Worse, I went to remove my payment method entirely so they couldn’t charge me again, and the app doesn’t even let you do that — the card is essentially locked in place as long as the “membership” exists. This feels like a deliberate dark pattern to trap users into recurring payments they can’t escape. I’ve used other travel booking apps for years and never encountered anything this hostile to the customer. And the price was phenomenal. I have been looking for tickets for the last few days, using multiple methods, and only found tickets that were exorbitantly priced. Today, I bought a ticket a third of the price that I was considering a day earlier. For the first time in my life, I booked flights through a third-party provider, eDreams, and the problems began before I had even left Australia. I paid eDreams for checked luggage, but when I arrived at Sydney Airport, the airline had no record of it. I had to pay hundreds of dollars again just to take my bag with me. The return journey was even worse. Before leaving Australia, I paid around $400 to move my return flight back by one week. After arriving in Bali, I discovered that the change had never been completed. I spent four days calling eDreams, and they repeatedly assured me that I had a valid booking. They eventually sent me a confirmation designed to look as though it had come from the airline, but when I arrived at Bali Airport, the airline told me the devastating truth: I had no reservation, no valid ticket and no seat on the flight. The confirmation was fake. I was refused boarding and left stranded at Bali Airport in the middle of the night, acutely unwell after needing medication and an IV drip. Even after the eDreams representative spoke directly with the airline staff and was told that no ticket existed, eDreams refused to arrange another flight. They told me to contact the airline and sort it out myself. They offered no practical assistance and refused to provide an immediate refund. With no way home and no help from the company that had taken my money, I was forced to purchase a last-minute replacement flight for around $1,200. What should have been a simple holiday became days of phone calls, stress and thousands of dollars in unexpected costs. I had never booked a flight through a third-party provider before, and after my experience with eDreams, I will never do it again.
