## What is Eitango?

Eitango is a drill for English vocabulary, built for people who read Japanese. It shows one word at a time. You say whether you remembered it, and spaced repetition decides when you see it again.

WHAT IS INSIDE

- All 7,801 entries of the CEFR-J Wordlist Version 1.6, compiled by Yukio Tono at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, in its four levels: A1 (1,166), A2 (1,411), B1 (2,445) and B2 (2,779)
- The part of speech the list gives for every entry, so a word listed as both a noun and a verb comes up as two cards
- A Japanese meaning for 7,654 of the entries
- A Listen button that reads the word aloud with the US English voice on your device
- Spaced repetition with six boxes; words you miss come back in the same session
- Progress by level, and a day count you are free to ignore

The Japanese meanings come from EJDict (ejdict-hand) by kujirahand, placed in the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal, and, where EJDict has no entry, from the Japanese edition of Wiktionary in the machine-readable extraction published by kaikki.org, used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. The levels are those of the CEFR-J, which are not the levels of any English proficiency test. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the organisers of any English test.
