## What is Edock?

Some people move smoothly through the education system. They score well, sit for placements, and step into stable jobs. The system is built for them, and for many, it works.

But there’s another group of people who don’t quite fit the mold. Curious, capable, but out of sync with rigid curricula paths. These learners are pushed into teaching themselves.

Self-learning sounds empowering, until you’re actually inside it.

You’re surrounded by endless tutorials, opinions, courses, and advice. Everyone claims a different “right” way. The internet offers abundance, but little clarity. What to learn. In what order. From whom. And how to know whether you’re even progressing.

That confusion is the real problem and Edock was born from this gap. Through research and experimentation, one insight became clear: effective self-learning rests on three pillars: Community, Resources, and Roadmap.

- Community (Learning needs people, not just content): Peers help validate understanding, challenge assumptions, and offer perspectives no tutorial can. Mentors emerge naturally. Accountability forms without pressure. Learning becomes a shared journey rather than a solitary struggle.

- Resources (Quality over quantity): Resources are not just videos, articles, or notes. They are curated, contextual, and relevant learning inputs.

- Roadmap (Direction turns effort into progress): Roadmaps turn vague goals into achievable steps. They help learners avoid common traps like jumping too far ahead or getting stuck in endless basics.

Edock doesn’t try to replace teachers, institutions, or self-motivation. It fills the space in between.

By combining Community for support, Resources for clarity, and Roadmaps for direction, Edock helps self-learners move from confusion to confidence.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.17 — 2026-09-20

• Announce: every community now has a room, above Chats, where any member can tell everyone something once a month — and the room can answer in a thread. It arrives muted; a bell turns it on.
• Ask & Offers: write a card straight into the board the way you write a message, search it, and see what it holds. It reads bottom-up, like a chat.
• A link to a community you are in now opens it in Communities, and a community that has blocked you says so wherever you open it.

### 1.3.16 — 2026-09-19

• Ask & Offers: every community now has a board, under Chats, where people post what they need and what they can give — and answer each other in a thread.
• Opening a community you have not joined now shows you the community — what it is for, who is in it, the last thing said there and the next meetup — instead of a menu with nothing under it.
• Shared links land where they point, and Events are called Meetups now. Every link already shared still opens the same screen.

### 1.3.15 — 2026-09-18

• On Android phones with back, home and recents buttons, nothing sits under that bar any more — on every screen.
• Sending a message with words that may upset people now asks you first and shows what it found, instead of refusing to send it.
• Replying opens the keyboard straight away, so you can start typing.
• Online events say "Virtual" instead of "TBD".

### 1.3.14 — 2026-09-15

• Some events now ask you to request a spot. You get a notification and an email when the host decides, and on paid events you pay once you're approved.
• Events can ask for your phone number or LinkedIn profile when you register.
• Hosts can approve or decline requests right in the app, with a reason when they decline.

### 1.3.13 — 2026-09-09

• Profiles have been rebuilt. Tap someone's picture anywhere in the app for a cleaner page that now shows their status, position, company and the communities you share.
• Events you registered for on the web now appear in the app after you sign in, including when you sign in with your phone number.
• Event times now show on the right clock wherever you are.
• Community chats have one settings menu, and a filtered list now says which filter is on.
• Chat rooms no longer look empty while they are still loading, and they open on your most recent messages.
• Error messages now read like sentences instead of technical detail.
