lacks a viewer to see the end result without the formatting. I use an ancient iPad 2 Mini, so very few choices with viewers like this.
That being said, this app is very functional and useable on my old iPad mini. Recommended this one!

### 5/5 — Cool

*2026-01-06*

Leider ohne Updates mehr …

### 5/5 — Amazing, Perfect and Full of Surprises

*2025-12-04, version 1.3.4*

I keep forgetting all that Editorial is capable of. I forgot about the snippet/text expansion capabilities for inserting current date and time, and after spending all day looking for an affordable option on iOS… I realized, Oh right, Editorial does THAT too!!! Amazing!

### 5/5 — Excellent editor, unfortunately abandoned

*2025-11-10*

Editorial has, to me, the best text editor interface. Better than iA, iWriter Pro, or One Markdown. The side panels are smoothly togglable with gestures. The outline popover works as it should. And the text style and visual rhythm are spot on.

Alas, it doesn't support iCloud Drive and therefore I cannot use it to edit markdown files synced across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The app is not updated anymore, abandoned, living in a limbo of unfulfilled glory.

### 5/5 — I am so excited

*2025-09-29*

I don’t think I can adequately express my enthusiasm in words. Snippets are already a cool thing in themselves. Snippets with calculated variables are great. Workflows where you can even use Python are simply fantastic.

The fact that it is also a very practical Markdown editor is simply amazing.

I’m still looking for the catch in all this. I’ve probably just sold my soul without even realising it.

### 5/5 — Still good!

*2025-09-24, version 1.3.4*

Not gonna lie, I’d love an update. But this still has features modern apps don’t have.

### 5/5 — Impressionante

*2025-03-24*

Não esperada nada dele mas botou até o Notion e Obsidian no chinelo. Parabéns aos desenvolvedores.

### 5/5 — Love the features so far

*2024-11-24, version 1.3.4*

Cant believe I didnt check out this app sooner

### 5/5 — It is a very cool editing software.

*2024-09-11, version 1.3.4*

Editorial solves the problem that Apple Notes does not support Markdown Language. Allows me to copy Microsoft Copilot answers and paste them into Apple Notes to display the correct format by copying the Editorial preview. It is a very productive editing software.
