That said, reliability is a bit of an issue. It’s frustrating when it “ignores” button presses. It’s more frustrating when it won’t connect to the ISY at all, particularly after a router power cycle/power failure (though this may be an ISY issue - I simply don’t have the time of the means to diagnose and isolate it to one or the other, but cycling network access on the ISY resolves it. Damned difficult to do when not on site, though…) And the Apple Watch app. I really miss it. Was great to have that ease of access, but apparently too great a burden on the developers to keep it alive. It’s been years… ### 3/5 — Latest update has no status categories *2019-10-26, version 3.4.12* I hate this update, I used to like the grouping of statuses:eg zones bypassed or violated as well as lights on and dimmed. Now I have to scroll down the list to each one. It’s ok if you have only a few lights or zones but I have too many that makes it pain-full. ### 3/5 — Latest version keeps losing my profile *2019-10-07* This version keeps losing my profile. I contacted the team & they very quickly sent me an email on how to sort it all out. Working once again, very happy!! ### 5/5 — Outstanding app.... *2019-09-05* This is the first review I've ever taken the time to write. This is without a doubt the best and most valuable app I have. If you are the owner of an Elk security panel, this app WILL complete your install. The app delivers the remote versatility and functionality everyone desires. Add to that the outstanding superb personal technical support that Jayson provides, and a package well worth the money. Don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed..... Highly recommended!!! ### 4/5 — Latest update broken *2019-08-11, version 3.4.2* Normally this app is fantastic, though in the latest update I am no longer able to see the status of area two and three as it will only display the status of area one across all the three areas. Developers have responded quickly and fixed within a few days great work thank you. ### 5/5 — EKeypad Rocks the M1 *2017-09-19* My home has an Elk M1 that provides automation of the lights, sprinklers, heating, security, etc. ekPro provides a graphical interface to control the automation and also incorporate security cameras. ekPro allows remote access to all of control from an iPad, iPhone, or a Watch. The setup is easy and straight forward. Jayson and his folks provide outstanding support. ### 5/5 — Great App *2017-08-30* I have been using eKeypad Pro for about a year and it does it all. I presently use it to control Home Automation through an ISY 99. The app really makes it easy to control lighting, thermostat, scenes as well as programs. I just recently added two Foscam cameras and that also works great with eKeypad Pro. The excellent support you get from Jayson Callaway is well worth the price....5 star support. I actually sent an e-mail to Jayson on Sunday evening with a question and he responded a few minutes later with an answer. I would like to update my review from 5 years ago. I just recently purchased an Apple Watch 11. My eKepad Pro works great with my watch. I can now turn on/off lights and arm/disarm my Elk M1Gold security panel from my Apple Watch. The customer service Jayson provides is outstanding. If any one wants the best and most flexible app for controlling their home automation, security system and cameras this is the one. ### 3/5 — When it works, it's great *2017-06-08, version 3.0.30* When the developer does not release untested patches that break prior working features, this is a great app. As of right now, I cannot use Insteon any more. As a disabled person who relies on this feature working, I am now pretty screwed and have to go searching for another Insteon app, even though, I paid $100 twice, one for me and one for my wife. So, if you want to drop a chunk of change on an app that works sometimes, go for it. Otherwise, look elsewhere. ### 5/5 — Just keeps getting better *2017-02-05, version 3.0.22* This app is fantastic. I've been using it since one of the very early versions. It is constantly being updated with new features. Thanks for a great product made and supported in the USA. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — All was good until the update *2019-09-26* Just lost data for two homes as they updated the app so I “wouldn’t lose my data”!!!! What the heck? Worked this morning and now it doesn’t at all. Really?? Update: reloaded both my homes and AGAIN, the app list both configurations for no apparent reason. Was a happy customer.....no longer. Absolute BS that this keeps dropping configs. ### 1/5 — Not sure what’s going on *2019-09-25* Ekeypad has been spectacular for years now but all the recent updates since the push service have not held the information in the app I have to restore each time I go into it. I have deleted the app and restored and it’ll work a few times them forget who it is again. Needs to be fixed it is a heavily used app for us. ### 1/5 — It IS a security system after all... *2019-09-20* The bug that lost the configuration file cost me many hours trying to discover what the problem was. Without a valid backup I have to manually reconfigure. I’m away from home and without the information I need to do that. Inexcusable for such a mature product playing such a critical role. ### 1/5 — burn it and rebuild *2019-09-17* If you get hosed by this app like I did, you’ll find settings no longer stick, reset doesn’t work - app just acts broken after destroying your configuration In order to continue accessing my system, only solution was: Delete app Install again from app store Manually redo everything An infuriating waste of time, but now it works again “Backup” file from previous install is “corrupt” ———————- update creates corrupt backups and neither saves nor restores settings correctly now starts with bogus old values note there is no longer a password field when creating a backup, and new configs are mostly “corrupt” buggy, obsolete looking UI buggy crashy but oh hey yet more upsell features, u can pay monthly for push notifications, nope