### 5/5 — Just as good as getting the real paper delivered

*2021-11-13, version 32.59*

And far less hassle

### 5/5 — Love reading the paper on my iPad.

*2021-10-22, version 32.59*

I love being able to pick up my iPad & easily click on the PJS app. I can easily get to any part of the paper I want to read- and there are no papers to have to recycle!

### 5/5 — Best way to read the ‘paper’

*2021-08-27, version 32.59*

In addition to the Journal-Star, I also subscribe to the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune electronically. This is by far the best reading app of the three - easy to navigate and to search.

### 5/5 — eJournal Star

*2021-07-23, version 32.59*

I wasn’t sure about reading the paper via app, but went on vacation and tried it on the iPad. Awesome. Just tap on the story or item you wish to see (even comics) and it comes up clearly on the other half of the screen. This is with the iPad held horizontally in landscape orientation.

### 5/5 — Newspaper at my fingertips

*2021-07-14, version 32.59*

I was reluctant to pay for the newspaper app, but I’m glad I did. I know am able to look at local news daily. I wish it had an archive section incase I wanted to reference back to something.

### 5/5 — PJS App

*2021-05-09, version 32.59*

I like the new setup! Reminds me of reading the original paper. It’s sad that technology is taking that away. But, since I don’t live in Peoria, this is the way to go. Thanks!

### 5/5 — PJS

*2021-03-09, version 32.59*

I really like this electronic paper! Very easy to flip through and read the articles of choice. Huge improvement! Kudos to the PJS for implementing this easy to read version. The Parade on Sunday is an added bonus. Great job!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-03-06, version 32.59*

I am able to enjoy my paper early and through all weather conditions.

### 5/5 — App review

*2020-12-02, version 4.9.44*

Everything is well laid out and easy to navigate between the pages, stories and day to day.

### 5/5 — Works Well

*2020-07-27, version 4.9.44*

I stopped taking the printed version when the rates became so much higher. I find the app great to navigate. The only thing I do miss is the Sunday ads!

### 5/5 — Online only

*2020-07-05, version 4.9.44*

Have only had issues once since switching to online only. While I miss paging through the paper ads on Sunday, I seldom used enough to justify the expense or waste.

**Developer response:** Give our app another try – we should have this bug fixed.

### 4/5 — PJS app review

*2020-06-18, version 4.9.44*

The app loads quickly and is easy to use. Index to find different pages works well. I have very poor vision and appreciate the ability to resize pages. However I have trouble seeing the resize icon. Very good app

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No more USA Today

*2021-12-02, version 35.07*

Before this recent update iPad users were able to read the USAToday Newspaper as a bonus but now it is no longer there! Why? Very frustrating to have that ability for a long time then have it taken away. Seems like we are getting less and less content.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2020-04-08, version 4.9.44*

I subscribe to two major national newspapers. I pay less for those two papers combined than I do for the eJournal Star alone. The apps of both of the national newspapers work almost without fail. The eJournal Star app works maybe 50% of the time. I want to support our local newspaper but since I can’t read it I am beginning to think about canceling.

### 2/5 — Terrible Sports

*2022-06-14, version 35.07*

Your sports section keeps going down hill. Truthfully I’m not sure why I keep taking the Star. I guess I’m hopeful that enough people will complain or quit taking the paper to force you to get your paper back to the way to was.

### 3/5 — E journal star

*2021-12-08, version 35.07*

We have struggled with audio version for months finally seems to work my husband can now start the paper without assistance and is so happy

### 3/5 — Review

*2020-05-27, version 4.9.44*

It’s sad to pick up a paper and immediately know if the owners or Democrats or Republicans. Good journalism is a thing of the past. I mainly get the digital for obits and comics. Local news, too as long as it’s not political. Like the opinion page but do know many are turned away because they don’t have the right opinion.

### 4/5 — Peoria Journal Star

*2022-11-23, version 36.24*

Enjoy the ability to read the paper at my leisure. I can enlarge the print size to suit my needs.

### 4/5 — Works Well

*2022-09-27, version 36.24*

I like the app generally. Sometimes it makes me re-log into the paper which is a bit frustrating. But overall its easy to use and available early in the morning. Which I like

### 4/5 — Digital changes

*2021-10-09, version 32.59*

Recent changes are better and easier to use. Wold hope that Sunday will be available earlier -say at 0600.

### 4/5 — Great Way to Read Local News

*2021-03-10, version 32.59*

I started using this app as a way to cut down on too much waste paper in my home and then in the recycling bin. It’s basically the very same as the newspaper itself, except one doesn’t get ink all over themselves while reading it. I find it a quick, easy solution to keeping up with local events.

### 4/5 — E edition

*2021-01-13, version 4.9.44*

Didn’t think I’d like it, and I didn’t so much in the past. But the time had come. So, I’m enjoying the ease and availability, plus the extra USA Today features are great too.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love It

*2023-04-02*

I started using the PJS app when I saw it was $1 a month for 6 months and expected to drop it when the time expired, but I really enjoy reading the paper on my iPad. I’m keeping it!

### 5/5 — PJS

*2023-02-11, version 36.24*

Electronic app is easy to use and complete. A great way to keep in touch after moving out of state.

### 5/5 — Enjoy digital

*2023-01-31, version 36.24*

I enjoy reading on my device, and printing the puzzles.

### 5/5 — Works for me.

*2022-12-24, version 36.24*

This app does what it’s supposed to do. The paper version was great but times are changing.

### 5/5 — Easy to navigate!

*2022-11-18, version 36.24*

The app is easy to navigate and set up in a very user friendly way!

### 5/5 — PJS doesn’t represent Central I’ll

*2022-05-31, version 35.07*

The Peoria journal star is way too liberal!! Central Illinois is conservative. The slant of EVERY article cuts conservatives down with fake news!! It’s pitiful how you can’t report any and all the good things Trump did.

### 5/5 — Enjoying the online version

*2022-05-14, version 35.07*

I like having the full online version of the journal star.

### 5/5 — Way better than delivery

*2022-04-12, version 35.07*

I’ve been using the app every day for the last couple years - I love it! It has the same
format of the physical paper, which I like way better than online news sites. It’s much cheaper than getting a physical paper. There’s less local content than previously in the Journal Star, but that’s not a problem with the app. Have been trying to turn my arenas and others on to subscribing online.

### 5/5 — USA today is a liberal rag

*2022-01-03, version 35.07*

Across central Illinois the galesburg Register Mail, Bloomington Pantagraph and Journal Star have silenced their local voices.
If you read the first section of any of these papers you will see the slant towards their style of politics.
I honestly believe a group of us should’ve bought the Galesburg register Mail building before they tore the printing presses out so that we could preserved a fair voice to the public.

### 5/5 — Very user friendly

*2021-12-02, version 35.07*

I like the way you can peruse the paper page by page like a real paper then click the article you want to read. The article pops up in a very user friendly readable format on my phone. I even can print the crossword puzzle. Nicely done!
