Use DB Navigator instead

Now that I’m terribly surprised, but registering for this app has not been possible for me. As a traveler with a non-German mobile phone number there’s no way to successfully log in.

Creating an account via the VGN website was possible, but after logging into the app with those credentials there is only a somewhat cryptically worded dash screen stating that either this app or another VGN one will be discontinued soon. Pressing “continue” only leads to an “invalid data” response.

A family member was able to register the app on their phone (German SIM), but they were not under the impression that the check in feature when entering a train had worked as expected since no past or completed rides were showing.

Classic German public IT unfortunately: Cumbersome interfaces and random restrictions. How do you expect visitors to pay for public transport if you are making it impossible for them to log in?

Response from developer

Hallo. Since January 14th, egon has been integrated into the "VGN Fahrplan & Tickets" app. You should be able to log in there without any problems. With the old egon system, the last check-in was possible on January 30th.
