Updated my os but the app still crashes quickly. Not sure what is going on. ### 2/5 — Empty *2026-07-14* A pretty empty paper. Sports department is decimated. No investigative journalism. ### 3/5 — Once a Good Paper *2026-07-10* The Journal gets thinner and less informative with each passing month. The sports section has no standings or stats; the Monday paper has no local news-I read it in five minutes. And the price keeps going up. Yet I get a message that I have too many devices signed up and content locked, even when signed in. How did that happen? No idea why access is limited or what I get for my money. Journal has struggled for years to adapt to online world, and they’ve created a convoluted product. UODATE: I have more or less got used to it. But I hate how easy it is to launch some alternate Press Reader universe without actual newspaper design. That would be a good thing, I suppose, so long as it could spell McDavid with a cap D and include apostrophes. Which it can’t. ### 4/5 — Love just a small glitch *2021-05-02, version 4.11.11* I love reading the Journal. I read it daily. I especially love the optimized option that gives a larger type and you do not have to go to another page to read the whole story. I love the comment section after every story in the optimized option, where you an read others comment, add your own comment, and you can add a like it or dump emoji. The only glitch is sometimes the optimized option blanks and you have to finish reading in the normal layout of a paper. ### 2/5 — Review of EJ *2021-03-29, version 4.11.11* I’m I’m nothggffhytfnmhdfjkj ### 3/5 — They cannot seem to help me *2021-03-04, version 4.11.11* I have an older iPad and receive my paper daily without a problem. The trouble is with my second user. Every since my wife got her new iPad she can not use the app to download the paper to her iPad. No one seems capable of helping us. It could be us because we are older and not that savvy with technology. ### 4/5 — EPaper *2021-02-27, version 4.11.11* I enjoy reading the paper in electronic format. However, quite frequently the read mode does not work when I click on a highlighted article heading. Thanks ### 3/5 — Unstable platform with way too many issues *2021-02-26, version 4.11.11* I have been an ePaper user for years. The platform has a tendency to crash regularly and they just don’t fix the bugs. There have been issues with comments which disappear or reset. Then there are the screw ups with the comments not corresponding with the story. This is the newest screw up. The worst part there zero customer support with no ability to give feedback when issues arise ### 3/5 — Perpetual Issues on iPad Mini *2021-02-20, version 4.11.11* App hangs often in Optimized Reading mode. With the latest ver 4.11.11 update, we can no longer reduce the reading font to a reasonable size in Optimized Reading mode. The smallest font (probably size 11) is way too large for the iPad Mini. ### 2/5 — App Fails Frequently in Optimized Reading Mode *2020-12-03, version 4.9.16* There appears to be a compatible issue with the ePaper app and iPads in general. When using the ePaper optimize mode the screen goes blank. I contacted ePaper support and was advised to delete the paper issue I was viewing and download it again. That didn’t solve the problem but I discovered what did work was to reboot my iPad. But it only solves the problem for a short while and then the optimize reading mode screen goes blank again. We have more than one iPad in our family and the problem happens consistently on all of our iPads when using the ePaper app. This is very annoying since we will be well into reading an article and the optimize mode will fail leaving us hanging and having to find our place in the article in the page mode to finish the article. Don’t waste your time with this app ### 1/5 — Doonesbury axed *2022-11-27* Why was Doonesbury axed from the Journal?? This paper has been progressive declining with greatly reduced hard news, but getting rid of Doonesbury and the Saturday comics was the final straw. I’m cancelling. Can get by easily without it. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste $ buying this *2022-03-06* This app is garbage, costs $10.95 per month and it hasn’t worked since February 2. No updates as to why it doesn’t work. A joke right? ### 1/5 — Calgary Herald satellite *2022-01-24* The decision of post media news to move head office to Calgary is regrettable. The coverage of Edmonton news has suffered. At times it seems that the Journal has become a satellite of the Herald - many of the stories originate in the Calgary news room even if they are stories about something happening at the legislature. I am not interested in hearing from Braid, a longstanding CGY herald columnist. The Conservative flavour of the Journal is a step in the wrong direction...Edmonton is not a conservative place. I know that the Journal is not the only paper that has suffered..all newspapers are threatened by the digital crunch but .....the solution that Postmedia news has arrived at re the Journal is disappointing. ### 1/5 — Another zero star review *2021-11-27* This app is crap. Love the idea of it, but constantly kicks me off or doesn’t accept by subscription. Very frustrating. Have spent a few months worth of subscription trying to get it to work. Paper is literally getting smaller and smaller. My husband used to love figuring out the Crossword, but now finds it very hard as the answers are so ambiguous! Come on, some answers are three words long! And you got rid of our favourite comics and have some that are really not funny. And why are the 4 pages of comics in Saturday’s papers gone? Just gone! We believe you are trying to attract a younger audience, but come on - they get their news online, so your goal now is to ignore or tee off your loyal base? If that is a problem to balance things out read other publications that support your point of view. Long live journalism. I have not had cable for years now. I last watched the news on TV about 20 years ago. I go on the internet when I want get an idea of what is going on.
