## What is eGeez?

eGeez turns learning the Geez alphabet into an adventure.

Anbessa the lion cub guides children along a journey through all 33
letter families and 231 letters of the fidel - the script used by
Amharic and Tigrinya. Every letter is voiced by a real human recording.

FOR KIDS
- A winding journey with exactly one next step - no menus to get lost in
- Six mini-games per letter family: pop bubbles, trace letters, feed
  Anbessa, outsmart Jibby the hyena
- 3D adventures: Letter Runner across Lalibela, Aksum, the Simien
mountains and Gondar, and Fidel Skylands floating islands
- A Daily Letter Hunt, streaks, and a treasure gift every day
- Dress Anbessa in hats, scarves and capes earned by learning

FOR FAMILIES
- Family Voice: a grandparent anywhere in the world can record the
letters in their own voice for your child
- Voice postcards and share cards to celebrate milestones
- The whole app works offline after the first download - perfect for
travel and for keeping kids off the internet
- App text in English, Amharic, Tigrinya, German, French, Italian,
  Dutch, Swedish and Norwegian

FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
- A parents dashboard (behind a grown-up gate) with letter mastery,
  trouble letters and practice tips
- A full teacher mode: term plans, homework links over WhatsApp, a TV
chant board for the classroom - no accounts needed

PRIVACY FIRST
- No ads. No accounts. No data collection. Everything stays on the
device. The only things that ever leave it are the cards and files a
  grown-up explicitly shares.

## Version history (last 2 of 2)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-11

A big update: a new look, six new games, and the whole cast redrawn.
NEW LOOK
- A warm "manuscript" theme - gold letters on deep ink, with tibeb
borders - across every screen, in both night and daylight modes.
- Anbessa, Kokeb and Jibby are now hand-drawn characters that appear
in the games, not just on the home path.
SIX NEW GAMES IN THE BACKPACK
- Kokeb's Bingo - play solo, or a whole class plays together.
- Merkato Market - read Ge'ez numeral prices and pay with coins.
- Word Workshop - build real words from letter tiles.
- Match, Line Up and Order - three quick card games for the vowel
  orders.
SOUND AND FEEL
- A gentle piano cue palette: no buzzers, no jarring noises.
- Poppier bubbles, livelier skies, and smoother play on older phones.
FOR TEACHERS
- A class roster, homework assignments that arrive on the child's
device, and a reminder on the day they are due.
FOR GROWN-UPS
- Shareable Progress Cards so family can see what a child has learned.
- Fixes: "Reset all progress" now works immediately, and several
places where a child could get stuck mid-task are gone.
eGeez is free to download. After a 3-day free trial you can buy the
app once - and every family still gets 5 free minutes of everything,
every single day.
