## What is EidKit App?

EidKit allows Romanian citizens and organizations to interact with the new Electronic Identity Card (CEI) directly from their iPhone using NFC technology.
What you can do:
Read your identity data
Hold your iPhone near your Romanian identity card to securely read your personal data — name, date of birth, address, photo, and handwritten signature. Your address is stored exclusively on the card chip and is no longer printed on the back of the physical card — EidKit gives you instant access to it.
Sign documents
Sign PDF documents using the cryptographic key stored on your identity card chip. The signature is legally valid under Romanian Law 214/2024 for private contracts, employment agreements, rental contracts, and commercial documents.
Authenticate securely
Verify your identity using your card's chip via challenge-response authentication — the strongest form of identity verification available for Romanian citizens.
Privacy first
All operations happen entirely on your device. No personal data is transmitted to any server. Your identity stays yours.
Requirements:

Romanian Electronic Identity Card (CEI) issued from 2021 onwards
iPhone 7 or later with NFC capability
Your card's CAN number (printed on the front) and PIN