dev needs to rewrite this junk, especially at this price point ### 1/5 — Still has issues *2019-09-16, version 3.4.10* App defaulted to an old backup and now new backups are corrupt? Still trying to get it going but no luck so far, it resets to an old file every time I restore and restart. ### 1/5 — Worked great until update *2019-09-16* It’s been working great since I initially installed years ago. Then today, just updated to later version and lost my entire configuration. I set it up again, and it worked but if I close the app and relaunch, my configuration is deleted again. even if I save my configuration and do a restore, I get a message that the saved data is corrupt and cannot be restored. Until this is fixed, app is useless ### 1/5 — Constant frustration *2017-10-27* My family and I have been using this app for more than a year on iPads which serve as our keypads, instead of proprietary Elk keypads. There are 2 major flaws which make it extremely difficult to use this app. Apparently, Jayson has programmed the buttons so that, when inputting information, each key must both be touched (pressed) and, simultaneously, a SOUND must be elicited when touching the key. If the user fails to get the sound, the program fails to acknowledge that the button was pressed! This is bizarre! In spite of using hundreds of iOS apps, I have yet to find another app which requires a sound to accompany a button press. This "feature" makes entering numbers to disarm an armed system difficult and leads to many false alarms, as my family has experienced. I fail to understand why it is programmed in such a unique, difficult, and ineffective way!! The second issue is a relatively simple design flaw. The LED lights--red to indicate that the system is armed and green to indicate it is disarmed--on a typical Elk keypad are represented by small, colored dots in this app. However, if one uses an iPad on a wall, that tiny, 2-dimensional dot is not decipherable from a few feet away! The same thing is true about the thin lines above buttons like "Stay" or "Away" which turn red to indicate the respective button is activated. The point is that the surface of an iPad is not identical to physical, 3-dimensional objects like small, LED lights. I know that Jayson has been provided with some solutions. Apparently, he has no interest in implementing them. It is a shame, as a simple design fix to this app would permit users to comfortably and fully utilize iPad's instead of proprietary keypads! ### 1/5 — Bugs *2016-10-30, version 3.0.14* New version is worse than the old. Constantly errors out. I wish I never upgraded.... ### 1/5 — Died after upgrade on 5-16-2016. *2016-05-18, version 3.0.0* Emailed tech support and nothing. No emails or calls. Not sure why they would put out an upgrade if they are not interested in if it works or dies. Mine died. ### 1/5 — Crashes instantly *2014-12-24, version 2.20.0* Do not buy this! It does not work. I’ve been using this for several years with my Elk M1 and ISY-994 and it’s pretty nice. ### 5/5 — Tweaking set-up parameters *2021-04-22* This is a great App to control your M1. Support is very quick and efficient in addressing any set-up or other issues. Works flawlessly and reliably, this app is the main reason I won’t change away from iPhone- nothing else comes close. The developer offers great and friendly support (on the rare occasions that I needed help with an unusual network configuration etc, the app itself is rock solid). I use this app numerous times each and every day. The developer keeps the app current and upto date. I am extremely happy that I bought this app. ### 5/5 — eKeypad Pro *2019-09-25* I too was caught up in the configuration nightmare of late. However, Jayson got back with me within 10 minutes on several support questions and my issue was resolved quickly. I restored from an old backup and it has worked fine with some very minor adjustments. What baffles me is the overwhelming desire for people to berate the app based on one issue that is completely avoidable by the user if they are taking proper backups. Of course it is unfortunate any of this occurred but programming is a very exact science and from what I can see the programmer here has been very responsive. This app is the only one on the market that handles the Elk and ISY with such expertise and completeness. The GUI may not be to your liking but surprise - you can create your own. Try to do anything like this with any of the ML products. This is a truly unique product. It’s been around since almost the beginning and deserves a much higher rating. Grow up. ### 5/5 — Highly Recommended *2019-09-24* I have been using this app for Elk and ISY for years now along with multiple cameras etc. I have had the opportunity to ask for added features as well as customer support for new items and custom configurations. The customer support is phenomenal. I always get quick responses that directly address anything I have questions about. This is my go to app!!! ### 5/5 — Best App with Great Support *2019-09-23* Have used eKeypad Pro for many years and it remains the best app I have ever purchased. The few issues I have had were addressed quickly and thoroughly. I hope people considering this app read more than the negative reviews. Recently an eKeypad update combined with an iOS update at the same time resulted in a configuration glitch for eKeypad. EKeypad jumped on this issue promptly with an effective fix. EKeypad’s functionality and efficient user interface along with excellent support warrants a 5-Star rating. ### 5/5 — Don’t let a few recent bad reviews scare you *2019-09-22* I’ve been using ekeypad Pro for several years and wouldn’t want to live without it. If you have the Elk system you will want to have ekeypad pro. The app has been very dependable through the years but as you can see from recent reviews it has had problems with a recent update. Support of the app has been excellent in the past and I am confident that this problem will be resolved soon. I have already received instructions to repair the problem and it appears to work at so far.
