I particularly liked how it took a rather sinister and gruesome turn towards the end, although the ending was an extremely abrupt missed opportunity. It had the potential to be a real head fk but it was meh. That’s where the star was lost. Worth a play. ### 5/5 — No bugs..... just stoopid players including me!😝 *2019-02-02, version 1.2* Well I couldn’t stab the foot with the knife and after consulting a web page and also the reviews for this game was told it was an unpassable glitch. So after really enjoying this game I was gutted as I put it away and spent the next month thinking that was that. Today I try again no luck but in a last minute decision I tried out another walkthrough, this one was different and mentioned changing menu choices.... I couldn’t believe it when it worked. Things need to be done in the right order there are no glitches! A bit too tedious with the dialogue. But good. Then near the end there are a few bugs (stabbing Beeman’s foot with a fork, rearranging the menu), which is frustrating. Took me a long time to beat it. Make sure to save after Edna escaped her bedroom near the ending when Edna is sending Harvey to check up on the father downstair. For some of the puzzles, I really needed a walkthrough to figure them out, but most of the time I could do it on my own. That didn't make the game worse at all for me. Recommended purchase ### 4/5 — Fun little adventure, though some parts seem walkthrough-only *2014-06-23, version 1.1* This is a classic adventure game in every respect, very long and well acted with a lot to explore and do, with great art to round it out. The biggest downside is that it's not very fair at all, lots of hair-pulling moments, but it's high quality, and while it does crash from time to time, the autosave always puts you right back where you left off, and I didn't run into any constant problems. It's chock-full of silly lines and sillier achievements, and basically 99% of every possible action is fully voice-acted by the main characters. There's hours of dialogue here! Unfortunately, after a while I started getting tired of Edna & Harvey's extremely dorky jokes, given how much there is to do and how long the game is. Like I said, you're in for lots of hair-pulling for puzzles that hardly make any sense. There are lots of fun little digs at classic adventure games and tropes, but nearly every other puzzle is a stumper, making this a game that falls squarely into the same tropes. I still look forward to the next games, because I had fun despite it all. ### 5/5 — Just brilliant *2014-06-13, version 1.1* Dark, twisted and funny. Totally addictive and immersive. I wish there was as sequel to play NOW! So great when you stumble across a game like this. Totally worth the money as the game was pretty hard at times and you get no hints. However, after hours of investment in playing, and just when I had finally reached the denouement, the game crashes!! Repeatedly! Very frustrating, to say the least. Tried every crash fix I could think of short of reinstalling, as I didn't want to start all over again. This could just be my device, though. I was playing it on a 1st Gen iPad. Hopefully others have more luck. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Huge bug- can not get past the first scene anymore. *2022-03-05, version 1.2* I have a feeling that the developers updated the game recently to allow easier access to inventory items. Unfortunately, you can not progress past the first chapter - the padded room. It only allows one slash per pad. As a result, you can not exit the room. This is literally the first action of the game beyond the initial prologue. I double checked with a walk through. The inventory appeared different - hence my thoughts that the game has been updated. I am always hesitant to pay upfront for a game. I always appreciate a developer offering a couple of chapters for free so the player can see if the game suits their taste. I am more than willing to pay for a game that I like. I always jump on board to buy every game that is then released by that developer in the same genre. I will stay away from developers that peddle a flawed product. This was a waste of money. I love how childish the art is but how it’s also so dark and creepy. Edna is someone who is flawed but also makes us root for her. The game play is hard to figure out sometimes so I needed a walkthrough when I got stuck. Anyway, this game is one of the very best iPad Point & Click game ports I've played and that's saying a lot. It's one of the finest in almost every way, with one caveat (mentioned at the end of this review), including its story, brilliantly funny dialogue, charming graphics, superb voice acting, and many creative, tough, and wacky problems to solve. This is one of just a few out of hundreds of games where I would award nine out of ten (not five) stars if I could. I won't lavish praise beyond this because, if you believe me, you will want to try it for yourself if you love Point & Click Adventures - You won't regret it! Okay, the caveat is that you will most likely need to use an online walkthrough at least several times during the game since excellent wackiness doesn't always invite intuitiveness into the picture ;-) The game's lack of a good hint system is why I did not fantasize about giving it ten (instead of nine) stars.
