## What is Eidetic?

The passwords, the codes, the number someone read out to you on the phone. Eidetic keeps them on your iPhone and gets them back when you need them.

WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU MUST NOT FORGET
A password, a PIN, an IBAN, the address of a place. You write it and it stays there, in an archive encrypted with AES-256 that never leaves the phone.

FIND IT WITH ONE WORD
Type a word you remember. Search covers everything you saved, not only the latest items, and it is free without limits.

FROM SCREENSHOTS TOO
Save a screenshot and the text inside is read on your iPhone: from then on you find it by searching a word, and you can reopen the original image.

SHARE → EIDETIC
From Photos, from Safari, from any app: send Eidetic a screenshot, some text or a link and save it without copy and paste. The app shows you what is about to go into the archive before it writes anything.

SEND A LIST WORTH LOOKING AT
Places for the weekend, gift ideas, recipes to try: pick what to send and it goes as a page — an image, or a PDF when it runs to several pages. Readable with or without Eidetic.

EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE
No account, no cloud, no data collection. Search, text recognition and AI all run on the device. Notifications never show what you wrote, and the archive is kept out of iCloud backups too.

ENCRYPTED BACKUP
From Settings you can export the archive to a file protected by a password you choose, to move it to another iPhone.

REMINDERS
Eidetic spots dates in what you write and offers to remind you.

PREMIUM (optional)
A one-sentence answer over the memories a search found, computed on your iPhone. Underneath the answer are the memories it came from, with the exact text you saved. Requires a one-time 2.9 GB download. Writing and searching stay free for everyone.

No account also means no password recovery: lose the phone without a backup and the archive is gone. That is the price of keeping it only with you.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-07

Eidetic 1.2 does two things better: it understands how people actually search, and it no longer makes you leave the app to save something.

• SEARCH THE WAY YOU TALK. "That restaurant in Rome with the terrace" now finds the trattoria you saved, even though you wrote "trattoria". Question words are ignored, singular and plural are the same word, and a short list of near-equivalents widens the search without pushing down the word you actually wrote.

• SHARE → EIDETIC. From Photos, from Safari, from any app: send a screenshot, some text or a link to Eidetic and save it without copy and paste. The app opens and shows you what is about to go into the archive — nothing is called saved before it is.

• SEND A LIST WORTH LOOKING AT. Places for the weekend, gift ideas, recipes to try: pick what to send and it goes as a page — an image, or a PDF when it runs to several pages. Readable with or without Eidetic.

• THE AI ANSWER SHOWS ITS SOURCES. Underneath the answer are the memories it came from, with the exact text you saved and a button to copy it — because a password that is nearly right is worse than no answer. If nothing you saved is relevant, it says so instead of answering from whatever was nearest.

• NOTHING LEAVES THE PHONE, NOT EVEN IN BACKUPS. The archive is encrypted, but the key travelled in the iCloud backup alongside it. Eidetic now keeps both out. To move it to another iPhone, use the password-protected export in Settings.

• NOTHING REACHES THE LOGS. The device console used to receive the search query, the text of the matched memories, and the answer as it was written. Now it receives nothing.

• THE ARCHIVE DOES NOT OPEN BY ITSELF. Face ID being unavailable is no longer a reason to let anyone in: the iPhone passcode remains the fallback, and where there is no protection at all the app explains how to turn it on instead of opening.

• THE SCREEN NO LONGER SITS IN THE APP SWITCHER. And a copied password stays on this device and expires by itself.

• THE EXAMPLE SAYS IT IS AN EXAMPLE. And goes away in one tap.

The passwords and notes you already had stay where they were.

### 1.1.6 — 2026-09-05

Eidetic goes back to doing well the thing it is for: keeping what you must not forget, and getting it back.

• JUST SEARCH. Search covers everything you saved, not only the latest items, and it is free without limits. Before, it stopped at the five most recent memories and asked for payment after five questions.

• PRIVATE NOTIFICATIONS. Notifications no longer show a piece of what you wrote, so a password never lands on the lock screen. Notifications scheduled by earlier versions are rewritten on first launch.

• NO AUTOMATIC UNLOCK. If Face ID was unavailable the app used to open by itself. Now it always asks, with the iPhone passcode as the fallback, and the archive stays closed until you decide.

• FROM SCREENSHOTS TOO. Save a screenshot: the text inside is read on your iPhone and the picture stays with it, reopenable at full resolution.

• SEND A LIST TO A FRIEND. Pick what to share, drop what you would rather not, send it as plain text. They don't need to install anything.

• PLAIN WORDS. "Vault" became "Memories", "Capture" became "Add", and the lock screen no longer talks about sealing a pact.

• EASIER TO READ. Grey text brought up to contrast standards, bigger buttons that always show their label, every icon named for VoiceOver, and background animation now respects Reduce Motion.

• FASTER. Search uses an index inside the encrypted archive instead of re-reading everything each time.

• A shorter start: one screen instead of six.

The passwords and notes you already had stay where they are, and can now be found by searching a word.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-31

• Clearer, safer purchases: prices always come from the App Store in your own currency, the plan you tap is exactly the plan you buy, and if something goes wrong we now tell you instead of leaving you with a silent button.

• "Restore purchase" now tells apart "this Apple ID owns nothing" from "the restore failed" — no more false alarms.

• The Neural Core has more memory to work with: fewer unexpected quits while it composes an answer on busier devices.

• We check free space before the Neural Core download starts, so you find out right away instead of three gigabytes later.

• Download errors are now explained in your own language.

• Requires iOS 16.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-24

• Faster Cold Storage: exporting and importing your vault no longer freezes the interface while encrypting.

• Simplified input bar: dictation now uses the iOS keyboard, available in every language.

• The Neural Core download can now be dismissed at any time and resumes exactly where it left off.

• Refined animations and haptics: fading biometric unlock, smooth progress bar.

• Stability fixes.
