## What is Elara Health?

Elara Health is a symptom diary and pacing tool for people living with ME/CFS, Long COVID, Post-COVID, and chronic fatigue.

The app helps you manage your energy more consciously (pacing), recognize overexertion earlier, and track symptoms, sleep, activity, and health data in one place - so you can identify patterns in your condition and make better use of your available energy.

WHY ELARA FOR FATIGUE AND PEM?
Many people living with ME/CFS or Long COVID experience post-exertional malaise (PEM) and the risk of crashes after physical, cognitive, or emotional exertion. Elara helps you visualize your health trends through clear daily, weekly, and monthly reports, showing how factors such as sleep, activity, stress, menstrual cycles, or medications may affect your well-being. This provides valuable support for pacing and self-management.

SMARTWATCHES & APPLE HEALTH INTEGRATION
Connect your smartwatch or fitness tracker through Apple Health and automatically import:

• Heart rate and resting heart rate
• HRV (heart rate variability) for stress monitoring
• Sleep stages and sleep quality
• Steps and daily activity
• Workouts and exercise sessions
• Blood pressure, body temperature, respiratory rate, and cycle data

Your health metrics are linked with your symptom diary, helping you identify relationships between physical measurements and how you feel - especially important for pacing with fatigue, ME/CFS, and Long COVID.

Elara can also synchronize menstrual cycle data, including flow intensity, basal body temperature, and automatic cycle phase detection, as hormonal changes may influence symptoms and energy levels.

### 5/5 — Best tracking app for ME/CFS and chronic illness

*2026-03-18*

I have tried nearly every health tracking app on the market and this is BY FAR the best. It allows you to track how much energy you feel you have, your activities and how taxing they are, AND your symptoms and how they might be impacting your overall energy. You can track baseline AND when you’re in a crash. All of this on top of tracking your vitals and factoring them into the overall energy assessment the app does for you to give you a better sense of whether you need to focus on recovering or if you’re at low risk of a crash.

Also, the UI is gorgeous and the developers are continuing to improve the app all the time. I really cannot recommend this app enough for people with energy-limiting illnesses 💖

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this incredible feedback 🙏

It really means a lot to hear that Elara stands out for you, especially after trying so many other apps. The way you describe tracking energy, symptoms, activities, baselines, and crashes – that’s exactly what we’re aiming for: helping you better understand your patterns and make more informed decisions around pacing and recovery.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.75 — 2026-08-13

New: improved exertion insights, simpler check-ins, more reliable sleep, tracker, and medication data, plus stability and usability improvements.

### 3.74 — 2026-07-28

New in Elara: With Acute Moment, you can record short shutdowns and acute episodes of weakness with precise timing. The onboarding has been redesigned to better tailor Elara to your symptoms and goals. Symptoms, trends, medications, and cycle insights have been expanded, and food can now be logged using a barcode scanner. We have also made app startup, synchronization, reminders, and many other areas more stable and reliable.

### 3.73 — 2026-07-18

You can now lock Elara with Face ID or your fingerprint. If you already track your nutrition elsewhere, Elara can pull the daily values straight from Apple Health or Health Connect — and when you log a meal manually, the foods you eat most often in that time slot now sit right at the top. The load hub explains itself: a new methodology view shows which axis contributes what to your value, and where the data comes from. You can also decide per tag category whether it counts as load or as rest.

Fixed: sleep time that Apple Health reports without a stage was previously discarded — it now counts again, and affected nights are recalculated automatically. If the app stayed open past midnight, it sometimes still showed the previous day. And HRV values from multiple sources are now merged correctly.

### 3.72 — 2026-07-14

This version adds a progress overview with streaks, milestones, and your weekly rhythm – just tap your streak in the journal. The strain index has been reworked to be more accurate and stable. You can now compare two time periods, import data via CSV, and log medications straight from the reminder. You can also correct steps manually, measure heart rate and HRV with Polar, and manage individual vital entries. Plus several bug fixes and many smaller improvements.

### 3.71 — 2026-07-01

What's new in this version: Improved reports with better insights, enhanced navigation for a smoother experience, plus bug fixes and performance improvements throughout the app.

Thank you for your feedback and support!

Best regards,
Frederik
